Summer 2011 Transfer Window Part Two

8 mid-fielders competing for 2 spots and none of them good enough. It really is pathetic.

On second thoughts I'd exempt Emerton from that criticism. After an age of being really ordinary he came good last season.

This sums up why things had to change, we simply have to restock the squad with better and younger players, and someone has to pay for that.

The guy has made genuine points. Why throw that rubbish at him?

That's the sort of post which is ruining the MB.

Really? You think? I have yet to see anything even remotely resembling support from him on here, just constant nay saying and criticsm, hence his nick name Miseryman but then you are both Samettes aint you! ;)

why do my posts keep getting removed ? that is 2 in 2 days.

If there is an issue with them, please cna you PM me, bu tI can`t see why as they are just uncontroversial posts :angry2:

As I mentioned earlier in the thread, I'm ditching dozens on none transfer related posts daily. 99% aren't worthy of a PM (as there is nothing really wrong with them, they are just off topic and probably would have stayed in a less fast-moving thread). It could also be that if they were player specific comments, they've been moved to a player specific thread.

.... and it's not just you, I'm doing it do everyone.

I just want to say thanks to nicko, he lets everyone know all potential transfers and rumors and yet certain people think it's okay to be somewhat rude towards him.

Without him we would have absolutely no idea what was going on.

thanks!

It's most definitely lining up to be an incredibly exciting transfer window

Firmly believe through friend connected with B'pool that £5m would have got him very early doors in Jan. before he started pulling-up trees. Once he really hit form, from about 10 Jan., and people started taking notice then agree that he went beyond our reach. Seem to remember you suggesting that we played a waiting game to see what others first did. However, that's history now.

That is absolute crapola in my opinion, just a total fabrication. Adam was consistently good week in week out, with a few off days I think your notion of him only coming good comes from heightened attention he was getting as the "big" clubs stepped up their interest.

We've got to remember that the lad is 26 so we are gonna be offering him a contract for the 4 prime years of his career. He just scored 22 league goals in a season. He can name his price.

You've also got to consider he has only really had 1 big season and that makes him a massive risk. Throwing a largely untested player into a high paced league and paying him shed loads of cash is of concern. The eggs would be firmly all in 1 basket!

What about Aron Gunnarsson DM. I saw him play for Iceland U21 this month and he looks really good. He plays for Coventry but is becoming a free agent.

He was really highly rated but it all went to his head and he is now not wanted by anyone. It would be worth a punt as a development project on a small wage as he could be a good player.

Do you reckon we'd be able to sell Cisse for circa £20m in 2 years time? That's what we'd need to do to break even on the deal.

You need to take into account the benefits gained from him playing for the club.

Seriously - let him go on a free

Hughesey....You should know by now that there is no such thing as letting a player go on a free. There is nothing free about it.... Oh yes there is no tranfer fee involved, but the player has had his contract terminated and the club will have to pay him every single penny of whatever is remaining on his contract just to get rid of him, so what's the point?

sunderland close to signing craig gardner - we should be all over this deal

Not if we want to progress to a top 10 side....he's average, not good enough if you wana be pushing on though

Alou Diarra is 30 next month, hope we avoid that one too!

USA Blue - has always been a decent player for B'pool and has got better and better. However, approaching mid Jan., he really kicked-on and that's when lots more clubs started taking notice. Have watched B'pool on numerous occasions over the last few years owing to my friend there, so might just be a bit closer than you are in the USA!

Are you seriously suggesting a players value doubled because of a couple of good games in January?

Sort of what I was getting at. I must admit you have me on the watching Blackpool over the years but they were on Telly here quite a bit and he looked as good early doors as he did in the top form two weeks in Jan. Again my opinion only. Anyway I'm likely to get in trouble for straying off topic so let's just agree to disagree but with you being wrong. ;)

There's absolutely no doubt that Jan. saw significantly more media attention focused on Adam as he hit the headlines with some eye catching performances. His value rocketed as a result. Do you remember offers from Brum & Villa of around £2m - yes they were pish taking offers but clearly made for a player not then rated anywhere near £10m - would have been akin to Chelsea offering L'pool £10m for Torres. Also, speculated on here, with various inputs from Nicko, that Villa were in for Samba at anything from £5m to £8m and there was debate on here that we'd be lucky to get anywhere near £10m - now £15m is being talked about which is more than double amounts initially mentioned. So for some players, a lot of 'noise' and a couple of headlining performances (Samba @ WHAM for example) does drive-up the value.

Your mate reckoned £5m would have got Adam so that must be an accurate estimate. On that basis why not have yet another pop at Venky's and Kean for not signing him up? I never realised you were so in the loop. Maybe I should be taking your opinions more seriously from now on.

Or maybe not.

On that basis why not have yet another pop at Venky's and Kean for not signing him up? If Sam had still have been in charge and with Venky's investment, IMO, he'd now be a Rovers' player - It's no secret that Adam was on Sam's list with a ringing endorsement from TP I never realised you were so in the loop. Maybe I should be taking your opinions more seriously from now on. Or maybe not. Not in any loop neither do I pretend to be.

Should we avoid JJ he's 29?

Not if the price is right. Clearly, different type of player to Tugay where age / legs less of an issue. When Jones' legs and engine start to wane, wont be the same player, as happened with Savage.

Don't really see much relevance to current transfer targets etc in regards to the whole Adam debate, fact is we didn't get him and Liverpool didn't get him despite an 8m bid, water under the bridge lets look to who we are targetting now.

Normally agree with Hughesy but I reckon Alou Diarra would be worth a punt at 4m, French national captain younger than JJ, currently keeping some exceptional defensive midfielders out of the french side (Toulalan@10m and Blaise Matuidi@8-10m) and apparently cheaper than JJ. Has at least some experience in the UK when he wasnt given the slightest chance by Hoilier so might have something to prove, has certainly done well since leaving.

Also don't think age is a huge matter for the chap, he is a very athletic chap who we should get 3-4 seasons out of, would also aid his french mate and fellow def midfielder Nzonzi.

An offer of £5m for Adam wouldn't even have kept Karl Oyston on the phone, even at 12:00:01 on the 1st January. He was integral to Blackpools survival and therefore invaluable to them

Also to suggest had Sam still been here he would have signed him is also wide of the mark, even IF Adam was one of Sam's targets right behind Santa Cruz. Once Blackpool had accepted our bid then the cat would have been out the bag, alerting other clubs who would have blown 'the expert' out of the water....in my opinion of course
