roversfan99 Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Cardozo P.Cisse Odemwingie Barrios Nilmar Rondon Sow Dembele Negredo Lisandro Lopez Agbonlahor Welbeck Gilardino I wonder if any of these strikers feature within our wishlist? Also another 2 suggestions for the left wing are Perotti and Diego Capel.

newfan Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Plusses: Bit of a miracle worker, can build a team around him. Waterlogged pitches dont affect him. Minuses: Not good at crosses, passed his prime, occassionally goes missing. you made my day
newfan Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Not according to Forbes they aint. The wealth may be shared between all three
Kamy100 Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 In this morning's Lancashire Telegraph, Benjani says that he has been offered a one year contract by Rovers and that he'll be back at Rovers for next season.
Stuart Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 This is the kind of conflicting story that makes people so cynical about anything being said. I'll believe the money stories when the players are posing with their Rovers shirts. Btw, anyone who thinks Olsson can be our full time left back needs their bumps reading.
Kenwoo Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 In this morning's Lancashire Telegraph, Benjani says that he has been offered a one year contract by Rovers and that he'll be back at Rovers for next season. As a steward.

Roberto Policano Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 "Spot on. And I'm well in favour of Poli and Palombo"As of last week Poli was joining Cagliari. "RB?... Evgeni Makeev, 21, of Spartak Moscow?"Good call, lads got plenty of promise.Guess Welliton would need a work permit,Dzyuba decent at Spartak too.Jano Ananidze could play behind your strikers, but would need time to bed in. Cannot use multi quote for some reason
Iceman Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 instead of a left winger, just leave Olsson there. If Samba doesn't leave, bring in Miranda and leave Givet at left back. alternatively, if Samba stays, move Givet alongside him, and bring in Taye Taiwo. the other player, who I would like to see here, is Moutinho. always seems to do well, but not sure if he is available "Spot on. tcj_jones Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Imagine you're Marco Vucinic and Rovers come in looking to buy you. You ask who you'll be playing up top with next season and you're told Jason Roberts and Benjani... That would be enough to disuade any player from joining.

I don't even think, that Roberts and Benjani would be happy with an unknown like MARCO Vucinic
TimmyJimmy Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 There's a world of difference between saying that we are "going to spend an extra 50 million" and we are "going to buy 50 millions worth of players", the only measure worth a damn in these circumstances is net-net. To replace any players who leave with players of the same quality will cost the same amount of money in a fair market. We may buy a centre back of the same quality as Jones for 20 million but we won't have improved the team, the bank balance wouldn't have changed yet we'd have 'spent' 20 million. Creaming ourselves over a 50 million spend might give a nice warm feeling inside but if we have to sell 45 millions worth of players (Jones, Samba, Peds, Hoilett - whoever) then nothing has improved, we've just rearranged the chairs on the Titantic. 50 million of new money - well then you've got my attention. I think Venky's will spend above our historical long run average (net) but these big headline numbers are just plain misleading, IMO. Anyone care to take a guess at the final outcome, net spending wise. My guess is sub 10 million cash outflow. This is based on the original fanfare of 5 million per window and that we didn't spend anything much in the last window. That said given the Venky's fascination with marquee signings for branding/publicity purposes then they may well have a one off war chest put aside somewhere for that 'Messi moment'. All good stuff and all to be welcomed/applauded but just let's get a bit of perspective on what's being discussed.
Tardyrover Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 I keep hearing the name welbeck on here!!! He's utter gargabe and I hope we stay well away!
Roberto Policano Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 anything in the Eto'o move Roberto? perhaps not for us, but would love to see him in the PL. Obviously City can never be counted out of anything,If they offered say £35 million outright Inter would think about selling for certain. But i think he will stay at Inter. Inter in a right mess at the moment, well done Leo for dropping Moratti in the crap, guy deserves it. Expect City to bid for Maicon.McDonald Mariga is being offered about for 6 million,he would be a decent signing for you lot.Inter would sell Pandev for the right price.(10 million euros). Anthony Ujah wouldn't qualify for a work permit.

