Can totally understand him wanting to move on. Not just due to the current fiasco but he's been here five years and deserves his big move. However, going on strike is unacceptable, especially for the supposed 'captain'. His wages should be docked, although the PFA might have something to say about that.

Thing is even if we get 12mill for him do we really believe we will see any of it reinvested into the squad?

It is an interesting one for both our owners and the bank. Barclays aren't daft - they know if we don't invest a good % of the Samba money we are almost certainly relegated (especially as we will be down to only three fit centre backs - when Dann returns). The owners, well the jury is out whether they understand the situation we are in, or whether they care - but it would be a demonstration of their faith in Kean to give him a large transfer budget.

Personally I am hugely disappointed in Samba - but not surprised. The owners ineptitude has given him the excuse he needed - but it is just an excuse. Given our current position - he should have come to an agreement with the owners to see out the season, and then get his transfer in the summer (hopefully with Rovers safe).

He will obviously be a huge loss when playing against taller teams - and we will miss him offensively as well - but if the money was invested in a new right back, a replacement centre half and a half decent centre midfield player we would be better as a team overall. All depends on how much of the fee ends up clearing our debt.

Hopelessly naive.

Samba's obviously been tapped up - either by PSG or Spurs - and wants to get away. The opportunity might not be there in the summer.

That was the one which stuck out in my mind, there have been enough other examples to say that he his hardly infallible. Im not saying that we should sell him because of these occasional errors, but I cant see how we can expect to keep a player that seems that keen on going.

Last season Vrs Sunderland at home. Had one of his lapses, lost possession culminating in a professional foul. His silly sending off nearly cost us the game. I seem to recall he cocked up at Newcstle in the league this season, which led to a goal. He's a good player for us but I think he'll be exposed a lot more at a higher level. The way he has acted in the last few days reminds me of a spoilt brat. T0sser!

Sad if/when he goes, had some good memories over the years watching him play - IMO, played a key role in keeping us up in Sam's first season and thought he was useful playing as a striker in a couple of matches (the Spurs home match when they couldn't handle him).

The football authorities need to do more to stop "tapping up", which it looks like Samba has been. Players want the security of a contract but act like spoilt brats when they want to move, eg Samba's antics in giving interviews to overseas papers and informing club of illness(??) via text message. Good player but, like many others, thinks he is better than he actually is. Agents are the scourge of professional sport - the FA, PL, FIFA etc need to create much stricter guidelines over how they operate.

Leave orf. I love it how fans decide a player ain't much good when he decides to leave

Let's be honest about this, Samba is a towering presence in defence and our other centre backs are nowhere near as good.

His departure is another nail in our relegation coffin.

Now the dust has settled a bit , Samba leaving is more an indictment on the way the club is being run (or not run )..Selling him more or less condemns BRFC to relegation ...

Venkys and Kean should follow him out of the door ...

Nobody has his stature - I will grant you - and we will miss him. Though I think he is one of the best centre halves we have had in the last few years - I think the fact that the really top clubs have yet to come calling shows that there must be flaws in his game - definitely good enough for us, but how good ? If he moves to PSG or Tottingham we might finally find out.

Final nail in relegation coffin - only if the rumours that the money goes straight to the bank are true. Even with Samba we have been leaking goals (mainly due to tactics) - but a proper right back and defensive midfield player would go a long way to making a more balanced side.

I'd argue his biggest strength is as a towering presence in attack.

Although good with his feet coming out of the box.

Definitely one of, if not our best player. Will be sad to see him go. Even sadder will be to see him play against us - depending where/when he goes, we at least might get to play against him.

I would sell him now!!! Make a statement saying his transfer request will be grant but it will cost anybody 15 Million Pounds to buy him.

Also strip him of being Team Captain of Rovers and make Robinson Captain. He is very passionate about Rovers and is a Massive Fan Favourite at BRFC!!!

We need to also realise that Samba Former Club is due 15% of any transfer fee. So if we sold for 15 million pounds then they are due 2.25 million pounds. So that leaves us 12.75 Million pounds to spend, so I would expect Kean to be allow to spend that money to allow us to bring him 3 or 4 quality players permanent.

Chaddy, assuming your numbers are correct, I would be absolutely staggered if Rovers spent more than £1million. IMO, Barclays have their hands firmly around the scrot..

Samba has shown his true colours by handing in his request to leave, like others I say grant him his wish BUT only when the transfer fee is agreed.

Poor ending by our Captain.

It is a shame, yes, but I'll bet he's been told he's going nowhere unless he hands in a transfer request. At which point he duly obliges.

Honestly can't blame him for wanting out. I expect he feels lied to concerning the club's ambition. Let's face it we were all fed clap about how ambitious we were back in the Summer and even before.

Most of us didn't believe it though but then again none of us were offered 60000 a week over 5 years to believe it.

Cant blame samba for his reasons in wanting to leave. But the way he has gone about it since his "stomach cramps" stinks! He needs to stay until the summer and keep us up then he can go but not for less than the 12 mill he's worth to rovers. Hes on 60k plus a week, can't be that hard can it?

True enough but he (and his 'people') are at this every bloody window.

He's a really good centre back, one of the best in the league imo, but it's time for him to go. He's a pain in the arse.

It's the comments about how he thinks he has given is everything over the past years when we all know he has been trying to leave for the past two or three years! Takes the p!ss if you ask me! For his wage he should get on with it and stop pulling these pathetic sickies like a child! It's disrespectful to the fans that pay his wages!

True colours, I would do the same if I was him, who should he be playing for the fans, all fans are the same everywhere, I wouldn't care about the fans, be a career player not a club player.

Blackburn have been a nothing club for a good three years and he wants better, so would I, and its time he forced it.
