Tugay-is-God Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Anyone know if he's been in training today?
Amo Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Same here. That would be my valuation of him and I would demand that sort of fee / player value combination when any clubs come sniffing. Tell QPR £12m + Barton, Spurs £8m + Krancjar & Bassong, PSG a straight £16m cash Don't forget to Save Game when you've finished.
LeChuck Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Don't forget to Save Game when you've finished.
Clitherover Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Heard he is joining Clement at PSG in France http://www.google.com/3732-samba_to_join_clement_at_psg.html Hope he does, he's clearly not staying at this club, at least we aren't strengthening any of our rivals this way.
Emge Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Harry Redknapp did and look at Luca this season. Been as good as always. But Spurs has matched Luca Modric ambitions as a footballer. They are pretty much in the title race, at least they have been recently. Spurs are having a fantastic season. We are not. The owners (Kean as well perhaps?) has made some promises to Samba about our ambitions and where we want to be, but we´ve been rubbish and when you are having Steve Kean, a coach, as your manager, its not excactly inspiring I would imagine. So I can understand him. But I am of course dissapointed as well...
Hughesy Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Don't forget to Save Game when you've finished. Ok will do....better than yourself - Sell your best player for £8m, resign, quit, hang yourself, world ended! Negative attitude brings nothing but depression mate!
bluebruce Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Of course you can keep a player who wants to leave. It's all about man management and the individual in question. We all saw that benni mccarthy faded horribly after not getting his move, but as someone else said, modric is doing fine. Far more pertinently, Samba has been seeking an exit for what is it- 3 or 4 windows? I lose count. During this time he has signed two new contracts and continued to be an absolute rock for us. Simply going off history it is apparent that he is not enough of a prick to fade because he didn't move, and loves his football enough to keep focussed. The manager should be saying to chris that there's no way he will sell him this window, but in the summer he will entertain fair offers. He needs to keep up his best form until then to ensure the big boys are still knocking.
alexanders Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 But Spurs has matched Luca Modric ambitions as a footballer. They are pretty much in the title race, at least they have been recently. Spurs are having a fantastic season. I can understand this if we are talking about PSG (only team I hope we sill him to) and not QPR. If he goes to QPR I will be FUMING. We cant sell our captain to one of our main relegation rivals and Samba shouldn't go there because they are no bigger than us.
BringOnNextSeason Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Anyone know if he's been in training today? SSN just showed samba back at brockhall, said hes been back at training today
ChrisyG Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Twitter - Chris Samba hands in transfer request at Blackburn - more details on #SSN
rover460 Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Twitter - Chris Samba hands in transfer request at Blackburn - more details on #SSN Has S.K. played a blinder for once, now Samba has handed in a request he loses the % of his transfer rovers would have had to pay. 10% of £10m into Venky's or transfers
braddock Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Let's move him on quickly and get a good wad of cash for him elsewhere on the field since we have got quite a few central defenders at the moment (as usual it seems) and his price will only go down as each season progresses. Will be nice not to have to have these little tantrums every window. If he has handed one in then it shows the club are refusing to simply bow down, which is nice to see. It means we could well get a good price for him. Of course, I'd rather keep him as a happy man, but that doesn't look as though it will happen. He will be missed, but it sure gives us extra options elsewhere on the field (one would hope).
davulsukur Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 BIG decision coming up from Kean and the owners. Selling him we lose one of our best players, despite winning without him at the weekend. The money could be used to reinvest in other areas such as RB and CM but it's a big risk.
Roversi Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Let him go, tbh it baffles me how we have kept him for this long. 10m and i'd accept, only to spurs though, cant give our best player to QPR. who to replace him with?
Muddboy Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 I'm bored of Samba now. Yep, he's an excellent player but his heart's not in it anymore and his sicknote behaviour before the weekend was pathetic. If anyone bids £12m he can go. But if nobody hits that mark, he stays. I would suggest his handing in of a transfer request is because PSG are sniffing around and it's a real opportunity to return home. Can't blame him. Got a young family and probably wants to bring his kids up as Frenchies rather than Mancs.
Parsonblue Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 My big fear is that we sell him and the money is then split between the bank and Pune. I suspect that Kean will still be looking for loans no matter how much we get for Samba. It's also the message it sends to the other players if they see one of the king-pins of the side allowed to leave at this point. Surely the owners could suggest that Samba sees out the season at Ewood and then they put him up for sale in the summer. The trick is surely to keep him motivated for the remainder of the season and then allow him to move on in the summer. I accept that it is difficult to keep a player when he wants to leave and usually I would be happy to let an unhappy player leave. However, in our present situation I feel that Samba is vital for retaining any hope of Premier League survival. Although we won on Saturday, the fact remains that Samba is not only important defensively, but he is also the focal point of the majority of our set pieces.
RibbleValleyRover Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 During the last few transfer windows he’s been quite vocal about looking for a new challenge, so it was inevitable we would come to this point. There must be some solid interest (clubs been talking to him) if he has done this, problem is how can we persuade him to stay when there are no positives to look forward to because of a manager like Kean and owners like Venky’s?
PAFELL Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Can anybody really blame him for wanting out. After all some fans are boycotting matches. Not much difference really. Though if owners want to keep him, maybe they will address his concerns. I won't hold my breath though.
Hughesy Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 PSG show us the money. Sell him on our terms only, and only if 100% is re-invested in the team.
sam_rovers Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Wasn't this expected? I was surprised he stayed after we bought Dann in the summer.
Lathund Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 If we get an acceptable bid (I hope the PSG interest is real, that's our best chance of that happening), sell. I don't want to lose him, but while you can keep unhappy players, that's something I'd rather avoid. We also get rid of a £60k+ salary, something a club our size (regardless of ownership status) should not pay anyone. I suspect that Kean will still be looking for loans no matter how much we get for Samba. I don't really want to defend Kean's transfer record, but in our predicament loans do make sense, even more so those with an agreed fee in the summer. For a very simple reason; if we go down we won't be on the hook for another 2-4 years worth of wages and be forced to sell for a loss. We need to focus on the here and now, survival this season is paramount and everything else is contingent on that.
