For the life of me I can't see why we don't go in for Reo Coker, good little player especially on a free even if he is a bit Billy Big Time, must be a few clubs after him though.

Drenthe is naturally a left winger he was the stand out player for Holland u21s when we signed Maceo Rigters. He signed for Real Madrid who played him mostly at left back. I have heard all sorts of names mentioned so far but nothing concrete has yet. Obi Mikel is a good shout with him being on Kentaro's books but i thought that about Seb Larsson.

Would be happy with Drenthe, but only as an extra signing. Would be bait underwhelmed if he was our only signing.

If it is on pay as you play deal then.. I don't see the issue.

He'll still be on a basic wage, which won't be a shy one.

All of this could be spent on a player who isn't crippled.

Didn't Nicko imply this player is somewhat underrated?

Ergo, guesses like Parker, Carrick, Park, Adam etc. are insane.

Agreed! Great engine on him and not shy about stickin' the boot in. I'm surprised he hasn't been linked with each and every 'outide the top six' club.

Perhaps Kean has used his two yard silver tongue and the searing logic of his firey intellect to persuade Scholes out of retirement.

Doubt it. He's been talked about a lot therefore not really under the radar enough and until now not a premiership player

Personally I'd far rather we weren't looking at most of the names I've seen mentioned here as they are either crocks or cost loads or have big attitude problems. I haven't seen one name where i've really thought "Yes, that's the player we need" apart from guys who I don't think would ever come here of be sold by their current team.

Got to say this is the best window for some time. Where it all ends up, nobody knows. But there are some goings on.

Just as an update - and for a check list you can cut out and keep...I think this is the check list that is being filled.

STRIKER - a massive one if possible...probably a record fee...Vucinic top of that lost until he goes elsewhere...some alternatives being looked into...but a lot of elite clubs want this calibre of target.

YOUNG STRIKER - a few 'emerging' players being studied...after all you need more than one class attacker.

LEFT WINGER - definitely on the wish list...got a name but [see above] there are others after him.

CENTRE HALF - Miranda still a possible...if not it would be a big-money deal and the signs are that the big dough is being saved for the main striker.

MIDFIELD - still no second confirmation on the Prem player I like...starting to think he is one of several being researched right now...we shall see...there could yet be TWO midfielders depending on exits.

RIGHT BACK - a surprise to me, but there is a target...and it will hopefully be out in the morning.

If that's not enough for you, then I don't know what is.

I think there will be SIX in at least and I will predict here and now that around £45 to £50 million will be spent.

Quite happy to stick my neck out on that after the vibes picked up over the past 48 hours.

wow keep up the good work nicko most appreciated , is lucas from liverpool one of the targets being brazlian and i think he is underrated

Let's wait and see shall we ? The owners made alot of promises in the last window.
