Doesn't surprise me if true. Samba picked up phantom "injuries" last January as well. He's got form for it - regardless of how I feel regarding his transfer wish, it's still pretty sad for a grown man to act like a child calling in sick to school because he doesn't want to be there.

He's on £80k+ a week for goodness sake.

Totally agree - I can sympathize with his disappointment with the owners (we all feel that way) - but I can't help but feel that he is using them as an excuse to get a transfer away from the club - which, as you say, he has done on numerous occasions.

It is possibly time to let him go - and see if he can cut it at the top. To be honest - whenever he has played - he has always given 100% - so he probably deserves his chance - just that his timing is awful.

If I was the owners I would tell his agent :-

1. Put in a transfer request if he wants to go (why should we pay loyality clauses in his contract ?)

2. Let them know exactly how much we are prepared to accept in way of transfer fee - so he can let all interested clubs that he has already probably been talking to know.

For me any fee would have to be £10m upwards - especially considering Cahill has gone for £7m with only six months on his contract.

Let's get this joker out of the club for half decent money and move forward.

I have no issue with Samba's reasons for requesting a transfer - but the way he goes about it stinks, and it always has. The man has no respect for the fans off the field, if he did he wouldn't make the types of comments he makes in the media, nor would he pick up fake injuries and sicknesses. Being unhappy and trying to get a move away from a sinking ship is one thing... pretending to be ill and not playing for the fans who fund his lavish lifestyle? Pathetic.

A few years ago I thought Samba was a proper leader of men and a great person to have in the team. As of mid-2010 when he started mentioning leaving my opinion changed and it's only gone downhill since. You can't deny his influence on the pitch, but today showed we can play well without him. He's been fit for most of this season and we've lost plenty of games with him playing. Not blaming him solely, but neither do I think his leaving will cripple us to the point where we'll never be able to win again.

I've got to agree with this. He has gone down in my estimations but he is still a big player when on the pitch. I do think today's result was a big boost for the rest of the boys, however, and showing we can cope without Samba and Yakubu is big for us. We can sell him but have to replace him with a backup central defender and a left and right back - re-invest or don't sell.

DE4life - spot on with his attitude and lack of respect.

Must admit with Hanley improving every week, Givet solid as ever and Dann on his way back, I would consider selling him.

We need to ask Tottenham what their best offer, including Krancjar on part ex.

I'd go with that, and Pienaar on loan too!

They all want Chris:

Have said for days that he'll go for between £8m & £10m - IMO, Barclays now making the big decisions.

cant be worse than venkys making them!!!

would loath to see samba leave but if the bidding reaches £10m+ cant see how we can refuse

Pathetic that both Arry and Hughes are talking about bids for Samba, lacks respect in my book, then again we have no class anymore as a club, so we deserve everything we get.

Don't blame Samba in anyway, he was promised progress by the owners and manager, but was clearly lied to like us :angry2:

Dont get overboard here, losing Samba gives us a plan B if we are to play the ball on the floor, Samba is an immense threat from set pieces, we are not going to come against many sides as innefectual as Fulham were yesterday, so you only consider selling him for the right money and the right replacements!!

Samba in strike threat to Blackburn as Congo star tries to force move

If Samba does go on strike then he MUST be sold. But I wouldn't sell him to QPR only to Spurs or PSG. we are in relegation battle so you don't sell to a rival for sure. No Point strenghting a rival who team could go down.

Probably some truth in the story but the mail have no quotes as usual, but it wouldn't surprise anyone that Kean was telling porkies to media, it certainly looked that way to us when we watched his interview.

Would anyone else get away with texting work saying "I'm ill, won't be in today" ;) I know I wouldn't......

I always txt my gaffa to say I won't be in if I'm not ill and fancy a day off and always phone him when I am ill to tell him I won't be in. So the moral of the story is he didn't have the balls to phone and speak to anyone because there's nowt wrong with him. The bloke as really gone down in my estimation and I bet he feels a right plonker now after that great result/performance without him

My link

Richard Gibson in the People says 'Spurs are interested in signing Samba, but both they and QPR could miss out to Manchester City who are ready to swoop'. Don't know how good this guy Gibson is, but at least City would have the brass to pay the proper price for Samba, and maybe a player in exchange. Or is this just wishful thinking?

Most of us understand his desire to go and most would not begrudge him the chance to play at a bigger team but wasn't it Mark Hughes who always insisted it was on the club's terms and that we had to have proper time and cash to fund a replacement. If he wants Samba he and anyone else who wants him should be prepared to pay an acceptable amount and Samba should be man enough to understand that. We probably can't hold out for his full value but 6.5 million is surely underselling yourself Chris. If you are that good then get your agent onto getting a decent price for us then get out. We'll miss you but then we miss a lot of players - most of them have conducted themselves with a little more class and the chief one who didn't - a certain Mr Bentley - seems to have disappeared off the football radar.
