Wilko Rover Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 This say's to me "i am off". http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11670_7001843,00.html 10mil and kranjcar please spurs
Darwen Rover Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 I'd be very nervous about signing any players from serie A.. Success rate from players playing in Italy has not been amazing really has it..? Much prefer us to look at target who have had success in Germany or Spain...
dhughes07 Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Been saying it for over a year. Do keep up! Indeed i do, but he has been quiet since the season ended. I would sell now, no point having a un-happy player let alone a un-happy captain. Maybe one of our new signings may need to be new captain material.
47er Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Well, we knew that. Arsene won't pay the 15 odd million it would take to sell so he's going to have to miss out No---he'll be off or we wouldn't have a 40-50M "war chest". Presumably Mrs Desai will make them pay up.
Hughesy Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 10mil Pavluchenko and kranjcar please spurs Fixed for you
Hughesy Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Really Hughesy?? Please explain Explain what? It would bring in a goalscorer and a creative midfielder.....giving us our £40-50m war chest to sign a left winger, right back, young striker and also a defender.
michaelthomas Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Cavani for £10m , now i have heart it all. Napoli will hold out for £30m+ when the time comes to sell him, which won't be a while yet seeing as they qualified for CL football last year.
Ricky Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Hughesy we aren't going to have a war chest like that without including a fee for samba. I do however agree with you on the idea of a swap deal with spurs and would take the two players suggested.
sweet Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 I don't understand how we can possibly sell Samba and Jones this summer, yet only bring in 1 Centre Back, preferably on a free, if what nicko says is correct.

Roberto Policano Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Edinson Cavani would cost £45 million on Cities & Real Madrid list, will probably stay at Napoli.
otto man Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Indeed i do, but he has been quiet since the season ended. I would sell now, no point having a un-happy player let alone a un-happy captain. Maybe one of our new signings may need to be new captain material. Agreed!
booth Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 I don't understand how we can possibly sell Samba and Jones this summer, yet only bring in 1 Centre Back, preferably on a free, if what nicko says is correct. If we do that we're screwed. The worry is that when Phil Jones was in the team we looked a lot better at the back. Take away Samba as well and we're going to be a shambles. That's why it's important to sign two very good CB's. Hanley and Givet aren't the answer.
alexanders Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 I think Hanley would be able to make the step. Getting good reviews and have been looking quite solid as CB for Rovers. If my memory serves me correct he has been played out of position quite a few times at RB where he have been struggling.

booth Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 I think Hanley would be able to make the step. Getting good reviews and have been looking quite solid as CB for Rovers. If my memory serves me correct he has been played out of position quite a few times at RB where he have been struggling. In all the games I've seen him in he has looked okay, but for me not quite ready. He's still very young and not all young players have the maturity that Phil Jones displayed. We need two experienced centre halves so we don't have to rely on youth. That way the youth players can develop at their own pace.
Barnesy Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 I think Hanley is a good bit away from being Premier League standard yet. Promising in some ways but he'll have to react and read the game a lot quicker. Better to blood him in selected matches with a proven, premier league centre half. What's the problem? We have enough money in tranfer funds alone to bring in folk like Johnson-get cracking-or else season ticket sales will slump. All talk and no action equals poor sales.
Gav Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 If we do that we're screwed. The worry is that when Phil Jones was in the team we looked a lot better at the back. Take away Samba as well and we're going to be a shambles. That's why it's important to sign two very good CB's. Hanley and Givet aren't the answer. I'm of the opinion that you can always replace centre backs at the level we currently find ourselves at, but not at champions league level where we’ll be at in 4yrs time Whilst Samba and Jones will be missed, they’re replaceable, unlike say a 15 goal a season man, so I’m not worried about selling Samba also.
47er Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 I don't understand how we can possibly sell Samba and Jones this summer, yet only bring in 1 Centre Back, preferably on a free, if what nicko says is correct. The thinking must be-------4 centre-backs---Miranda,Nelsen,Givet and Hanley. Ignores the fact that Nelsen is likely to succumb to injury more often than in the past and there's only Olsson at left-back if Givet moves across. Mr Positive has obviously convinced the owners that we can lose our best 2 players and with an additional 10m from them he can forge a better side. Some managers might be able to do it, he isn't one of them.
67splitscreen Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 I read yesterday that Diego was hit with a 500k euro fine (1months wages ) (thought he would be on more than that) for storming out of the team hotel after being dropped at the end of the season, not the best attitude but a cheeky bid has to be worth a shout. 8m ish!.
joey_big_nose Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 More than 500k a month? 125k p.w its a lot. Which is £110k, which is probably £50k more than our top paid player. Diego is not coming to Ewood....
LeftWinger Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 More than 500k a month? 125k p.w its a lot. It's nearer £100k a week in sterling - but still a lot.
