beanie Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 My exact feelings towards QPR over the cheek of it. Except i'd have just called them tossers. I think if Rovers bid £5 million for someone like Defoe (no specific reason why I chose him) we'd get slated but QPR's bids were taken seriously. There was also some degree of acceptance from the media that we would take that. Well let see if sambas worth 4 and add ons they must be willing to pay 250k for onahua and maybe 2 mill tops for alex really is insulting that these are seen as serious bids for one of the most consistant cb's outwith the top four.rodger johnson 7 mill from relegated birmingham scott dann 6 million from relegated birmingham. chris samba 4 mill w add ons a year after signing a five year deal do me a favour anyone saying hes in the right not training making a fuss for a move with these insulting bids from a club smaller than ours is sadly not a rovers fan.

hesfromburn Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 If he wants to act like a child until the transfer window ends then let him. If there's one thing we've learned about Venky's it's protests just make them dig their heels in even more. If Samba thinks he's going to get anywhere by refusing to train or play he should probably reassess his plan. This
Ricky Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 Surely we're at the stage of being able to fine him now. If he's not come into training so he can't be played then he should be fined a weeks wages, what's the point in paying someone who refuses to play.
DavidMailsTightPerm Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 Ach! Very good point! This is the first time he's put in a transfer request in though. I'm sure many are anti Kean. Salgado, Roberts, Samba and Keef all training with the ressies and out of the squad? In a relegation battle? The kids have done well but you know as well as I that old heads will be needed come crunch time. It's all about margins, maximise every strength you've got, all pull in the same direction, in it together. Alienate a few, upset the camp. Not good. I am not sure the players are anti-kean. Roberts is a good example of a player who has previously been far more vocal when unhappy. As you say there are a number of players who would have just cause to call Kean - but it is surprisingly quiet.
Steve Kean's Barber Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 After hearing about the medical investigations Samba had this week, he must REALLY want to leave the club.
Burrells Boy Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 No club is going to pay big bucks for any Rovers players, because of the well documented problems with the bank and lack of Venkys funding.
bluebruce Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 Medical investigations? And think I'm in the fine him camp. Would have to know the man personally though to know how shrewd that is. Also, what was his excuse this time?
LeChuck Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 Did he have an excuse today? He was training with Salgado, Roberts and Andrews. I think we're fine with Givet, Dann, Hanley and Nelsen. If the latter isn't fit then we may need cover.
bluebruce Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 He was training yesterday you mean? You think he was simply dropped then? And Nelsen is expected to miss all of the season isnt he? Even if he werent, pretty sure we are far from fine if we lose Samba, even if we get someone else in.
Steve Kean's Barber Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 Medical investigations? Kean wasn't lying when he said Samba was going to the hospital for tests..he had a colonoscopy and an endoscopy which obviously found nothing. Anyway there's nothing wrong with his stomach but it's felt he's not in the right frame of mind apparently, which is why he didn't play yesterday.
LeChuck Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 He was training yesterday you mean? You think he was simply dropped then? I think so, but I'm just going by Roberts' tweets.
waggy Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 pity samba wants too jump ship but he is not to be blamed, venkys are at fault,if he goes to qpr they have just shown there true colours of asset stripping our great club.
PAFELL Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 If money is so bad at rovers. Why is Samba still at rovers.?
Speedie Dived Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Two reasons, we have more chance of staying up with Samba and secondly he is an insurance policy for the bank if/when things go south
PAFELL Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Two reasons, we have more chance of staying up with Samba and secondly he is an insurance policy for the bank if/when things go south Yes but bearing in mind if he is not sold with in the next week. He can only be sold after the season has finished. By that time the money situation at rovers would be a lot worse and therefore samba money would only be a pitence in comparison to debts. Plus possible relegation etc etc. I think if things are so bad now money wise, Then samba must be sold asap. Money would have to go to the bank.

But if he is sold now Venkys choose where the money goes, not the bank. The value would decrease but not drastically. Plus helping us stay up would mean another £50 million.
Oklahoma Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 For me, Rovers should only sell Samba for £15 million, nothing less. Realisticly, there are a few teams that need a centre back like Man Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham or QPR. And, in this transfer window, it is hard to buy a quality CB so some of those teams might be willing to pay that kind of money. Samba is probably not good enough for the big teams but they are desperate and maybe one of them is willing to pay for him.

Noise being made by unhappy fans? Just because the owners are not playing ball with Barclays UK doesnt mean they are in trouble.... As for Samba - Sell him for £15m+ if ANYONE wants him, IF not, stick him in the reserves until he gets his head down and starts to work for the team & fans.
Parsonblue Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 More false rumours about money? Noise being made by unhappy fans? Just because the owners are not playing ball with Barclays UK doesnt mean they are in trouble.... Looking at the performance of their shares since May of last year they are not doing particularly well. I notice the shares have fallen again today, possibly on the back of the bad publicity the received over the weekend in India. There is nothing to suggest that they have the money, or the inclination to invest in strengthening the squad. Certainly the manager would appear to be as much in the dark with regard to transfers as the rest of us. His hopes of signing players early in the window who could hit the ground running has turned out to be another Venky pipedream.

The Shares have gone down on the back of bad publicity no doubt. However didnt those weekend newspaper reports say they make £100m profit each year?!
TimmyJimmy Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 The Shares have gone down on the back of bad publicity no doubt. ... or worries about the re-emergence of bird flu in Asia ?

I think it's self evident that they dont. ... or worries about the re-emergence of bird flu in Asia ? Maybe the cost of chicken feed has gone up. That's not a joke btw, their business is highly sensitive to it.

They could make £200m profit each year but if Desai has decided not to invest any of their money into the club it hardly matters.
