So he hasnt wanted out for the past 2 years?

And the new contract he signed had nothing to do with the MASSIVE wage rise he got from it? Dont be so naive. Yes Venkys are making a big mess of things, but he certainly isnt squeeky clean when it comes to wanting to move on!

Any player with any ambition should not be here whether it's now or 2 years ago.

He signed a new contract on broken promises, the owners have done nothing that they said they would.

And he deserved a pay raise for staying, his long term contract has ensured we a fair price.

I wish him well, no player should be a club player but a career player, all fans at every club are the same, they love the good players and don't care about the average ones.

Possibly has Hughesy maybe longer down even to the issue of when a certain MH departed us .

However, I feel there may be more to this from what I have heard on the grapevine (not itk) and in relation to the question I asked with regard to those who went down to the Brockhall protest (still not been responded to) and certain players who actually engaged with the fans.

Apparently Kean showed Samba a list of transfer targets for this summer and thats what convinced Samba to sign a new contract because he was so impressed. Im guessing it had the likes of vucevic and adebayor (do you remember the "big" names we were linked with and got NONE of them)

Samba is a GREAT player and deserves to be playing champions league football, I wish him the best and just hope we can get as much money possible for him. If spurs take him id like money plus a player deal.

Guest Rovers4Good

Ha ha good on him, why would he want to stick around with all the uncertainty?

Kean said that he hasn't seen the article and he hasn't spoken to Samba on the reports (sums the man up) and that he had 2 bids from the same club last week and that he turned them down.

Hope he gets a move and then sheds a light on the ongoings behind the scenes at Circus Ewood. :)

Info just coming through [on Twitter] now that a bid has been accepted from QPR?

I would be [mildly] suprised if he goes to QPR with the PSG action. Although maybe its the 3 club rule being employed by Samba to get OPR to put a bid in. Not seen anything on this myself yet. On twitter or elsewhere.

EDIT:

Not sure if this has already been posted - fees are too low I think.

Surely the club cant sell their captain to a relegation rival, surely :o

What sort of message would that send out to the fans.

The same message that's been sent out for the last few months - "we're here to take the money and run".

True - hard to judge with no midfield. Sell him and bring in 2 midfielders and it could have a positive impact on results, who knows.

I quite agree. We'd be better off spending the money on midfield and playing Givet and Dann with Hanley as back up.

I'd also get rid of N'Zonzi and reshape the whole thing.

Samba is a massive player for us but its not like we keep regular clean sheets is it.. Without full backs or a centre midfield it doesn't really matter who you play at centre back because they're going to get swamped. If we sold Samba for around £10m and brought in a solid centre mid and a proper right back then we'd probably stand a better chance of keeping the opposition out ironically.

I know this probably sounds a bit stupid but I actually want to see Samba move on to PSG. He has been great for the club no doubt about it, been a decent servant, he wanted to go before but decided to sign a contract and give it 1 last shot at helping rovers push to the ambitions he wanted, unfortunatley rovers have not got anywhere close to pushing in the dirction of ambition he wanted and I say let him leave, we have had alot of great years out of samba, its time to open the door to samba (but to a big ambitious club like PSG NOT QPR!) and say thank you and good luck. Time to give something back to samba in my opinion. You can argue that we are dead certs to go down if we sell him but deep down is there any rovers fan on here that deeply believes we are avoiding the drop, Im sorry but when your bottom at xmas with owners who have no idea or money and your mangers not equipped and doesnt have the background or history of gaining the amount of wins needed in the 2nd half of the season to keep us up then you have been watching to many fairy tail dvds.

Id do the same. Id consider selling him to Spurs and ask for Bassong & Kranjcar in exchange + some cash....lol

SkyBetSky Bet

Chris Samba is now 1/3 to sign for #QPR as we have seen a number of bets on the #BRFC defender in the last hour.

Just seen that myself.....must be big money if they do. Spurs & Paris can offer us better so unless they have offered MEGA money, I cant see it.

Big Chris deserves to play at a higher level than what we can and will be able to offer him; for me he will still be a Rovers legend, true warrior and full of passion !! will be sorely missed, but his heroics are not enough to stop the rot and harsh reality that we are playing championship football next season

Yeah..re-hash based on the L'Equipe interview, but with the Mirrors usual poetic licence thrown in - "slammed venkys"???

Anyway, Big Chris, good on you. You'd be a fool not to leave for a more ambitious and positive club right now. You are not a kid anymore. Now is your time. And a player of your quality and strength is too good for the Championship. I don't begrudge you for a second. Anyone of us would be suffering under the toxic management currently at Rovers.

Hats off to you my man, thanks for your service, and best of luck. I'll be following the rest of your career with interest wherever you end up.

Incidentally, not many people have mentioned Sambas other great strength which we will sorely miss. His stregth from set pieces in front of the opposition goal. He has always been a really good chance for us on the other end of a set piece, as well as being our best player on the pitch at the back.
