Hehehe, yeah Crouch murdered Samba for that goal at Ewood last season.

Crouch would be great for Rovers, as a spearhead for our quick, tricky wingers and 'in the hole types' he'd be perfect. His link up play is really first rate and I think he has a lot more 'football intelligence' than he is given credit for. Never mind his consistent goal threat.

Isn't he one of 'arry's chosen ones though? I doubt it would ever be a goer.

I agree with this, Crouch would be ideal for us for the reasons you have mentioned.

Would never happen though, and to be honest i'm not sure i would want to lose Samba for him.

heard defoe refused newcastle.. cos he doesnt like pardew! managed him briefly at west ham and they didnt get on.

interestingly pardew also sold james and and few others that were big voices in the west ham dressing room, with strong opinions. he's doing it again...

carroll, nolan, barton and enrique.

Defoe, next stop Villa ????

Wow wow wow wow wow......less of that den

You used to be such a nice, positive chap :D

Sometimes it has to be done Gav.

and I'm still a nice chap, just always been a bit of a pessimist I know. After watching rovers all this time, I blame them for all the let downs. :rolleyes:

I'm confess to not being a football expert, but I would be okay with a Crouch for Samba trade.

The problem then would be replacing Samba and Jones for little or no money Steve.

Last time I looked Crouch was playing centre forward not centre half so how does that work ?

We get Crouch as a CF, taking care of the 1-2 spots that we need to fill there.

We then need two CBs to replace Samba and P. Jones. Or one, if we move Givet over but then we need one CB and one LB.

A Crouch for Samba deal does not reduce our need for incoming players as a gross number, but does shift the focus from forwards to defenders. Which is to our advantage financially, I believe.

I hope the above makes sense to you.

I hope Rovers keep their stance, Keep Samba, or if they do let him go its for major major money, especially if it Spurs :lol:

We already need 1 centre back and getting 2 this late in the day is not going to be easy.

If Rovers really wanted Spurs cast off's Samba would of been at Spurs weeks ago.

Buying players is not done randomly, Blackburn have highlighted where they would like strenghten, and started the process of doing this, If we suddenly get players thrown at us that upsets that plan then the logical answer will be no.

Spurs want x amount for various of their players, and will have to practice what they preach, and cough up accordingly, Only a cash deal would suit Rovers IMO

Is the Mongongu deal still on Glen?

We have already lost our best centre half so the prospect of losing our next-best centre half and replacing him with a centre forward and being highly unlikely to replace said next-best centre half given that the season is fast approaching makes absolutely no sense at all.

If we do lose Samba which I desperately hope we do not, we have zero option but to take Bassong coming in the opposite direction... if he would come to Rovers.

Virtually no clubs go into a PL season with less than five central defenders. We'd be down to Nelsen and Givet and one extremely raw Hanley.

what is everyones views on trying to get steven taylor from newcastle as a replacement?

my view... aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh! :P

i would value the big fella at 20M....so how much cash from them, plus defoe/kranjcar would suffice??

15-20M IMO

john oshea went for 5m dont forget! :unsure:

Defoe = 10-12M

Kranjcar = 4-6M

Any cash would be a bonus in my eyes so maybe just ear mark it for their wages. I'd be happy for straight swaps and their wages allocated for. I wouldn't value Samba at £20M though yet in today's market (think Jagielka) I'd say he is. CRAZY!
