Thanks for the update Nicko. Hopefully closing in on a few new faces.

No doubt the grumpy element on here will have summat to groan about, whoever signs.

It is getting very hard to stay patient though. I'm not the world's best at patience and i can't decide what is more frustrating - being fed snippets but nothing really happening (not shooting the messenger btw) or not knowing anything and just finding out when it's actually done.

Just finished a hard week at work and logged in just in time to read nicko's update. I'm quite chuffed. I have an inkling that this might be quite an uplifting window. Hoillett sorting his deal out would make me feel a lot better though. Thanks nicko as per

CISSE...nothing good ever came easy...I think you can out-match any other bids...however his wages are fierce...but if you want quality then you will have to pay...he is on plenty in Germany and is at an age when this is his big move...so he won't come cheap...I hope this one comes off...he looks good for English football.

FORLAN...there's an interesting thought...fee cheaper than you would imagine...wages huger than huge...mind you, he has a small personal problem just now.

STURRIDGE...£6 million?...yeah right.

BAEZ...done deal...all agreed...no idea of background...was told there were TWO Paraguayan kids coming...his mate has seemingly gone to Inter Milan.

RUSSIAN...Anjukov still on the cards...down to fee and wages.

MYSTERY MAN...keep hearing someone else is 'done' but no further clues...position, name, nationality, shoe size.

There are a few other balls in the air. But as we have some rival media outlets watching I will keep those to myself for now.

It's been a busy but tough few days.

Thanks for the update, informative as always.

See you at 10.55pm, if I can get on

As in, you wont give any clues or no one is giving you any clues?

From the context of his statement, he keeps hearing something but no further clues - it means he's not getting any more clues, not that he wants to stop feeding us clues.

The reason why Alan Nixon is being secretive and is only feeding us snippets is because of rival media outlets - if he leaks his stories here, they will be all over it and the Mirror won't be able to monopolize the big news he's working so hard to get.

But Cisse sounds like an awesome signing though. I'm not sure if we will get him but I will be crossing my fingers and praying for the best!

It's time for the Blackburn revolution! YAY!

Is there any progress on Hoillet's contract? Is it something that is actively being worked on?

Re: Folan I am not sure i would pay too much for a 32 year old with 'personal problems'. Cisse looks to have an impressive goal scoring record in Germany (but then again so did Sean Dundee lol). I Wonder if the mystery man has anything to do with Kean being in London yesterday. I hope we sign someone soon before we start to get desperate.

They may see Forlan as a marquee signing that may bring in other players and business to the club and to them.

I wouldn't be surprised to see someone like that making an appearance this season.

That's what Crewe do.

To be successful in the top league, you must at least try to keep your best players. Selling them as a policy might make sense financially, but wont bring success on the park.

As do Udinese, and they make a LOT of money doing it. (Sanchez?) Not only that, but their scouting network is one of the best in the world, in my opinion. And this season, they benefited from a real Scudetto challenge, ending the season in Europe.

Cisse is some finisher, and his movement seems great too. Reminds me of Asamoah Gyan- a lot of power in his finishing, and strong ability to find space to shoot. The more I see the more I like the idea of bringing him in...

Is Kean still looking to bring RSC back to Ewood, Alan? An update on Kalinic would be great too, if you have one.

Cisse, Rochina could be a fantastic pairing... Roberts, RSC or Kalinic added to the 2nd new striker, with Hoilett also capable of playing up front.

I have not picked up anything on that this week. Just a head full of targets and names and fees and wages.

But I agree - that is a priority.

I'd be happy with Cisse as the main signing this summer.

Have Venky's actually mentioned a marquee signing recently though? I hope they are keeping quiet and getting on with business in the background. If Nicko's nuggets are to be believed then it appears they are doing so.

Good news

I would have to think Roque is way off the radar after hearing some of the names that are being worked on. Hope so too.

Kalinic will have to wait and find out his fate. If somebody made a bid he would be gone. Nobody has. Wonder why?

From this range I would say Rochina will have to wait to get a game if the players being chased are landed.

Nickos do you know what forlans personal problem is? Not as i think it has any relevance to anything im just being nosey. And thanks for the update.

Yes, I can't really go into it. But if you snoop around the Uruguayan press a couple of weeks back you will find some very strange stories going about.

I wouldn't care to comment.

While Grant Hanley isn't Phil Jones, I'd like to think that his push into the first team has some genuine merit to it. So is signing a QUALITY defender really a priority to us, especially if Samba stays. Samba, Nelsen, Hanley, [insert 3rd/4th choice back-up defenders name here].

Hoilett, Striker, creative Midfielder, Right Back, Left Wing/Back, back-up Defender - that's my priority list. Hopefully then, when we're 3v0 up in all our games ;) the likes of Linganzi, Morris, Lowe, will get chance to experience the Premier League and show us truly what THEY'RE made of.
