How have these clubs got this kind of money to spend? I thought parma were skint?

Contractual agreements, really. Giovinco was signed yesterday on co-ownership by Parma for £2.6m. That will have been in the contract when they took the player on loan from Juventus, meaning that they put it down as a loss in the previous financial year. TV rights will probably take care of that.

Juventus got a €140m investment yesterday, so I'd presume that clubs like Parma have backers and shareholders willing to put SOME money in at least. Then there's the sales they'll make of youth players, co-ownerships and first teamers.

To be honest, I'm surprised Parma aren't skint after paying Amauri's RIDICULOUS wage. ;)

Lots of noise being generated but little being secured which is disappointing with all the 'big guns' having been in and around.

Next week is deadline day for securing youur own seats and there are many 'hanging on' to see what happens in the transfer market.

Jones gone, Samba nearly gone and Hoilett in limbo. On the plus side, another for the 'future' lined-up - there's me thinking the acadamey was the future.

Not being negative but really want to see the club walk the walk rather than talk the talk.

Five weeks post season and despite all the noise, planning, trips to India etc, not a signing delivered. Sounds like we need some operators, including a manager, who can actually make and do a deal.

Yeah I'd be gutted if he slopes down to 20 in 38 PL games next season. ;)

Me too. ;)

It's a gamble, but even at 20 next season, for £12m, it's a good investment, and will rise the interests of "bigger" clubs that will be willing to pay more.

I keep looking at the seats left, and they're all crap, so to those of you "hanging on", keep doing so, because when the deadline comes, I'm having one of your seats. ;)

Same goes for City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Villa, Everton, Stoke, Bolton and many more....it is still VERY early.

We play in the premier league not the SPL, ages away from the start. We have signed 1 young player, and do know that we are in for several players....it all takes time unless you pay way over the odds.

Cheer up Misery.

And I wouldn't mind Forlan at all. He may be 32 but he is exceptionally talented and it appears he keeps himself in playing condition, unlike others.

He would be much better than Ronaldinho or Robinho in my opinion. Far better attitude than Robinho and in better condition than Ronnie. I'd love someone of his experience playing as a striker for Rovers. Especially if we manage to get a younger player alongside him. A big step up from Roque and JR!

Comparisons of Forlan to Ronaldinho are different to me, as Forlan would be bought for a footballing reason, whereas Ronny would be bought for shirt sales, chicken sales, ticket sales and a few skills in the corner when we're 3v0 up. ;)

I thought id heard a rumour a few weeks back juve had a huge amount of money to spend this summer. Giovinco is class. Amauri like you say has to be one of the biggest thiefs in football. No idea how that lad makes it. Hes just a big clumsy oaf. Cant remember any prolific season for him. Sounds like a player at rovers.

It's quite ridiculous that people are getting twitchy about us not having made a signing yet.

There's no prize for the first club to get their transfer window business done.

The emphasis should be on getting it right, not on getting it done quickly!

It's a good job we get 'snippets' from Nicko otherwise i'd fear for the sanity of some people on this board!

Yes you are being slightly negative, you have to admit. Nothing has been done yet, but football moves slowly, usually. Whilst we are from from ready for the new season, we have plenty of potential to be, and there is hardly anything positive in your post at all. I don't understand how you can focus so intently on the negatives. Mentioning them is fine, we have to bear them in mind, but come on, think about it.

Anyone any idea when any of these potential signings will be announced?? Are any of the players mentioned connected to Ventaro??

you mean Kentaro???

i am not sure but if you can find out thier agent and who they work for and so on

if you look at previous posts it would suggest that Kean has consulted Kentaro on his way back from the meeting with the owners last week whether they have a catalogue of players that are available for us to have a look at.

I don't know, I think they are comparable. Both are in the later stages of their careers, both are big on the world scene. Signing him wouldn't be quite as marquee as Ronnie, but it'd still be a marquee signing. Forlan could still sell shirts, chickens and tickets and he's South American. He's just not Brazilian :D

Would be an excellent signing even at 32.

Juventus had nearly nothing to spend up until yesterdays announcement at a shareholders meeting, which is why the deals to take Matri, Quagliarella, Motta and Pepe on Tuesday will take three YEARS to be paid completely, and taking players like Pirlo and Ziegler on free transfers. I think that may be one of the reasons why they were out of the race to sign Alexis Sanchez very early. They had enough to buy Lichsteiner and Beck, and that would be about it until they sold sold sold.

The owners (EXOR I think they're called) don't really care too much about the club. They're more bothered about investing in English Cricket and Formula 1 than investing in Juventus. Or, at least, that's what it seemed like until yesterday.

I really like Giovinco. Another one I wouldn't have minded seeing at Blackburn. Juventus apparently don't rate him high enough. And Amauri? Well, he's just not a player that should play in a team vying for European aspirations. The pressure of Juventus clearly got to him and stopped him from scoring in the league for almost 12 months. (Eat your heart out Fernando Torres.) Thought he was excellent at Palermo. I was excited to see him join Juventus. Since then, he's been a shadow of his former self, until he started to find his feet, scoring 7 goals in 11 appearances.

Maybe he'd be good at a club like ours without the pressure of Europe for a couple of years. But if Kean and Venky's aspirations of European Football are realistic, Amauri isn't someone I'd recommend, personally. Thankfully, those rumours seem to have died down quite a bit.

In a football sense of it, Forlan is a better signing than Ronaldinho. I still rate Forlan, even though I didn't see much of him last season. If the service is right, he's gonna score a shed-load. :D

You are of course quite right, and the sane among us know it, but come on. Aren't there moments when you have that feeling that something just needs to happen and happen now? You know it won't and it probably wouldn't be right if it did, but you crave just that bit of excitement that fans of those clubs who HAVE signed someone must be feeling. I'd far rather take our time and sign the best players we can at the right price, at least when I'm using my head, but as a fan, I also feel impatience when things seem to be taking a long time, that's all.

I'm with you on that, I can't wait for a few signings to be made.

I can't seem to stop checking on here and other sites in anticipation of some summer signings.

I'd love them all today but, at the same time, I understand that we may have to wait for the quality we need.

It just annoys me when some people use the fact that we've not made a signing yet to support whatever negative agenda they may have.

Liverpool have made an initial enquiry at Blackburn regarding Chris Samba, Martin Olssen and David Hoilett. It is believed that a combined offer of 22m would see the deal go through. Blackburn are expected to tie up deals for Pappe Cisse, Ryan Bertrand, Daniel Sturridge of Chelsea, Wes Brown of Man Utd for around 25m within the next week. Kean is also inviting Jonathan Woodgate, Sol Campbell and Owen Hargreaves to pre season training. Kean has also been rebuffed after asking David Moyes about the availability of Tim Cahill and is now to turn his attention towards Jermaine Jenas.
