Can a myth be busted here???

of ALL the potential transfers that have been rumoured and speculated upon so far (both in and out)how many of the players are represented by Kentaro?

Statistically completely irrelevant. Anybody can speculate, and can outright make things up if they want (Even *gasp* red top journos- not a dig at Nicko at all). All that matters is how many of those we SIGN are represented by Kentaro. Which might not even matter either- there are other clubs who sign Kentaro players too.

It's about raising the bar. Once one gets it they all want it!

Not so sure. I know footbalers aren't the sharpest bunch but I'm pretty sure they would still recognize a higherarchy of ability. I can't imagine any of the championship winning side being on as much as Shearer for example and can't imagine they would demand to be paid the same.

Yer that is true but id say our best players at the moment would look at there wages and then look at cisses's wages and think they deserve to be on the same amount.

It's just like if u had a job and was doing a good job at it for the last 2 years and then somebody else comes in and does the same job as you but is getting a hell of a lot more money for it you'd start asking questions about your own wages wouldn't you

Problem is you cannot afford to pay those sort of wages on your current turnover without financial assistance.

Lets hope for your sake your owners don't get bored in 2-3 years time.

Very good point Roberto and one that should be pinned at the top of this discussion.

Scunny, if Roberts had scored 22 goals last season I'd give him £75k!! Think that's the key here. A goalscorer will cost us money. We just need to make sure we get the right one. I'd still be asking about Cardozo, surely wage demands would be similar.

a very excellent point Ricky. Goalscorers cost money. Defoe, D Bent, Crouch, Pav, Cardozo would want similar wages and cost similar transfer fees.

Look at D Bent he went to Villa for 24 million and about 80k a week and he scored goals for them and kept them up!!!

Kean has to choose the striker he wants to fit into his style of play and system we are going to play this season coming!!!

we need a goalscorer for sure!!!

On Cisse.

His wages are already huge...and he will not be coming for less, especially when there is major interest elsewhere.

The size of that salary is a 'shock' - as are the other extras - but you only find them out when you [a] know what you have to spend and speak to the people who look after him.

[a] only became known when you stayed up and then added the sale of Phil Jones to the kitty and has only just been established.

It is clearly a lot of money. The past few days have confirmed that salaries have gone mental for top strikers. You only really find that out when you chase good ones - and in ALL cases just now there are other clubs out there competing for these targets.

From what I gather Vucinic's complete package and fee plus the amount of opposition about has just about ruled him out. Another top European striker has also been scrubbed from the list. Others have been looked into, investigated in full and are now being weighed up with the help of calculators.

There are some new names whose availability have come up...and maybe at a good time.

Got to say that the last week has been as crazy as I have ever heard it at this club. An awful lot of inquiries, some cracking names.

But it is about signing people and delivering.

Major test. However you have a fighting chance and won't be giving up easily.

EVERY player you have asked about is over-priced. So the top people are going to have to swallow it and get spending. I am sure the cost of this whole exercise is MUCH more than anyone expected.

But that is Premier League football in the summer of 2011.

Unless you're a teacher in which case you look at incompetents around you doing poor jobs, do their jobs as well as your own and anything else that's thrown at you and can't, without major upheaval moving to a different school, even discuss your wages.

Thanks for you input Alan. Interesting times indeed. A goalscorer is clearly the difference between pushing into the top half of the table and floating around relegation.

Any idea if Cardozo has been looked at.

Not really. Its true about virtually every premier league football club at the minute. If the owners walk away then the club is in serious trouble, but that's a given. So many people have been questioning whether Venky's have the ambition or the money to improve the team and now it seems like they have both and there are concerns over the consequences of them walking away.

The truth is that if we only spent within our means then we'd be in the championship within 2/3 seasons. Benjani on a free and Mame Diouf on loan last summer testifies to that.

Absolutely, gumboots. Incompetence, apathy and lack of pride in work is all around us -not just in your profession, I'm afraid. Those of us who believe in doing your best for the cause (whatever line of work you are in) are sadly getting fewer.

The issue for us is that income, because of crowds/season ticket prices, is less than most.

Yes------its 20%. Read it weeks ago and can't remember where. (Sell-on clause for Treacy)

A North Ender tells me it's 40%

Similar to the sell-on clause for Garner who moved to Carlisle then Forrest.

Seem to recall we made £1m out of that.

What about Aron Gunnarsson DM. I saw him play for Iceland U21 this month and he looks really good. He plays for Coventry but is becoming a free agent.

Watched a couple of games at the Ricoh since Throrn took over. He's a pretty good, but I think he'd be a squad player and not a first 11 player. No better than Nzonzi.

As for Cisse, providing he isn't asking for something like £100,000 p/w basic wage, I'd risk it. Strikers often have huge wages, and sadly you have to pay the going rate. I guess we're so used to getting some old injury prone pro on a Bosman and a small wage that returning to these kind of deals takes some getting used to.

Exactly. So in order to compete we have to spend beyond what we bring in ourselves. Which is why we needed to be bought. Which is why worrying about whether Venky's walk away is rather irrelevant because its a risk we had to take in order to survive in the league.

Someone talks about us breaking even on this deal... If he scores 20 goals next season then we've broken even.

I remember he ran the cup game at Ewood a couple of years ago.Jesus, how old was he then if he's still in the under-21's. Good little midfield scrapper, but would be a squad player here contributing way more than Grella and Andrews.

75k for Cisse, Do it!
