newfan Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 Make a list of the ones mentioned on here - then we can rule them all out. Huddlestone - not sure if he has been mentioned. Check your messages. I hope it is none on that list.

Tim Southampton Rover Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 I was going to say James McCarthy of Wigan but maybe he will cost too much money for us. Good player though, can only get better.
Rover & Out Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 If you really wanted to know you could spend hours compiling a list of every midfielder in the Premiership and, by a process of elimination, establish who the player is. Alternatively, you could just wait a few days to find out if anything comes of it....
Roost Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 It has to be a fabregas+nasri swap for samba. You been supping oil?
texasrover Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 You been supping oil? ? Fabregas was recently quoted saying that the reason for the lack of silverware is that they have nobody in their team pointing where they need to be. "What we need is a real admiral to point us in the right direction. Someone like that Andrews chap up the road! I wouldn't feel so lost if I played on his team. I'd gladly give him my armband." my apologies. slow day at work...
Roost Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 ? my apologies. slow day at work... Mine too for the Texas / Oil joke - I am blaming it on a crap day at work!
leerovers1980 Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 my guess is lucas leiva of Liverpool, he is brazilian also ,we know venkys love a Brazilian lol, i also think he could be available with all these mid fielders Liverpool signing
Wing Wizard Windy Miller Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 If it's a Prem player it will no doubt be someone underwhelming and more than likely form clubs in and around us in the league... so Im thinking either Stylian Petrov or Steed malbranque.
donegalrover Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 Owen Hargreaves, seems like someone Venkys might target, free, high wages, possibility to come good. hargreaves would be the biggest waste of a wage packet.Did you not see his big comeback last season he lasted 8 minutes. Far too much of a risk with a player that has had as many problems with injuries. There's too many possiblities in trying to pick a midfielder. I've been reading this board and it seems to be going around in circles the last few days. what the hell heres my stab mc'carthy from wigan would be ideal for us IMO.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 If Hargreaves was a pay as you play deal then that would be fantastic, however, there were rumours last season that he was on the verge of retirement.
leerovers1980 Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 why everyone going on about Hargreaves haven't we got enough crocks in the treatment room, they guy is finished ,we want players on the pitch that are going to make the difference
cawboy10 Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 Hi peeps 1st time poster here just signed up, this midfielder isn't Mahamadou Diarra is it ??? I also heard a rumour today Salgado is trying to talk Royston Drenthe to come to us anyone heard that?
S60tti_BRFC Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 Jay Spearing maybe? With the arrival of Henderson surely he's become surplus to requirements....
Iceman Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 Michael Carrick? another injury prone player, but if he can stay fit, then a good player. Would like to see us move for Palacios if we can secure JJ.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 I don't believe anything in the Drenthe rumour. I don't think someone in his position is a priority at the moment. 2 strikers, centre midfielder and THEN focus on other positions with what money we have left.
Ricky Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 Isn't Drenthe a left back?? Surely that should be a priority as we don't actually have one at the moment lol.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 I've always associated him with being more of a winger than defender. I guess a good comparison is with our Olsson. Better going forward than defending. Personally I would rather us spend money/wages in other positions which are vital to us improving a lot. To me a left back isn't a high priority as we have Givet who is more than reliable.
phildinio Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 fellani, t.cahill, denilson, mikel obi, osman, flethcer are my current guesses
modes98 Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 Has Charlie Adam already been mentioned ? Yes Has nobody guessed Scott Parker? Yes I don't think there are many players left in the PL who haven't been mentioned.
S15 Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 fellani, t.cahill, denilson, mikel obi, osman, flethcer are my current guesses Stick your neck out lad.
cawboy10 Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 Drenthe is naturally a left winger he was the stand out player for Holland u21s when we signed Maceo Rigters. He signed for Real Madrid who played him mostly at left back. I have heard all sorts of names mentioned so far but nothing concrete has yet. Obi Mikel is a good shout with him being on Kentaro's books but i thought that about Seb Larsson.
michaelthomas Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 fellani, t.cahill, denilson, mikel obi, osman, flethcer are my current guesses
daveoftherovers Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 TOP 10 players available on free transfer Look at the 10th name on the list LMAO at the 10th name. It misses a line where it states "Only plays against Liverpool and constantly looks like he's going to spend a great deal of time on the treatment table" They should add Grella to the list, surely he'd be a free one by now, who's going to pay anything for him?
