IMO, Jones at 30 is overpriced @ £5.5m and should be off the radar - some similarities with RSC, had been out injured for a long period and then enjoys a goodish spell after a slowish start. £3.5m would be my max..

You're are entitled to your opinion and I understand your concerns about Kean attracting players (though I feel what he may do is attract the right kind of players on a mental level - no mental jokes), but I have to say I disagree with having Jones overpriced at £5.5m, yet you're willing to spend £3.5m on RSC. There was a massive difference between what they could offer the club last season, and from that I'd stick my neck out and say the same would be the case next season.

Niko said we are there are 3 players in mainland europe we have a live interest in...

My guess -Spain, Germany, Italy

I think the stiker is Vucinic. If we dont get him, then to plan B (whatever that is Venkys!)

Atleast Venkys make me optimistic for the future :)

I might be wrong- I'd have to go back to find his post- but I think he was talking about midfielders. So we are chasing 3 midfielders from differet leagues in mainland Europe.

Quick question for Nicko,

Are the signings that Rovers are trying to make of a suitable stature that would convince Samba to stay for the time being? I don't think we can afford to lose him as well.

Absolutely fantastic for all supporters that Rovers seem to have funds to spend.

However, seems like we might be back in the Mackay syndrome of 1991 where money was available but the targets didn't want to join.

This all changed when Kenny was appointed.

I just hope that our funds are not squandered, in a panic, on average players, past their best, looking for a last good contract.

I would rather buy selectively and wisely, keeping some back for the right opportunity or rainy days.

As for Forlan, we should not ne investing substantial funds in 30+ players and particularly strikers who start to lose their edge at that age (eg Anelka).

As an aside, anyone know how season ticket sales are measuring-up year on year ?

My thoughts exactly....it'll be interesting if nothing else to see whether Kean has the ability to attract the right players. Can't help thinking back those many moons ago when a certain A Ferguson nearly had United relegated in his first season - it worked out ok though...or maybe that's just the eternal optimist in me :)

Edinson Cavani?

Plays for Napoli, young only 23 recon he would cost around 12 million..

That is the sort of signing we should be after!

We know one is JJ, maybe the one from spain is Vicente sure we has been linked!

Might be a bit out of our league. What a player though. Think City are after him but then again who aren't they after.

Shame Rafael Varane has gone to Madrid. If he'd joined United we could've gone for him on a season long loan.

Pitty then aren't after Keith!

Would be the kind of signing that would make fans renew their season tickets and show the players we mean bussiness i.e Samba, Hoillet!

Vucinic and Cavani upfront.... Yes please :D

Think people are starting to dream a little bit to much here.

Hope we get the news about some cast-offs or league 1 players signing soon

Would be the best dream possible, Hmm does Kieth have a brother we could sign?

Posted

Cavani at 12m? You must be kidding. Would cost at least double.

Double? maybe 12 million is a little low, 20 million should see a bid accepted.

Its not like he plays for a 'big' team.

Well Larsson has well and truly bitten the dust in joining Sunderland was sure that we would of signed him given that we were so close in January.

whilst i like the thought of Cavani i dont think he'd want to leave Napoli or would Napoli sell him on the cheap.

The price for Vucinic will be around 18-20 million.

Cavani would be a better option.

Give him the chance to impress in the premierleauge then sell him on for £50 million!

Looks like the pull of playing for Stephen Kean isnt going to be that great amongst the footballing world.

Why should we not be surprised at this.

How does it look like? Have we even made a bid for a player? Has any big names even rejected us yet?

Its eaiser to be a pessimist than an optimist hey JAL ;)

And he's got to keep Junior and possibly Samba. Makes no sense from any other angle to talk about CL. And which of the top four are we going to displace?

And which of the top four are we going to displace?

Answer :Arsenal fc looks vulnerable :!:

Exciting times, deals to be done early Callum.

Why would Cavani leave a team in the Champions League to come to Rovers? He would cost at least 35m - more likely a lot more. He would never come to Rovers. Let's stick to realistic targets.

Braddock - I wouldn't sign RSC at all - merely stating that there are some similarities to RSC in that JJ has come back after a longish absence like RSC did (hardly played at Bayern). What happened with RSC is that after that great initial season with us, he's really struggled to get fit and play. Therefore, has to be a degree of risk with JJ which would influence the price.
