I like the stubbornness we are showing. I respect that Samba want out, but as captain he should be prepared to fight for our survival. If the only bidder is QPR we should rather let him sit in the stand than sell him to a relegation rival.

Whilst i'm always glad to see clubs try to limit the increase in "player power" i'm also loathe to admit that generally in these situations your never going to get the best from the player again so the only option really is to hold out for as much cash as possible.

Completely agree there Alex, I reckon we'd get as much in the summer as we will now as he still has a considerable amount of time left on his contract. Selling him to QPR will be suicidal.

Considering he's been trying to get out for a number of seasons, his performances on the field haven't lacked commitment. Perhaps he, like Modric is an exception to the general rule.

And if Samba refuses to play? - I'm not condoning his behaviour just merely playing devils advocate.

I would hope so too Braddock but how likely is this to be the case in light of him potentially throwing a sicky before the Fulham game? - Personally i think he's had enough and will stomp and moan until he gets his move. His focus on the pitch can falter at the best of times so i hate to see how it could affect them now.

I'm not sure he would refuse to play, won't attract many suitors in the summer if he comes across as a spoilt brat. Look at Tevez, if he wasn't a class player no one would be touching him with a ten foot barge-pole and even then the transfer fee's being bandied about are no where near what City value him at.

I think the club is right to make a stand on this issue as Spurs did with Modric. We cannot sell him to QPR as that would be helping our relegation rivals so its best to tell Samba that he has to stay and fight for his place. Remind him of his rsponsibilities as captain and that he has signed with us till 2015.

When the end of the window comes round he will resume life as a Rover hopefully......

My only concern is who are the ones at the club who will make the stand? Is it Kean, Venky`s, Mrs Desai or the Rao brothers? All very confusing which is the all too familiar situation this season.

I think Venkys are more guilty of breach of hype.(amongst other things)

Wasn't there a condition in the sale agreement, where they pledged they would continue to run the club in a professional manner or something to that nature?

Not that it matters, i'm sure there are various legalities and loopholes which can be exploited to show that they've adhered to these pledges.

As for Samba, i can understand his desire to leave but he dirtied his bib with the way he's gone about it and the fans will not be forgiving next time he turns out for Rovers

Very good point re Tevez, once a players is tagged as a problem player it can limit the interest but then again there's always somebody willing to take the risk. Just look at Barton, Bellamy, Anelka etc...

Yep, I'd take all three of em at Rovers. :)

If we keep playing like we did against Fulham Samba will become less important to us - let's remember, it wasn't Samba who rose to beat De Gea to win the United match, it was Hanley.

Kean seemed to panic last month and revert back to previous tactics, which didn't work. A return to a more ground-based style of play has yielded some decent results in the past few matches. If we stick with that Samba's importance in the opponent's box will be diminished (still a nice threat to have, but he's only scored two goals this season).

Losing him in defence will be a blow as on the pitch he is a leader and from crosses and corners he's a big presence and repels the ball seemingly with ease. Alternatively his ground-based defending often leaves a lot to be desired - he gets praised for last ditch tackles but if you're having to make a last ditch tackle it's usually because something's already gone wrong beforehand.

I'm guessing he won't start against Everton - this probably, again, won't matter as Everton have one of the bluntest attacking forces in the league. We'll have to wait until Newcastle perhaps to see just how much we'll miss Samba.

I don't watch Everton much (who would) but whenever I have, their goals have come from simple crosses headed in. So "yes" we will miss Samba if he doesn't play.

Tim Cahill will score, he always scores against Rovers! :angry2:

Good, thats got to be a weeks wages he owes now.

Stick that in the post to Barclays so, every little helps....

Good, thats got to be a weeks wages he owes now. I can understand he wants to leave but this is low. Think he's about to lose all respect from the fans. How legends fall.....

If he is ill then you can grant him time off but the timing has to be said is impeccable. :)

The last couple of games I've forced myself to watch involving them had nothing but scrappy goals. Givet & Hanley should be able to handle Cahill & Fellaini.
