Mattyblue Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Then you don't know Arry. I'm watiting for the customary Spurs car park scene of: 'yeah, Daniel rang me ap, said do I fancy Samba? I said yeah, lets do a deal'. (Swap Spurs training ground for steps of Southwark Crown Court).

LeChuck Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2094280/Chris-Samba-subject-final-bid-Tottenham.html? Sorry 'Arry - The way I see it is that you've had 31 days to make your move. If you wanted him bad enough then you would have made a firm bid earlier. Agreed. The only way that could be acceptable now is if it they threw a couple of players in the deal, we don't have time to find replacements. At this stage I'd happily take Bassong and Corluka in exchange. Both are finished at the club but would strengthen our defence...I know it won't happen though.
deryck guyler's spoon Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Redknapp is the sneaky, unscrupulous manager of a sneaky, unscrupulous club so expect a dirty 11th hour bid from the baggy joweled get.
LeChuck Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Hmm... Saha going to Spurs, rumours of Defoe to Liverpool... Surely not a way of making money for a signing elsewhere...?
Ferrit Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 bbcsport_david David Ornstein Blackburn tell me "absolutely no enquiries" for Samba today. They expect late interest from #qpr & #thfc but won't sell #bbcfootball #brfc No surprises there then, guess you'll have to wait another 6 months for another shot at jumping ship Chris. (and so the cycle continues)

If Kean is making decisions then he would be mad to sell Samba now, unless as you mentioned, we got a couple of players the other way (Bassong and Krancjar ideally? This will not happen because we can't pay their wages anyway. On the other hand, if Venkys were offered £12m for Samba, they may well sell him with no thought for the squad at all. Barclays are on their shoulders!!!
RoyRover Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2094280/Chris-Samba-subject-final-bid-Tottenham.html? Sorry 'Arry - The way I see it is that you've had 31 days to make your move. If you wanted him bad enough then you would have made a firm bid earlier. Harry does that every transfer window. Declares that he isn't interested in anyone, only at the last minute to pinch a team from low down in the league's best player, not giving that team a chance to replace him and never playing him anyway.

The fact that article ends with 'hoilett who is rated at 9mil by rovers' Gives it no respect whatsoever
roverandout Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 samba is going to be off in the summer anyway, come what may, should have sold him in january window as he will be a disruptive influence and i doubt he will give his all now anyway and thats if he even plays!!!
joey_big_nose Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 I would let him rot in the reserves. Between now and the end of the season he will cost us about a million quid in wages. Pretty depressing.
bradJG Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 What are the odds samba divorces his agent in the next week or so..
Kelbo Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Between now and the end of the season he will cost us about a million quid in wages. Pretty depressing. 1.5 Million to be exact!!
joey_big_nose Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 1.5 Million to be exact!! Venky's won't like that. I wonder if they will go after him with fines? Could be interesting.... I guess we might be able to force him to play, and then he will have to perform well to get his move in the summer. Will be a bit of a bizarre situation. Anyone got any good precedents?
deryck guyler's spoon Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Between now and the end of the season he will cost us about a million quid in wages. Pretty depressing. I'll be absolutely delighted if Samba doesn't bully his way into a move. Even better if he spends the rest of the season training alone.
LeChuck Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Redknapp also says he could not let Steven Pienaar goes back to Everton because he has too many injuries and has revealed that Wolves want to sign Sebastien Bassong but he will need to complete a deal for an unnamed defender before he lets that one go through. Unnamed defender? Probably not Samba but you never know.
RoverMad86 Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Maybe Ryan Nelsen, according to Henry Winter, to Spurs. So we can keep Samba.
McClarky Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Surely can"t be right about Nelsen and Spurs can it? They have signed Saha already so unless they are investing in new injury recovery technology and need guinea pigs it surely wouldn't"t work.
RoyRover Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Between now and the end of the season he will cost us about a million quid in wages. Pretty depressing. If we sold him now, we were only going to get £6-7 million for him. In the summer we are more likely to get the £12 million that he's worth. If he becomes disruptive he's the one that will look bad from it. He's our player. We pay his wages. Just because he demands a move doesn't mean that he should get one. If this happens, it needs to be made known that he is acting like a spoilt brat and embarrass him.
joey_big_nose Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 I'll be absolutely delighted if Samba doesn't bully his way into a move. Even better if he spends the rest of the season training alone. You think a broke club paying 1.5 million in wages to a player who won't play is a good idea? Akso my personal feeling is if he spends the next four months in the reserves we will be lucky to get the 6.5m QPR offered come summer. This can only turn out well for us if Samba decides to try and perform for the club in the hope of getting a big summer move. If he digs his heels in it's a totally nightmarish situation.
LeChuck Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 You think a broke club paying 1.5 million in wages to a player who won't play is a good idea? What makes you think he won't play? I'm in no doubt he'll get picked again pretty soon, a bit when Modric wanted to go to Chelsea in the summer. Redknapp kept him out of the team for a couple of games whilst he got his head together, then put him back in.

I think there is a good chance he will freeze himself out as he will be hacked off with the whole situation. Could go either way imo.

I know what you are saying but there has to be a question mark about what would happen to the proceeds of a Samba transfer, it certainly has to be doubtful that it would bolster any transfer fund. As for his wages, we still have to pay them and, as he has gone on record as saying that he will no longer give 100%, I reckon that he is better off away from the first team. Prior to this window the guy has been a nuisance, during this window he has been an absolute disgrace and shown a complete lack of respect for the club and it's supporters. Given that I find it hilarious that Ryan Nelsen is the Rovers defender that Spurs have signed, Samba will be absolutely ripping!
LeChuck Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Hmmmmm.... well I was replying to Mr Spoon's post saying let him rot... Ah yeah, sorry. I'm mistaking posts all over the place now, maybe that's a sign I need to go to bed. To try and cancel out my rubbish last post, here's some factual stuff about Kean saying Samba should return (maybe even against Newcastle tomorrow): http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2094449/Steve-Kean-urges-Chris-Samba-knuckle-down.html
braddock Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 He'll be back playing at some point. He always is. I don't think he can play without commitment and I don't think he will want to be out of football for 6 months at his age.
McClarky Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 We need to get him back in the side ASAP. You have to think that his professionalism and his desire to sign for a big club in the summer will spur him on to give his all. If he doesn"t play I can"t see us getting more than about £5 million for him in summer, and with the wages we are paying him until summer that is bad news for the finances.
