The LT is carrying an interview with Benjani this morning in which he states that he has been offered a new deal at Ewood and is looking forward to returning. Benjani hopes to sign the new deal within the next couple of days.

I saw that we'd offered a striker a contract on the LT advertisement board outside a newsagents this morning, what an anti-climax to find out it's only Benjani. :(

To answer a few questions at once...

VUCINIC - you will know a lot more about that one in the next day or so...it has been a crash course in the size of fees, wages and messing around for the new owners.

MIRANDA - time ticking...still a live project.

RUSSIAN RIGHT BACK - inquiry made, fee quoted...proving tough...but money talks.

LEFT WINGER - inquiry made, other clubs in...a bit expensive and an auction doesn't help.

Once the Vucinic and Miranda things are settled you will either have two top players or move to the next targets.

When you are going for the level of players currently being pursued you are going to find that other clubs want them too. So it is going to cost. Probably more than anyone bargained for. But with all of the big hitters in just now there is an awful lot of buzz going on.

SAMBA - if he goes it will be for loads...

JERMAINE JONES - still haggling over prices...there is a genuine rival for him too.

It's busy and a wee bit mental. Let's leave that as an update for now and getting on with the calls myself.

Sounds like we are buying relegation by having no backbone to the team. When's Kean going, and when is Andrews going, then the club can begin to look and move forwards.

Imagine you're Marco Vucinic and Rovers come in looking to buy you. You ask who you'll be playing up top with next season and you're told Jason Roberts and Benjani...

That would be enough to disuade any player from joining.

I doubt we will play 2 up top. And I certainly hope not. Kean tried it through the situation that he'd been engineered in, it didn't work and we ended up playing Hoillet in a free attacking midfield role in support of Roberts. We looked most comfortable, most compact and most dangerous with that formation too. Only teams with exceptional players can contemplate 4-4-2 these days. It's too easy to play against.

I'm sure we all knew that anyway.

Rumours Mark Hughes is to be appointed manager, your veiws?

Also rumoured in Manchester. Apparently, Cryer knew about it yesterday but will neither confirm nor deny.

How about 'You will be playing with Junior Hoilett just behind you, a player with pace to burn and mega potential'?

Ewwww no - awful player, even the spurs fans hate him!

Bizarre, cant see it!

@NorthernRover on Twitter just posted this

Had 10 texts in the last hour saying Hughes to be appointed Rovers manager. Don't know where rumour is coming from, surely untrue?

@NorthernRover Twitter

Unless something has gone on at the big meetings this week and therefore Kean has been potted?? Still cant see it!

SO it looks like VUCINIC and MIRANDA are the first targets looking to sign.

Vucinic on a cut price fee for around £5-7m

Miranda on a free

Am I right?

Are you right? No

Miranda on a free, Vucinic for around £16-18m

Spurs have alot of quality in midfield. Our central midfield is guff. He would improve it drastically.

I'll never take any notice of you ever again davul.

Really people dont rate him at all?

It's hard to believe Hughes would return but if it were to happen he would be the best summer signing of all. Spending £40m plus (allegedly) on players is a waste of money until the managerial problem is addressed.

Alot of players would improve our midfield, who are much younger, cheaper and on smaller wages.

Stay clear of Jenas!

The team we finished with had two growlers in centre mid dominating the opposition, protecting the defence and supplying the ammo for the flair players Hoilett and Olsson and it worked well. If it can be worked I'd be happy starting the season with a Jones and N'Zonzi pairing again. (I always view players with how I'd like / not like to play against them). In centre midfield Jenus cannot tackle his way out of a paper bag.

Tip for you davul.... when selecting players look for the ones who actually enjoy playing football. ;)

I know this is never going to happen but....

Can you imagine Mark Hughes as manager with 50 million to spend.

FML

Europa Leauge here we come!

We got into Europa League under Mark Hughes even without money to spend. I'm sure Europa League would be a minimum.

But Mark Hughes had 50 million at Manchester City as well, yet did he manage to get them into Champions League? If I remember correctly, he only managed a 5th place finish at best, behind Tottenham two seasons ago. Or am I mistaken?

Basically, that is your answer to Mark Hughes with 50 million to spend.