I'm skeptical as well. I thought our signings in January were indicative of the transfer policy Venky's talked about and that we will persist with. Young players with potential and loans. It will be interesting who we do sign, but I don't expect us to be pulling up any trees in the transfer market.
Fraserkirky Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 for the young striker i would get anthony ujah. currently plays for lillestrom in the norwegian league. would probably cost 1-2million punds. has extreme potential and is only 20years old. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthony_Ujah Never heard of him, but just watched some video. Great feet in and around the Box, and seems a natural finisher. Good suggestion.
davulsukur Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 http://www.caughtoffside.com/2011/06/19/newcastle-united-plan-move-for-chelsea-youngster-as-board-look-to-youth/ If thats got any truth in it, we should be all over that http://www.talksport.co.uk/sports-news/football/premier-league/transfer-rumours/8495/3/fenerbahce-planning-%C2%A35million-offer-tottenhams-jenas And for £5 million i'd bring Jenas here as well
Fraserkirky Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 MAIN STRIKER - I'm still hoping for Vucinic here, Juventus seem to be looking at bigger names, and Roma have just signed Bojan apparantly. 10-13m if not get back in for the Cisse lad. OTHER STRIKER - possibly in the £7 to £10 million range. Trequartista here, Lamela(12m) from River Plate or Honda(13m) from CSKA. LEFT WINGER - the one you are hottest on just now is around £6 to £7 million. N'Zogbia or Piatti here please. CENTRE HALF - hopefully free. Miranda, hopefully not Upson MIDFIELDER - a good one...and those under discussion are...would be valued at £5 million. I think you will sign two at roughly that cost. Jermaine Jones and Andrea Poli RIGHT BACK - the one you are in for will be in the £3 to £4 million range...was hoping Mirror would name him but there has been a lot going on elsewhere so that may have got squeezed...big clue - he's Russian. Clyne or Aurier will be had for that price! Robinson Clyne Samba Miranda Olsson Jones Poli Hoilett Lamela Piatti Vucinic Good Times
cruz Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Hells bells, I go away for 3 weeks and we sell a player for £16m and then get linked with possible spending £50m on new players!!!!! Proof is in the pudding though
Parsonblue Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 What I don't understand is that if we have £40 or £50 million to spend why has Benjani been offered a new deal? Surely, we could do better than that for the role of backup striker? If Rochina and Formica come good, and I agree it's a big if - particularly from what I've seen of Formica - I really don't see the need for Benjani if we are going to sign a couple of top class strikers.
Mattyblue Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Indeed cruz. That's why I am only glancing at this thread every now and then. Someone wrote yesterday that this is the 'most exciting transfer window in years', well no, gossip and 'links' are not exciting, however some quality signings and we are on our way.
braddock Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 [*]Hoilett is right footed, so either right wing or in the hole/ 2nd striker He's most dangerous cutting in from the left. The proof will be on the 1st of September when we review who we have signed, the question being, if they splash the cash and bring in the players, will you come on here and admit you were wrong or will you go to ground. Are we taking bets on this one Of course not. He'll just start talking about next seasons price hike and the fact it's all paid by loans. There is nothing we can do if Venky's are indeed as evil as some people think (which I don't think they are) so I'm just gonna enjoy the ride!
davulsukur Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 MAIN STRIKER OTHER STRIKER LEFT WINGER CENTRE HALF MIDFIELDER RIGHT BACK 6 players certainly makes for an exciting summer and hopefully an exciting season ahead. The stand out position there is left winger. Not a priority for me, certainly doesnt warrent £7million spent on it. Olssons best position is left wing, meaning this is likely to restrict him to left back. Good for overlapping, but bad for defending. I hope that we bring in 2 central midfielders, as we are way short of decent options there.
The Rover of Finland Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Surely things are tried to be sorted out before Hong Kong trip?
jim mk2 Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Of course not. He'll just start talking about next seasons price hike and the fact it's all paid by loans. No one said the owners are "evil" - guilty of hype and exaggeration, and possibly not being honest with the fans, but not "evil". That is your word. If any of this mooted spending is paid for by loans then Venky's will get and deserve criticism.
