Got to ask Nicko, but where is the money coming from. Even if venkys put in the already mentioned 5 mill + the jones money 16.5 (as the rest is add on's at a later date) = 21.5 mill.

Is this money coming from Venky's or via the banks?

Fair enough question to ask.

If Nicko is prepared to stick his neck out with the budget prediction then that is good enough for me, his sources are usually impeccable.

I'd be delighted with this kinda money being spent, as long as the money has come from Venky's and is not borrowed from banks.

Certainly interesting times ahead and Venky's PR wasn't wrong when they said that signings would 'excite' fans.

People may not like this line, but if the money is from Venky's, then so be it. But if it is from the banks - then God help the club. The club does not have 40 to 50 mill to spend on new players - even if they sold the not wanted ones. I would hate the club to go broke at the expence of short term success. This money must come from venkys themselves.

Venkys are billionaires, I'm not sure they would loan money so soon.

It certainly is not clear how wealthy they are hence the questions if it is borrowed money they could potentially be using.

Lets wait and see before we even discuss big money being spent.

But all the sounds coming from Ewood and Pune, and now Nicko, suggest that big plans have been made.

Exciting times.

I love having mental owners.

Totally agree!!!

I've not looked all day because this is bordering on hysteria, but I've flicked through the pages & I'm starting to feel my heart rate climbing!!!

£40m - £50m... if that happens and we actually sign some good players, I'll be amazed!!!

COYB!!!

I believe the billionaire part is only a claim. Has there not be mixed comments on that subject. Please do not think I am trying to be - or wanting to be negative. Just asking questions that is all.

Got to say this is the best window for some time. Where it all ends up, nobody knows. But there are some goings on.

Just as an update - and for a check list you can cut out and keep...I think this is the check list that is being filled.

STRIKER - a massive one if possible...probably a record fee...Vucinic top of that lost until he goes elsewhere...some alternatives being looked into...but a lot of elite clubs want this calibre of target.

YOUNG STRIKER - a few 'emerging' players being studied...after all you need more than one class attacker.

LEFT WINGER - definitely on the wish list...got a name but [see above] there are others after him.

CENTRE HALF - Miranda still a possible...if not it would be a big-money deal and the signs are that the big dough is being saved for the main striker.

MIDFIELD - still no second confirmation on the Prem player I like...starting to think he is one of several being researched right now...we shall see...there could yet be TWO midfielders depending on exits.

RIGHT BACK - a surprise to me, but there is a target...and it will hopefully be out in the morning.

If that's not enough for you, then I don't know what is.

I think there will be SIX in at least and I will predict here and now that around £45 to £50 million will be spent.

Quite happy to stick my neck out on that after the vibes picked up over the past 48 hours.

I'm so sad that I lost all credibility a few weeks ago when I said the budget could be around 50 million :)

Isn't Huddlestone one of the main midfielders at Tottenham? I can't see why they would sell him. I had the impression he was very highly thought of.

maybe part of a swap deal for Samba.

Huddlestone was injured for half of last season. I reckon this season it will be Sandro and Mordic in Midfield for Spuds.

I wouldn't be surprise if it was Jermaine Jenas we are after. good box to box midfielder and can score goals aswell!!!

I totally agree Kamy. If Nicko says Rovers are going to spend big then GOOD as long as the money is coming from the owners and NOT loans from the banks!!!

Not according to Forbes they aint.

Correct. They even said that when Venkys bought the club, they did so using icici bank and not from their own pockets. That in it itself should makes us all a bit cautious about this transfer speculation.

i do not know how to post links. But type forbes into google, venkys into the forbes search bar and read for yourselves. But others will of course call it scaremongering.

A potential way we could have £50 million:

£10 million original transfer budget.

Sales of Jones, Samba and Kalanic = £35 million

Whereas in the past the trust used income from transfers to reduce debt, Venky's allow Kean to spend every penny raised from sales.

The alternative is that they are pumping in transfer fund from their own money or from borrowing.

You also said roughly 82 other things that were happening that week to be fair, some were bound to be right! :P

Only joking I do actually remember you saying that after Keans talks in India he would be a happy man due to it.

So Venky's are either raising the money from players sales, borrowing from the bank, or using their own money?

Cheers Kamy, that's answered a few questions.

And there it is in a nutshell. The thing we must not discuss. Mind you Bolton are £90m in debt apparently - maybe we're just playing catch up in double quick time?

Still it is anything between 45 quid and 50 million so there is plenty of scope!?

The bit in italics should really read "then bloody fantastic" by the way. But we're back to square one again as no one will ask that question so we're hardly likely to find out.

Apologies if this is slightly off topic but there was a picture of a drug addled foul mouthed grizzly bear on here last time I looked. I swear!

Kamy according to Forbes - venkys bougght the club via funding from icici bank. Which is one reason I fear this speculation.

Surely only a buffoon would believe we are ready to spend 45-50m.

Too many "my dad's mate's brother's cousin, who's mum works with Ryan Nelsens chiropodist" stories in this forum,

If your going to start a rumour, surely use the tried and trusted British media standard equation (1+1=1121231)

For example;

I see a summer move to the North West for Eduardo da Silva... Formerly of Arsenal.

I hope someone else remembers this, but I vaguely remember hearing that Venky's would invest their own money? I may be dreaming but heard something of this nature.

However, I think it shows the intent of the owners, onward and upwards.

This is only your 17th post. I hope your 18th is a lot better and in a better manner. As in all posts, in my view you believe what is posted or not. Either way you move on and not call somebody elses post cr@p.
