With decent owners in 'normal' times I would agree with you, Chaddy. Samba is certainly worth at least that in my book. But I think Venkys are quite possibly under signficant pressure to generate income and to begin making payments to Barclays. If they judge themselves unlikely to bring in cash from sales of other players they will not be in a strong position to negotiate on Samba. The only way I can see price going over £10m is if PSG and/or others flexing their financial muscle to secure a quick purchase.

Yeah I agree. I think they'll sell him for any decent offer. If no-one else goes over 7mil, they'll probably sell him for that.

After all, nob-head will have convinced them that we have the latest Chris Smalling and Denis Irwin waiting in the wings. And of course, we do, don't we ?

I reckon the old Denis Irwin in his current state would do a better job at full-back.

I actually think Kean will probably be angry at Samba potentially being sold- he must know it would be a massive blow to any chances of staying up. Not angry enough to resign though, eh?!

I reckon it would take about 14 million pounds for the owners to sell.

Chaddy, in a perfect world then yes, however, I suspect that Barclays may have a bigger say on the final fee and £8m might just do the trick. Clubs know, IMO, that we are financially in the mire and it's fill your boots time for them !!!!!!!

Hughesy - same questions were asked when Shearer first linked with us !?!?!

Difference is Uncle Jack was minted and prepared to spend bigger than ANYONE.

Fernandes is reported to be worth $450m, that is small fry compared to the big boys resources

Can QPR match his wages and ambition though?!

I suspect wages yes, ambition no. But it depends what the options are for Samba. If I were in his position I would see which teams have offers accepted and what they could offer. If it ended up a straight choice between Rovers under Kean and QPR under Hughes I would be off to Loftus Road. Thats leaving aside my support for Rovers of course and bearing in mind that Samba would probably love the opportunity to play for Hughes at a club that is at least demonstrating a bit of genuine ambition.

Not sure about his net worth and not about to research at this time of night, however, talk of new training ground, new stadium and transfer budget of £75m over 2&1/2 years doesn't come cheap !!!

yes, and an owner who is prepared to at least put some money where his mouth is and make tough decisions. Blackburn now is not how Blackburn was. If Samba came here originally because of Hughes and not because of any particular love of the club itself, then I doubt he would have an issue taking this jump, even if it does appear to be temporarily sideways. From a ladder thats falling apart onto a less ricketty one.

How much do they actually put in though? Never hear about them.

The Mittal family own 33% of QPR.

The don't want to put stupid money into the club, which is the reason Tony Fernandes was allowed to buy Bernie's and Flavio's stake in the club.

Surely Harry's attempts to sign Samba via the London press breaks some form of rule ?

Harry can and does court any player under the sun using the press.

"I think he's a great player and a great guy personally, and I'd love to have him at Spurs, but I can't comment on any player under contract with another club."

It will take over £15m I'm sure of that

A few years ago I think we might have got close to that, but he'll be 28 in a couple of months. Any team buying him on a 4 year contract will have to accept that they will be waving goodbye to the transfer fee, and that will bring his price down considerably (unless PSG do get involved, they probably won't care about that).

I'll be amazed if we get £10 million for him, £8 million sounds about right to me. Spurs won't £15 million for someone approaching 28 and I doubt Sparky would want to blow half his budget on one player, he'll fancy his chances of finding a cheaper player in the foreign markets.

Do you think Samba would be happy to still be a Rovers player on February 1st?

He's a massive player for us (in the right frame of mind) but how do you keep him motivated - particularly for a relegation scrap. If he's already on massive money, a pay-rise probably won't appease him this time.

What we need is to sign the types of players to match his ambition - which is about as likely as me and you lining up against Fulham this weekend.

Only way I can see him not leaving this month is either a pre-contract agreement (which rules out QPR who would want him for their own relegation push); or buy and loan back til the end of the season. Can't see either being agreed.

He's as good as gone. My money would be on QPR (because of Hughes) but hopefully we can get Spurs or PSG involved in an auction to push the price up.
