just read something on facebook and I think the guy has a point.

Any player who recently signs a new contract, then a few months down the line declare they want to leave, should have to repay the signing on and agent fees back to the club.

I think this is is a great idea and players will think twice about what they say.

Thoughts?

This mindless abuse is getting tiresome.

A Rovers fan whom I have met and respect spoke with a member of his family.

What is your evidence in support of your viewpoint?

The fact that PJ was offered a new contract and he signed that contract- why would he do that if he was trying to leave or Rovers wanted him gone??

Secondly PJ was offered another 5 year deal the biggest in our history why would we do that if we wanted him gone?

Just take a second to reason it out- go with the simplest answer Phillip it tends to be the right one.

Also separate point but interesting that when The Trust sold our players like RSC for 17 million, certain posters counted the costs of agent fees, wages etc to account for where the money went, surely if the Raos are putting all 16.5 million from PJ into new players a lot of their own money is included here, or is this only applicable to the Trust?

WERE NICKO GONE MUST BE ON A TOP STORIE OR SOMTHING NOT LIKE HIM TO MISS A CHANCE TO REPORT ON ROVERS NEWS

Or perhaps he's doing some other transfer related story. So we have two stories saying we might have a signing imminent. One saying it is a striker, one mentioning 'vodka' as a clue but not saying the position they play. If you take these at face value, then the following conclusions can be drawn:

1. The player is Russian (Sheepskin or Andropov), and possibly a striker (Probagnyak, Arshavin, Pavlachenko)

2. The player is a raging alcoholic, and a striker (Rihodan, Adriano)

P.S. I don't think we'll have £40-50m with or without selling Samba.

Big Chris said he'd look at who we were signing before making a decision .....who've we signed ?

Do you really thhink its all about how quickly we sign players rather than the quality of players we sign? How many premiership teams have bought so far - there are 2 months to go for gods sake.

The anti Kean stuff became tedious months ago - got anything else to say?

Agree, partly. Giving a squad time to gel is important, especially if you bring so many new faces in. Also I believe at least half the league has signed someone already.

Quick question, since nicko hasn't/won't answer my question I'll throw it out there. Does anyone actually believe the 45-50 million figure is before we've sold Samba?

No.

I would say it's before the Samba sale if it happens, mainly due to the shopping list only having the Jones replacement on it.

Two different opinions, I'm going to agree with....Tea Pot. There are three possibilities..

1) Alan Nixon has made it all up and there is no £50m war chest

2) There is a war chest of £50m but only after the sales of Samba and probably Kalinic/Pedersen to boot.

3) There is a war chest of £50m available right now without anyone else leaving.

Now if you believe 3, like Veevs and many others here, do you not worry where that extra £28.5m is coming from? We've got 16.5m from the Jone deal as well as our massive £5m a window money. Now nicko claims another £5m is 'being brought forward' and I'm surprised everyone's fine with this. We should not be spending more than one window's money at a time IMO, what happens in January when we have an injury and we need a signing but have nothing to spend because Kean gets told "you spent it in the summer"? Even so, that still leaves us with £23.5m to find from somewhere, from a bunch of people who's main business only brings in £10m a year in profits (and please don't give me this 'they own other business which make more' nonsense, if that was true they would be promoting those brand names and not 'Venky's' wouldn't they?).

Call me a pessimistic, call me negative but the only way I can see us spending £50m is if we lose P.Jones (already gone), Samba, Kalinic and Pedersen which will mean a complete rebuilding job of our squad. Else, if we spend that amount but somehow manage to hang on to Samba and the others then I fear we are taking out loans or using money we don't have and could be the next Leeds/Portsmouth.

The squad, IMO, needed a good £10m chucked at in in January but instead we barely paid more than £4m on transfer fees and I'm expected to believe that these same people, who are quoted as saying they will give us £5m a window which fits in with perfectly how much disposable income they have from their businesses, suddenly have pulled £24m out of nowhere and are giving it to us out of the kindness of their hearts? Has Mrs D suddenly gone off the idea we can get by with loan players ans freebies which not so long ago, according to her, would have had us in the top 6? No way....

Excatly how much like Carlton Cole?

I wouldn't mind if he looked exactly the same as Carlton Cole...so long as he was better at football.

Yay, we've started the 'my mate saw the gaffer with so and so' posts. These are always great. Hughesy's grandad outing Salgado was always the best lol.

What does cisse look like??

Quite a bit like him...he's black anyway....

The answer was on another thread on another day.

Check back.

I don't have time.

I don't know why your mate would be winding you up. You don't seem the type to get wound up easily and overreact.
