Lost all respect for Mark Hughes me now saying Samba is on his shopping list PRICK. Shouldn't be talking about other teams players nob head

you are posting on a thread which is discussing transferring people from other clubs. Hughes can say he is interested but it is down to the club to accept the offer or not. Samba will go in this window if the right offer is made. Talking about it in public doesn't make it more likely to happen

My link

miss out to Manchester City who are ready to swoop'. Don't know how good this guy Gibson is, but at least City would have the brass to pay the proper price for Samba, and maybe a player in exchange. Or is this just wishful thinking?

Onouha as one of the part ex would be good

Did you not have a problem with the Savage saga then?

What goes around comes around. All clubs do it. We're generally better than most but still no angels.

IMO, Samba's going this week.

Both his heart and head have gone and no use to us.

Unfortunately, that's football, no loyalty,

I wouldn't be surprised if he stayed or went - the guy does this every year (regardless of manager) and gets on my tits for it.

I think he's worth about £8million in terms of ability but I reckon we could and should hold out for £12million because with him being a big lad who can dribble, he really flatters to deceive from the outside looking in.

Sullivan, Gold and Brady did FAR more talking than we did. I was sick of the word 'derisory' at the end of that mini saga.

I might be wrong (can't be bothered searching) but I actually can't remember that much that came out of our club.

Think you are right there, will either stay or go !!!

Seriously, I think it's different this time.

In terms of value - who would you take given choice, Lescott or Samba and we know what Lescott cost.

Unfortunately, it will be well known, especially after publication of accounts, that Rovers are, IMO, financially screwed and at £8 to £10m, I think you will find Barclays making the decision.

Lol, I think I'm on the money this time

I can't imagine City are after him and seriously pray to God Wayne Bridge doesn't form part of any deal. If he is to go somewhere though, lets hope it is heavily weighted by players in px or in on loan because we need experienced players for the run in. If the financial rumours are true, I reckon the Venkys would look for part-ex deals so they can save face by getting something back for him rather than simply paying off debts.

Personally, I'm aghast at anyone who doesn't think Samba is worth at least 12 million simply as a player, let alone the fact we need him in our relegation fight. If I were in charge, he wouldn't be leaving for less than 16 million.

And I mean regardless of moaning etc. Then in the summer I'd accept 12.

Official bis was made last week, why not, it's not like it's come out of the blue.

As others have said, everyday occurrence.

Hope he has a big garden. 'Strike' 70kpw to bring in a loan replacement.

It's so simple - you can't keep a player against his will. Will not be focused, performances diminish and it doesn't help morale.

IMO, he has to go now and it's about maxing out on price. Unfortunately, we are not in a strong position to negotiate, as we are, IMO, financially screwed, and clubs know it.

Harry Redknapp did and look at Luca this season. Been as good as always.

So Samba thinks he's good enough to play for one of the big boys but doesn't think he is worth £10 million. Hmmm that odd logic is it not?

And whilst I fully understand a player wanting to move when the likes of Spurs or Arsenal come calling, wouldn't you be worried (if you were Samba) that these teams who have paid far more than that in the past aren't willing to stump up the cash unless it's a cut-price deal.

Good point well made. But then Spurs have an excellent team with an outside chance of winning the league. Samba is choosing between a relegation dogfight or going to Spurs... bit of a different situation.

His value is 15m in my opinion in todays ridiculous market. 12m+ would maybe be acceptable. Nothing less than that.

Really pleased with how Hanley is coming on, mitigates the problem somewhat.

I agree, but there is NO need per now to accept his moaning and let him go to cheap. If they want him enough they'll pay. Lets play hardball as we did with PJ. If Spurs, Arsenal and PSG are interested they will pay what we require. For me it is atleast £10m.

Lets look at it from the other side. All of these clubs will know that Rovers are in a bit of financial bother having missed the barclays deadline. If they think that Venkys want to sell then they will wait it out. I would guess that Samba will leave, but it could be towards the end of January, once Venkys realise that they need the cash.

Same here.

That would be my valuation of him and I would demand that sort of fee / player value combination when any clubs come sniffing. Tell QPR £12m + Barton, Spurs £8m + Krancjar & Bassong, PSG a straight £16m cash

I was commenting on Samba's reported annoyance that we're asking for £10m rather than the clubs involved and what they will do.

IF he is angry at our asking price, it seems incongruent with someone who thinks they should be playing at the top level. How can you be a defender at a world class team and be worth less than £10m at the same time?

He should simply look at Cahill.....he's a better defender than him & probably a bigger goal threat and Cahill with 6 months on his contract has cost £8m. In Summer Bolton wanted £17m, so £10m is way too low a valuation for Samba.

The one club we mustn't sell Samba to is QPR no matter how much they offer. We are in a five team League with regard to relegation and allowing Samba to join QPR simply weakens us and strengthens a rival. Surely Desai isn't that stupid? Then again, look at the shambles she has created over the past twelve months.

Other than Hughes being in charge (and I think a player's desire to play for a former manager are overblown at times by the media) I can't see why he'd want to go there and swap one relegation scrap for another.
