Sunderland signed Gyan for 13m last summer and you think they'd go for 12-15 after a successful first season? Hmmmmm. 10 goals in 31 app 20 starts.

Personally no but Nicko seemed to think he was for sale.

I just think we should try for people who we know can score in the Premiership ideally if we are going to spend that cash, should they not be available then Cisse looks like he could be a very good player, I am just wary of getting hyped about players I've only seen on Youtube.

All I'm saying is it's not like we are getting him cheap because he isn't proven here which is what normally happens, you pay less and take the risk, here we seem to be paying full whack and still taking the risk.

If Sturridge was available for a couple of million more then I think it would be worth it potentially.

Eh, we had a striker last season on £90k a week who's proven in this league.

How did that work out?

We've lost the boat before- Dzeko and Osvaldo springs to mind, in recent times- I have a feeling we will get Cisse in the end. Huge gamble, but as someone pointed out, it's what we have to do if we want a top class striker. There's no real bargain striker out there ala Benni, Bellamy or RSC - the competion is too stiff for that. Well, Bellamy...

Gyan is on about 60 to 80k a week at Sunderland and Sturridge is on about the same i reckon.

I would take the risk on Papiss Cisse. He knows where the goal is and and has pace to get in behind defences which we do not have at the club.

A dangerous path to take...

No way is the guy worth those wages,40k-45k tops, like i said before in my opinion he ain't worth £10-12 million either.

£8-9 million tops. The Bundesliga was a poor standard last season with alot of teams off colour,Freiburg usually battle relegation, but thrived in other teams failure.

Sturridge is already on more than £75k and will cost closer to £20m.

Demba ba wanted £75k and was available for free.

We had RSC last season on 90k, at least this guy would score some goals for his money. The best way to look at it, would be - IF we had a 15-20 goal striker last season, what would that have done for our final placing? With £800k a place up for grabs, 6 more points last season would have seen us end up 6 places higher....that would have paid for his entire wages + more.

You want goals, you gotta pay for it - simple!

Or a half decent manager !!!!!!!! Sorry, couldn't resist that one.

Does anyone know which kind of money Liverpool would want for Aquilani, and how high his wages would be?

Would be a quality signing in my opinion. Never really got the chance in Liverpool, but when he did, I think he did good.

I think he has been outstanding for Juventus this season, although some might disagree.

Wages more than 75k anyhow

But were we paying all £90k for Roque I can't recall?

The lad looks a good player but I can't help but think £75k a week for an unproven entity is a dangerous precedent to set.

Yes - straight out of Venkys pocket I think.

Another way to see Cisse's wages....Grella & EHD will be earning similar if not more between them, lose them, dont really lose anything needed and swap with a goalscorer in Cisse

Good way to look at it Hughesy. Of course, the trick is finding someone dumb enough to take Grella.

For those that think £75K is way too much..

What player that is proven in PL and scores 15-20 + goals in a season and is available these days that don't have/want high wages?

Yes, it may be a risk, but we have to take some risks, and we surely need a striker that scores goals.

wonder if its cisse or vucinic. think nicko said we were looking at at a main striker for around 15-20million and a younger one for 5-10million. Would be ideal if we could get them both for around the 25million mark providing we still have enough for a center mid.

3.3m Euros after tax. So, he was taking home 63k a week.

He was good for Juve last season, but Liverpool wanted £14m for him. Juventus laughed, instead opting for Pirlo on a free, and around 3m Euros a year for the next three years.

Well, people here talking about that its way too much to pay for an unproven player, so I wonder if they know about a player that IS proven in PL and dont have/want high wages.

I didnt say that Cisse is the answer...

Edit: I think Cisse can be a good signing :)
