If only we had some sort of structure at this club, it shows that there are players to be had at the right price

One club in the entire world makes a transfer which hardly anybody else was rumoured for yet it's us who get the blame? If they are that good why didn't other Prem clubs go in for them. Not saying players are only good if you have rivals for their signature, but there must be a reason nobody went for them. Reasons we wouldn't know about, be it affecting the players interest, or the clubs interest.

I am hardly blaming the club here - I would say that wingers are the positions we least need right now.

Rather just a passing comment that with the proper board positions in place and clarification over who is actually in charge of finding players, there are excellent players out there to be had within whatever the latest budget is rumoured to be.

It would be nice to get back to the days when purported transfers were not the rollercoaster ride they currently feel to be

Newcastle is apparently buying Gabriel Obertan from ManU for 3 million. Set to sign a 5 year deal. We should have moved on that.

He is awful.

Like a duck with learning difficulties.

Carew set to sign for west ham.

Seriously? I wish we'd gone for him. He's the sort of player you want on the bench when you need a plan B.

Sam is building a pretty impressive team down there. Not sure about his claims that his style will change to please West Ham fans though - Carew, Nolan, Abdoulaye Faye...

I wouldn't say we missed the boat.

That implies we would have wanted them.

I wouldn't want Carew at the club. He'll find his level now as a very good Chumpionship player at his age.

What better than the evergreen Jason Roberts?......

Nice bloke but I really do hope this season is Jason's last with us. He's gone from around 4th choice to our mainline striker in the space of a few seasons. Sign of the times I suppose.

I'm in a minority, but I don't see the fuss about Carew. A good free transfer, but he gets niggly injuries and can have quite a few games where he has no effect. If he was really good, Villa and Stoke would have kept him. Still better than Roberts though.

With Carew, Carlton Cole, Parker and Nolan West Ham have the quality to be at least where we finished last season if not Bolton level.

Getting back to the City outcasts, I hope Onuoha becomes available for silly money when we're still in the CB hunt.

You do remember that they got relegated last season don't you fylde?

That's the fascinating thing about them, though. They've consistently and massively underperformed for the last five years or so, culminating in their current position. The blame lies 100% with poor management of the team and the club.

Back on topic though, Chelsea have agreed a fee for Romelu Lukaku and he'll have a medical next week.
