Backroom Tom Posted June 24, 2011 Backroom Posted June 24, 2011 Sunderland signed Gyan for 13m last summer and you think they'd go for 12-15 after a successful first season? Hmmmmm. 10 goals in 31 app 20 starts. Personally no but Nicko seemed to think he was for sale. I just think we should try for people who we know can score in the Premiership ideally if we are going to spend that cash, should they not be available then Cisse looks like he could be a very good player, I am just wary of getting hyped about players I've only seen on Youtube. All I'm saying is it's not like we are getting him cheap because he isn't proven here which is what normally happens, you pay less and take the risk, here we seem to be paying full whack and still taking the risk. If Sturridge was available for a couple of million more then I think it would be worth it potentially.

How did that work out?
herbergeehh Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 We've lost the boat before- Dzeko and Osvaldo springs to mind, in recent times- I have a feeling we will get Cisse in the end. Huge gamble, but as someone pointed out, it's what we have to do if we want a top class striker. There's no real bargain striker out there ala Benni, Bellamy or RSC - the competion is too stiff for that. Well, Bellamy...
chaddyrovers Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Gyan is on about 60 to 80k a week at Sunderland and Sturridge is on about the same i reckon. I would take the risk on Papiss Cisse. He knows where the goal is and and has pace to get in behind defences which we do not have at the club.
Roberto Policano Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 A dangerous path to take... No way is the guy worth those wages,40k-45k tops, like i said before in my opinion he ain't worth £10-12 million either. £8-9 million tops. The Bundesliga was a poor standard last season with alot of teams off colour,Freiburg usually battle relegation, but thrived in other teams failure.
47er Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 I asked this last night no one answered. Yes------its 20%. Read it weeks ago and can't remember where. (Sell-on clause for Treacy)
Hughesy Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 If Sturridge was available for a couple of million more then I think it would be worth it potentially. Sturridge is already on more than £75k and will cost closer to £20m. Demba ba wanted £75k and was available for free. We had RSC last season on 90k, at least this guy would score some goals for his money. The best way to look at it, would be - IF we had a 15-20 goal striker last season, what would that have done for our final placing? With £800k a place up for grabs, 6 more points last season would have seen us end up 6 places higher....that would have paid for his entire wages + more. You want goals, you gotta pay for it - simple!

Myles Anderson Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Cisse- Martin Dahlin replica or real deal? Tough Call 75k tooo much, way tooo much Why is there no other P.L clubs after this guy if he's so good Something does not feel right about this deal
SergioPeter89 Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Does anyone know which kind of money Liverpool would want for Aquilani, and how high his wages would be? Would be a quality signing in my opinion. Never really got the chance in Liverpool, but when he did, I think he did good. I think he has been outstanding for Juventus this season, although some might disagree.

Backroom Tom Posted June 24, 2011 Backroom Posted June 24, 2011 But were we paying all £90k for Roque I can't recall? The lad looks a good player but I can't help but think £75k a week for an unproven entity is a dangerous precedent to set.
Blackburn Ravers Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Gotta speculate to accumulate, Get Cisse signed up
Hughesy Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 But were we paying all £90k for Roque I can't recall? Yes - straight out of Venkys pocket I think. Another way to see Cisse's wages....Grella & EHD will be earning similar if not more between them, lose them, dont really lose anything needed and swap with a goalscorer in Cisse
Myles Anderson Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Gotta speculate to accumulate, Ah! Portsmouth's and Risdale's motto did'nt do them any harm good post
chaddyrovers Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 The sun newspaper linking us to MV, PC, RSC http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/3658145/Blackburn-Rovers-boss-Steve-Kean-hopes-to-smash-the-clubs-transfer-record-by-signing-Romas-Mirko-Vucinic.html

Of course, the trick is finding someone dumb enough to take Grella.
aXept Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 For those that think £75K is way too much.. What player that is proven in PL and scores 15-20 + goals in a season and is available these days that don't have/want high wages? Yes, it may be a risk, but we have to take some risks, and we surely need a striker that scores goals.

pick32 Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 wonder if its cisse or vucinic. think nicko said we were looking at at a main striker for around 15-20million and a younger one for 5-10million. Would be ideal if we could get them both for around the 25million mark providing we still have enough for a center mid.
Mozzer Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 if we signed cisse , vucinic and santa cruz my god we will be aiming for more then top ten ha ..they all wont happen reo coker would be a decent free transfer in my opinion

Never really got the chance in Liverpool, but when he did, I think he did good. I think he has been outstanding for Juventus this season, although some might disagree. 3.3m Euros after tax. So, he was taking home 63k a week. He was good for Juve last season, but Liverpool wanted £14m for him. Juventus laughed, instead opting for Pirlo on a free, and around 3m Euros a year for the next three years.
aXept Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Well, people here talking about that its way too much to pay for an unproven player, so I wonder if they know about a player that IS proven in PL and dont have/want high wages. I didnt say that Cisse is the answer... Edit: I think Cisse can be a good signing
Myles Anderson Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 if we signed cisse , vucinic and santa cruz my god we will be aiming for more then top ten ha ..they all wont happen reo coker would be a decent free transfer in my opinion Reo-Coker woild be a great signing on a free i'd like to see us being linked with some cd's though, i think Samba's 100% going this summer,
67splitscreen Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 I certainly hope these wages being quoted are players gross wage and not us paying PAYE & NI on top.
