Gav Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 It is still extremely odd that all the January transfer fees were spent on two players who between them spent less than 45 minutes in total on the pitch of a nail bighting relegation battle. Both players bought with an eye for the future, nobody pretended otherwise did they? Are you saying we should have spent the money on better options? If so who?

braddock Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 I don't understand how you can say Kean is rubbish. I can understanding wanting someone with more potential. I can understanding preferring Allardyce to him (given the average amount of brain cells this place unfortunately seems to produce). I cannot see how you can see him as rubbish if you have watched how we have performed, and the turn around that took place with a team only Allardyce could manage apparently, who hadn't passed a ball in three years, and had faced upheaval and uncertainty. Surely if you look at what has happened you cannot say he is rubbish. I can admit that Allardyce did a job and would have kept him up too, and I hate the man. I'll criticise him, but I'll never say he is a rubbish manager at what he does. Limited sure, and Kean may be also, but the signs so far given all of the factors is that he has the potential. We've played some good football, against some good teams. We had some bad times too, with a massive injury crisis in his early days, and then an awful run, but whilst they weren't great you have to be open minded enough to see that it was also a time when key decisions bizarrely went against us. You can't look at things on pure statistics, especially when making projections on how things will go in the future. Why keep spreading negativity when every so often you will say that you hope good things happen for Rovers and you are proved wrong? I'm not totally convinced you are if you continue to then say you won't even give the manager a fair chance and seem to revel in any possible negative, many of which are purely conjecture given how long there is until next season. And now back to the thread, just how sturdy are these pre contract agreements then? I don't know much about them, but if you can get around them s there some form of compensation fee behind them for the team who he signed it with? Sorry if this has been asked but I don't know much about them and presumed they'd be binding.
gumboots Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Both players bought with an eye for the future, nobody pretended otherwise did they? Are you saying we should have spent the money on better options? If so who? No I suspect he's suggesting that they were bought on the recommendation of Kentaro and JA in particular who may have made money out of the deals.
Kenwoo Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Criticise the January signings, sure; but I for one cannot wait to see Rochina play a part this season (and he will). Technically he looks a brilliant player.
imy9 Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Phillip my sources tell me that Rochina and Formica are expected to be in the first team squad next season so I guess we'll have to see. Pedigree? Rochina Barcelona- offer to buy him back from us. Formica recently capped by Argentina.
jim mk2 Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 We weren't in a relegation battle when we signed them. All thanks to the points gleaned under Sam and not your mate Steve.
braddock Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 All thanks to the points gleaned under Sam and not your mate Steve. Yeah, those own goals, Diouf fouls and keeper errors. Thanks fatty!
True Blue & White Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Pedigree? Rochina Barcelona- offer to buy him back from us. When did this happen? Formica recently capped by Argentina. Was this the match against Nigeria where not a single player from the WC squad was involved and the nearly entire team were uncapped players? In other words, more like Argentica C.
howzat Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 This constant kean bashing is pathetic. I hate the man but I don't keep going on about it. And what's with the allardyce worshipping he done a steady job no more than that, the way certain posters kiss he's arse you would think he won us the league.
John Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Criticise the January signings, sure; but I for one cannot wait to see Rochina play a part this season (and he will). Technically he looks a brilliant player. Agree, I was impressed with his performances, albeit he is still a bit raw which is to be expected.
ace Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Which has what to do with transfers? Every thread on here seems to descend into bickering pot calling grumpy old kettle..all a little wearing, and very little to do with supporting Rovers or passing on USEFUL insights and exciting gossip.

Referring to a buy back clause I think. He was capped by Argentina as part of looking at might make the step up to the main squad full time. Still impressive.
herbergeehh Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Juve has confirmed their interest in Vucinic, which kinda ruined this post for me- I was about to say that I thought they would go elsewhere with their money... His agent says he's been talking to them, but about more than just M.V., read 'other players', which made me think they weren't really that interested. I still wouldn't bet on him becoming a Juve player, they tend to talk about players more freely in Italy than in England - and we could still offer him a shot at the Premier League. I do think he will leave Roma, who's rebuilding with their new owners.. I'd love to see Rovers make a move sooner rather than later, to see what the player wants, and if nothing else be able to move on to other targets. Rochina looks the part to me, and hopefully Kean has an idea on how to use him next season. It seems like Formica has struggled so far, but according to Jason Roberts he is very popular in the dressing room, which is a good sign, being a young player in a new league. Patience needed, I for one will give him the benefit of the doubt.
yeti-dog Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 From what I hear, we might be struggling to see much contribution from either in them in the first team next season. Let's hope the doomsayers are wrong and both kick on in pre-season.Remains an odd thing to have done- we were slipping into a relegation struggle and all the transfer fees spent went on kids for the following season. rebelmswar, agreed and pick32's post is a classic example of the level of delusion on here. £16.5m basic less fees does not equal £20m. Take at least 20% off the £16.5m and the transfer kitty has grown by about £13m. The add-ons may or may not be forthcoming but for sure they will not turn into cash we can spend before 31 August. You talk about the 'doomsayers' as if you're somehow excluded from them when,in fact, you're one of the prime exponents of said 'doomsayery'. In many ways you're a bit of a busted flush at present having got into bed with that chavvy tyre-kicker Syed. You've got a lot of making up to do before I take anything of what you say at present without a large pinch of salt...
A cup of beans Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 From what I hear, we might be struggling to see much contribution from either in them in the first team next season. Let's hope the doomsayers are wrong and both kick on in pre-season. WHAT DO YOU HEAR ??? BE SPECIFIC FOR ONCE!
vintageadidas Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Rubbish - much more than the manger aspect in attracting peope to the club!
Black Burn Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 And now back to Summer 2011 Transfer...so what do we have? I heard the Vucinic guy or however you spell his name from Roma hasn't signed for Juventus yet? Could it be Blackburn who's turning his head (yeah, right). But we can all hope, right?
Torgeir Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 I hope nicko being quiet means he's overloaded with work Bassong and Danny Rose for Samba would be good, or Pavlyuchenko who is a certain 10+ goal PL striker. Though I understand Venky's from a PR perspective want to purchase players from Brazil, few Brazilian players have enjoyed success in the Premier League. Don't know about you but think we should buy mainly players with experience from a European league, and perhaps one Brazilian player with a certain level of pedigree in order to sell chickens. If we're going for a big name Brazilian I'd rather sign one of the up and coming youngsters instead of an ageing one - now that Luis Fabiano has gone back to Brazil I can't think of many established players we could tempt into joining. Elano or Jo perhaps? Not sure if they are big enough names to be honest...
Kamy100 Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Please can we stop the bickering and stay on topic, or this thread will be closed.
hawkiiz Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 I wonder if all the negative posters are talking loud now, when there is still time to be negative, since I thin we all know that by the end of the window, we will in fact have a better squad than we had a few weeks ago. Can't we try to keep this thread about transfers and not how Kean managed the team last season?
Miker Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 I thought that our signings in January were consistent with the transfer policy proposed by Venky's when they first took over? If I'm not wrong they directly stated that they would look at bringing in loan signings and young players with re-sale value and high potential. Jones/Santa Cruz and Formica/Rochina seem to be in line with that policy, respectively.
nicko Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 I hope nicko being quiet means he's overloaded with work Busier than a Baghdad brickie. There is something involving a Rovers target that appears to be moving today...trying to get to the bottom of it...getting closer to working out what is going on, but when you see the tale you will understand why it is a complex web to unweave. Anyway, back to the day job.
Miker Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 I hear it's the young superstar Azamat Bagbinov from Azerbaijan, they say he's the Azerbaijanian Zidane.
