For the people who want a left back.....loan with a view to a permanent seems a sensible offer for this lad?

Chelsea have valued their England Under-21 defender Ryan Bertrand at £5m. However, he may be allowed to go out on loan for a season, with West Brom, Wolves, Bolton, Fulham and Nottingham Forest all interested.

Spurs have a salary cap; luckily our mental owners don't. To quote that annoying guy who posts on here, at £7m "we should be all over that."

Like a Burtons suit :-). Love Forlan, dictates the entire tempo of a team. I would be happy to offer him daft money for a few years, he would pull others in with him

everything is over priced these days. get with it for christ sakes

52 posts and abusive already. You'll go far.

I know everything is overpriced, but my limit on J Jones would be around 4M. Take it or leave it, I don't care and I won't change my opinion.

Compared to what is being sought (apparently) for certain Spurs mid-fielders I'd go for one of them. Younger and better value.

I think that Forlan at 32 would be a good buy for Rovers. I don't think other top teams would like a player who is 32....I think he's suited for Rovers play next season. He's the player that would give us 15 goals a season in the next two season for sure.

I agree, give them an offer. And then move on.... In January we could had get Jones for prob £2m ...... when he was out of Schalke's team....

To be fair neophox I don't think we could have got him for that in Jan. It seems like schalke were not willing to agree a fee at that time. It was widely reported that we tried to get a fee agreed but could not reach an agreement.

I guess schalke were hoping he would perform and interest in him would increase.... Mission accomplished.

well I would sign jones, he fits into the team and can cope with the level of football.

Has for other signing these can take time and its right for rovers to take thier time and get the right players for the right fee.

Picking up that the players Rovers have on their list of top targets have agents who are not kean on coming to Rovers.

Probably explains the Champions League quote from Mr Keen.

Good stuff, the top targets are in the bag then.

Who told you this, Ali Syed?

And he's got to keep Junior and possibly Samba. Makes no sense from any other angle to talk about CL. And which of the top four are we going to displace?

I'd go £7mil and pay slightly over the odds. Not every signing can be a bargain and at least we have a good idea of what we are getting. With him I'd have some piece of mind too.

Much as I like Jones surely anything over 3m is crazy as he is 30 and has injury problems.

I can't see us getting him back to be honest unless the price is dropped.

We would all sign J Jones for the right fee. What would you pay?

Just seen the fight riot from the game in Brazil last night. A Santos player is on the floor getting kicked in by some Uruguay team and up pops Neymar with a flying kick. Shame he is out of reach he would fit right in.

So Kean is making himself look like an idiot for the good of the club?

What a w****r!

"Picking up"? You sound like Derek Acorah

Finally, I know you aren't keen on Kean but you should be able to distinguish between the two words.

Good job it's not the agents who are signing then!.....losing credibility with each and every post.

How long did it come up with you to twist something out of those quotes? Nobody cares what you 'pick up' these days, for fear of catching whatever if it you have.

£3mil? I can understand people saying £5mil and I'd personally go higher, but £3mil? Who else are you going to get who can offer us what he offered us for that money, outside of free transfers? He had no injury problems whilst here. Looked the fittest player at the club.

Niko said we are there are 3 players in mainland europe we have a live interest in...

My guess -Spain, Germany, Italy

I think the stiker is Vucinic. If we dont get him, then to plan B (whatever that is Venkys!)

Atleast Venkys make me optimistic for the future :)

Absolutely fantastic for all supporters that Rovers seem to have funds to spend.

However, seems like we might be back in the Mackay syndrome of 1991 where money was available but the targets didn't want to join.

This all changed when Kenny was appointed.

I just hope that our funds are not squandered, in a panic, on average players, past their best, looking for a last good contract.

I would rather buy selectively and wisely, keeping some back for the right opportunity or rainy days.

IMO, Jones at 30 is overpriced @ £5.5m and should be off the radar - some similarities with RSC, had been out injured for a long period and then enjoys a goodish spell after a slowish start. £3.5m would be my max..

As for Forlan, we should not ne investing substantial funds in 30+ players and particularly strikers who start to lose their edge at that age (eg Anelka).

As an aside, anyone know how season ticket sales are measuring-up year on year ?
