I don't want players who will rock the boat.

Well according to their PR team (Kamy a 1,000 posts or so ago) all this is for free as far as BRFC is concerned. So if Venky's want to spend millions of pounds on my (and your) football team then let's just go for it. What can we lose as fans? It's all for free! Bring them all in.

Oh, and let Samba go if he can't see what the manager and Venky's are trying to do.

WTF are you on about??

WTF am I on about - then see Nicko's aricle:

"Rovers are prepared to outbid Ukrainian giants Dynamo Kiev for the powerful hit man, but his personal terms have come as a shock to their negotiators".

It should not be a shock to 'professed experts' - simple as that.

Crossroads for the club, if you want a top striker you pay top wages.

To me though as decent as Cisse looks I wouldn't be convinced he's worth the risk of paying £75k a week for, I imagine he's not on close to half of that right now.

A proven striker like Gyan yes but someone untested here is a different matter.

I'd be on the blower to Niall Quinn testing his resolve with a £12-15m bid for Gyan personally failing that a similar offer for Sturridge.

I'd also be enquiring about Bellamys availability.

It will be a risk to pay £12 million plus transfer fee and £75k a week, he is highly rated in Germany but unproven at the very highest level, tough call for Rovers because if he comes here at does well then then the risk will pay off.

Oh God. This is Amauri all over again. He's on 4.3m Euros a year at Juventus, and 12.8m Euros changing hands in cash when he was transferred.

I'm sorry if this is negative, but I'd say we'd be better going for someone who can score Premier League goals. (Now that I've said that, he'll become the best thing in Germany.)

If we MUST sign him, then I'd say give him a basic wage for the first 12 months. Proves himself, then promise him the world with a wage increase and a new deal.

Everyone wants to compete. Now it's time to show a bit of resolve. If we want a player who has proved they can score goals, we are going to have to pay this sort of money or settle for someone of lesser quality. If Venky's is ok footing the bill, let's give him the #9 and see what he can do with it.

How do you work that out?? Say he's on 30k a week now in the bundesliga....how would they have known he wanted £75k a week until they made contact??

Newcastle enquire about Treacy....will we have a sell on clause??

I imagine Sturridge is a on a least £75K a week already, but I agree with your post. Try for the players you mention, then turn back to Cissé. Gotta say though that as long as Cissé scores and our owners can afford his wages I like the thought of having a quality striker in our team again.

It's not unreasonable to think that they should have knowledge of the market in which they work.

Supposedly, we had to pay JJ £80k / week in wages based upon where he was in Germany. Would Cisse be on that much less or expect that much less than JJ ? In fact, Cisse would be looking for a 'premium'.

You got a link for that?

I only read 60K.

Cant remember where it was, either telegraph or nickos article....cant quite find it & there are tons of articles online about him now hes a red rat

JJ was 60k a week and comes from a team who had just qualified for the champs league....

Cisse plays for a mid table team

So yes it would be reasonable to expect his wages to be less or similar to JJ's

You answered your own question really

people keep mentioning we should go for someone else, if cisse's wages are too big but there just arent many top class strikers available. If rovers keep dithering when a player might want big wages or a club want too much then they will keep missing out on these players. Werent they prepared to pay crazy money to ronaldinho in january to get him here? well why cant they push the boat out for a player in his prime who score goals internationally and at club level. Keans keeps harping on about champions league etc, well this is the only way they can even remotely live that dream.

Sunderland signed Gyan for 13m last summer and you think they'd go for 12-15 after a successful first season? Hmmmmm. 10 goals in 31 app 20 starts.

The thing with Roque though is that we only committed to paying it for half a season. £75k for four seasons is significantly more money.

We seem to be in some sort of bubble. If we want top strikers, they will earn top money. Nobody is going to come for £40k just to play for Rovers (well maybe Demba Ba would!) We have no other pulling power except meeting wage demands.

At the end of the day, get Dioufy and Grella off the wage bill and I'm sure that would free up £75k per week and some.

We've got to remember that the lad is 26 so we are gonna be offering him a contract for the 4 prime years of his career. He just scored 22 league goals in a season. He can name his price.

good point, but if he scores a good amount of goals for us, i'm sure we'll have to give him an improved contract to keep him happy and to keep other teams away.

No matter what type of business you operate, you have to have some sort of structure for your pricing and remuneration etc. If you don't, you will then have what is known as 'indefensible terms' which is a recipe for financial disaster. We pay Cisse £75k / week then Robbo, Samba, Hoilett, Olsson etc could all bang on the manager's door demanding new and improved contracts with some relativity. Try defending that one!!! Bang, £15m in wages gone.

Bit surprised at his demands, then again no doubt the likes of Cardoza, would be asking for the same, the cow can only give so much, hope Venky's have a rather large dairy heard in Pune.

Paying this sort of wage is scary. Hope he has a relegation clause.

Samba has been doing that for the last 2 years every few months anyway. Hoilett is hopefully about to get a new bumper contract too.

End of the day goalscorers cost big money. You want to stick to our £35-50k a week then you sign your Elamanders on a free and they will get you 10 goals if your lucky, or you want someone who has just bagged 20+ goals in a season - you need to pay bigger money. Its that simple....unless you unearth your own goalscoring gem.
