Damien Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 I always liken Harry to Del boy from only fools and horses!
67splitscreen Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 We are told Kean is keen on Keane. I am not... Keane does not fit the current stratergy that seems still to be in place after Kentaro, young, potential and a resale value. Even if he was keen I doubt he'd get his wages passed. If we were to consider swaps I would leave all the cast off's alone and target Kyle Walker with enough left over to buy the CD of our choice. Walker looked really impressive at Villa on loan last season. Ciaran Clark had a brilliant debut season with 20 appearance he would be a target for me as a CB. Both players not exactly what you would call experienced but worth a dabble IMO. Not forgetting Kamys tweet last night "the main course" which I suspect is a striker, probably Balaji's.
dubdubdub Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 I always liken Harry to Del boy from only fools and horses! Na...he's Droopy. As for driving a hard bargain, I feel Mrs D may do the same. Look at the Kalinic saga (as well as the Jones one). To ask for anything more than four million was taking the ###### and they got six and asked for eight! Mental.
Damien Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 I actually hope we don't sell samba... It's far too late now to find a replacement who will have the respect and influence that samba has! We would get by but how many goals would we concede due to sloppy defending from lack of understanding! It's too late now for samba to leave and even though it may be hard to keep him, we must try!
LeChuck Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Keane does not fit the current stratergy that seems still to be in place after Kentaro, young, potential and a resale value. Not only that, he doesn't fit in with the current squad of players we have. We need someone who can lead the line. Keane can't do that.
BigBar Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Question...do you think Samba would still want to leave or be interested in leaving if Big Sam was still in charge??
BigBar Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Well any suggestions as to replacements if he does go??
chaddyrovers Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 If we sold Samba to spurs and we got Defoe and Dann with the money would be people be happy with this? I'm just asking the question btw.
heysham rover Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Yes, it wont be enough money though to get them both
BigBar Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Id be extremely happy but what valuations you putting on them each?? Im not buying the Scott Dann links, Liverpool, Arsenal etc...Roger Johnson went the same route...ended up at Wolves! Says it all really...
TheNews Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Defoe at value is at best the same as Samba but they may well get more elsewhere for him, as I said earlier if Berba goes PSG which I think will happen, don't be surprised to see manu go in for Defoe. If we really want him we need to move fast imo

Roger Johnson went for about 7 million to wolves.
AJW Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 its very rare to see swaps these days but i would value Samba closer to £15 than the repotred £10m Spurs are offering , Kranjaer i like ,and he's the right age Defoe is till a class finisher but i just dont know where/how he fits in with Hoillet , Formica , Goodwillie , and possibly this vierinha chap??
TheNews Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Defoe about 6 to 8 million Dann is about 7 to 8 million. Roger Johnson went for about 7 million to wolves. Good luck with that one
Gav Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 I don't think that's quite true now, is it? Care to explain?

If we really want him we need to move fast imo Hmmmmmm cant really see that, Owen seems to be preparing to play a bigger role this season and think he has been told he will be otherwise may have looked elsewhere for regular footy and is banging them in pre season...

If we really want him we need to move fast imo But do we? I'm not convinced. Nor am I sure how he'd fit into what looks like it may be our plans for the coming season. Besides [and, yes, I know that our Manager's home address is in Surrey and that Chimbonda's home address when he played for us was in Essex], I'd be surprised if he'd re-locate to the North West. Am I being old-fashioned in expecting him to?
67splitscreen Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Not only that, he doesn't fit in with the current squad of players we have. We need someone who can lead the line. Keane can't do that. Goodwillie and Rochina can play Keane's role we really do not need him.
broadsword Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Care to explain? Would you care to explain how we nailed them to the wall? We let him talk to Man Utd after they bid 16. After he'd agreed terms and had a medical we managed to get an extra 4 of add-on's. So a total of 20 if all goes well, but I think he's worth more than 20. So no, I don't think we nailed them to the wall in any sense.
BuckyRover Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 I do love it when people say he's worth more. 20m for a 19 year old defender with 30 or so appearances is without precedent.

So no, I don't think we nailed them to the wall in any sense. We wouldn't let him sign until we got an extra 4m, so regardless of your valuation of Jones we certainly screwed them out of an extra 4m quid, wouldn’t have happened under the old guard, it would have been 16.5m and bend over its Man Utd. Back to Samba.
rog of the rovers Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Spurs bid £2m+player according to Glen Mullan on twitter
