a team consisting of 6 new players. I got slagged off for posting what team id like yesterday cos apparantly we will never sign 7 new players haha.

That's on me. Still don't think we will, certainly not for our starting XI anyway.. but it does seem like you might be closer than I thought. It's not a terrible idea of course, we need better players, but in times like these it will be more important than ever to keep Christopher Samba and a few of the other stalwarts, to keep 'the good parts' from last season and add a few even better parts.

Robinson, Samba, Salgado, Givet, Olsson, Nelsen, Hoilett, N'Zonzi, J.Jones should be retained in the twenty to give the newcomers a foundation.

Thrilled to see the list, but as always I think the main interest should be to replace Phil Jones and then add two or three class players to the team. Our current lot has a lot of positives, and a stabile environment is important.

Was that 20.07'er not enough?

One name might have been nice-not a sniff of an actual target-are we really any the wiser NO. I suspect the 50 million includes the sale of samba for example. Who else is leaving to allow room for these potential incomings due to squad restrictions? what is Nicko's information based upon here? lots unsaid here....throw us a bone Nicko.

Juan Mata left winger? Haha sorry jus messing im more interested in who the midfielder and right back will be.

All very well mentioning these players but remember HOME GROWN players to fit in with premiership rules. we can't have a squad of foreign players now..http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/8255784.stm

So with all these comings and goings who will be still classed as homegrown from the original squad and still be here (Jones gone=lost 1)

Names would be nice, but the mere fact that we have that kind of money available, if it's true, is incredible.

No doubt Samba is away - so be it - that's been on the cards for a while, so cash in and move on.

Sure i agree-but what is the 50 million sum +6 players based upon??? Is this based on fact (if so what) or speculation i.e samba going + 30 million already know + potential other player going etc...

£40-50m makes me queasy.

I just think of clubs who have spent money throughout the years and achieved nothing. Clubs that we ourselves have ridiculed. This kinda money has to be invested wisely, and I'm not sure if Kean is the man to do it (good job we've got advisers, eh? :P) Heck, I'd even have my doubts giving Sparky that kinda cash. Looking back on his stint, his best signings were all diamonds in the rough. He was forced to unearth absolute bargains 'cos of our financial situation. With £50m at your disposal, it's too easy to overpay for PL players and marquee signings, whilst neglecting the potential stars out there. I sure do hope this isn't the route we take.

Let's wait and see shall we ? The owners made alot of promises in the last window.

****ABBEY sits back and watches the nickoteens ejaculate over the keyboard*****

i will still sit firmly on the fence.

Naturally we shall see what transpires. Unusual that you are both on the fence now after refusing to wait and see only hours ago, back when you had made your mind up that we were doomed. I remain almost the same as I was before. Waiting to see what will happen (as you have now joined me in doing) and cautiously optimistic about our prospects (although I admit that Nicko's post has heightened that optimism a little more.

Anyway, if we take Nicko's post as a big possibility (which I see no reason why we shouldn't as it's the best info we have - obviously it isn't a certainty, but then nothing is), even if Samba was to go for £15mil which I think many on here would be satisfied with (though not delighted of course), that would still see over £10mil spent aside from the incoming transfers as was promised when they took over. It would also not be being swallowed by the owners as some people on here seem to think. Hypothetical of course, but then that's all this board is. It does make some sense though compared to blind pessimism.

Cautious optimism, let's hope it's spent wisely. I personally have faith in the manager. It's certainly going to be a fun transfer window, regardless of how many will try to put a dampner on things at any available junction.

If we have indead £50 million to spend then venkys ambition to take us into the champions league is deadly serious. Weather we get the players we are after is a different matter. Spuds battled against relegation and the season after were in the champions league. The only problem is Steve kean. Let's hope he turns into a very good manager. If he spends that kind of money the pressure will defiantly be on

If Samba Goes I would have Johnson and Dann From Brum to sort out the centre half situation Samba leaves as well. Vaughan and Gardner who are both proven Premiership midfielders. As for a striker the dream would be Sturridge but as long we stay away from Roque I will be happy. Adebyor would be amazing!!

Some excellent points.

Only fools and their money part easily.

Braddock..? I've Been on the fence all along until I'm convinced otherwise?

Then why have you chosen to persist with pessimism for the majority of your posts? Surely a balanced view would be healthier for your sanity?

STRIKER - a massive one if possible...probably a record fee...Vucinic top of that lost until he goes elsewhere...some alternatives being looked into...but a lot of elite clubs want this calibre of target.

Vucinic or Raul?

YOUNG STRIKER - a few 'emerging' players being studied...after all you need more than one class attacker.

Wickham? Soriano? Vazquez? Sturridge on loan?

LEFT WINGER - definitely on the wish list...got a name but [see above] there are others after him.

Vucinic or Vicente, by the sounds.

CENTRE HALF - Miranda still a possible...if not it would be a big-money deal and the signs are that the big dough is being saved for the main striker.

Only heard about Johnson, Dann and that bloke who plays with Samba at Congo, who's supposed to be really awful.

MIDFIELD - still no second confirmation on the Prem player I like...starting to think he is one of several being researched right now...we shall see...there could yet be TWO midfielders depending on exits.

Missed the boat with Larsson. Jermaine Jones is a must. I'd like Andrea Poli and Palombo of Sampdoria. I also though Nolito was an option, but he's signed for Benfica.

RIGHT BACK - a surprise to me, but there is a target...and it will hopefully be out in the morning.

Very much needed, in my opinion. I love El Salgado, but he can't play 30 games and not be knackered. Not got a clue who'd be available though, apart from Pantsil on a free transfer, and Marco Motta of Juventus, who will be bought this summer, then listed for loan.

When we only spend in primark people complain.

When we can afford harrods people remind us of the bargains in primark.

I despair!
