ChrisyG Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 Kean said post match that we have no plans to sell Samba and he is a big part in 'what we are trying to do'. What are we trying to do? I was just going to post the same thing! That phrase makes me so angry. What a complete bell end. I wish a journalist would ask him the direct question - what are you trying to do Steve?

rossyrover Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 Samba is good on the air but poor with the ball at his feet,Givet is reasonable in the but better on the ground so if the price is right sell Samba and use the money for four new players.

How many times does it need saying - if we sell Samba the money will not beinvested in new players. Stop dreaming and get real - Venkys or whoever will either use it to pay the bank back the money they didn't cough up or it will be squandered on rubbish that costs a fortune in agents fees.
Mattyblue Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 'Sell Samba and bring in 3 or 4 new players.' Hmmm worked well with the Jones sale, didn't it?
John Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 Buy 4 new players who are likely to be average whilst losing a quality player, yeah makes great sense. Especially with an awful manager in charge, we need as much quality on the pitch as possible.
den Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 Did someone actually just say that givet is as good as samba? He's nowhere near. Did someone also say that Givet is better on the ground than Samba?
imy9 Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 Givet IMO playing at CB is as good as Samba, similar qualities. The point I made was IF the money was invested in 4-5 players I would agree with the sale- the issue being I am not at all confident that this would happen.
dopper69 Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 Overrated for his aerial ability and his second touch is always a tackle IMHO. 8M + will be a fair price
roverandout Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 sambas 'ability on the ground' won us a penalty at man utd as well as a goal at sunderland, hes one of the best all-round defenders in the premiership, im not saying hes technically great because he isnt but his game isnt based around that, hes an old fashioned in-your-face defender who throws his body on the line, cahill is going for £7 million and he only has 6 months on his contract, i would say samba is at least a £12 million defender.
Jock Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 Overrated for his aerial ability and his second touch is always a tackle IMHO. 8M + will be a fair price And do what with it? Buy the next Pele or Best or Finney. The more we get of Keans signings in the more rubbish we'll be saddled with.
ada2020 Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 Kean said post match that we have no plans to sell Samba and he is a big part in 'what we are trying to do'. What are we trying to do? It's obvious, get relegated.
blueboy3333 Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 According to The Mirror Samba will decide his future in next 48hrs and may hand in transfer request. Or he may not...and if he does it might be accepted...then again it might not...and if it is a bid may be accepted etc... I think he'll leave.
roverandout Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 nicko reckons spurs offering cash plus a player or two for samba, personally at this stage i would take it, its clear samba doesnt want to be here so we can finally put this to bed whilst getting money for hoillet and samba plus a couple of players and then spend the cash, what we get of it, on some decent replacements, i know replacing samba would be almost impossible without spending alot of money but its best to cut the umbilicle cord once and for all and move on.
LeChuck Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 In my humble opinion anything over 12 million and we should sell Samba. Givet is as good a defender and if that money allows us to sign 4-5 solid pl players than I am for the sale. 4-5 solid players with £12 million?! Not a chance. If Spurs are interested I'd demand Corluka or Bassong as part of the deal, then use the money to get a strong central midfielder.
Mercer Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 We will really struggle to attract anyone of note, IMO. It will be desperados, third raters and last pay day merchants. More of Petro, Goodwillie, Simon etc.

More of Petro, Goodwillie, Simon etc. We might have a chance at getting players on loan who just want to put themselves in the shop window for the summer transfer window. I'd be asking Man Utd about taking Gibson, especially with Scholes back on the scene.
John Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 This buy 4-5 decent players never happens - one thing you can be pretty sure of when you sell your best players, their replacement won't be a good as them especially when we are concerned.

We never do buy better players when we sell our best players. Think what we did with the money after the following left-duff, bentley, roque, warnock, shearer, sutton etc et Think in our current position the players we'll sign will be good championship players/ok prem players
mjwood00 Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 Far more foundation in the QPR rumours now. We should be afraid.
Mercer Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2083939/Harry-Redknapp-rocked-Ledley-King-KO.html Will be gone now, IMO, before Fulham match.

Hughesy Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 Im sorry but £10m isnt enough....he is that good. He is critical to our ambitions to stay up! The only way id let Samba go is for a massive offer, or a player exchange + cash deal which makes us stronger overall.
philipl Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 The QPR developments are critical. I fear that is where he will go and if they offer a reasonable sub-£10m sum, the Bank will be the arbiter of whether it is enough or not.
davulsukur Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 If QPR appoint Mark Hughes as manager, then i can see Samba going there. A £5million won't do it mind you, but as said above £10million should be enough, even if we do think its too low. Spurs need a new CB and Cahill, who Harry bid for previously, is off the list. I can see them both whacking in accpetable bids and Samba moving, most likely to Spurs.
Kamy100 Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 The only way id let Samba go is for a massive offer, or a player exchange + cash deal which makes us stronger overall. Spurs are offering players in exchange but these players are on big wages, with Rovers trying to reduce the wage bill, only a cash offer will be acceptable. But agree they will need to offer a lot more than £10 million regardless of what the bank says.
