Quick question for people based on the high fee.... and being realistic about targets if we are limited to £26m.

Jermaine Jones for £10m (reported 60k wages – age 29) – ½ season in Prem and history of Injuries

Joey Barton for £3-4m (reported 50k wages and willing to drop for a 4 yr contract – age 28) – tons of prem experience, a home grown player and not bad with injuries but BAD boy/ scum reputation by some.

Which would you choose? Personally id go with the latter

Oh that's easy. I wouldn't sign either if those were the only options. Wouldn't even consider it. I'd leave the position to be filled by N'zonzi, or look for any old cheapo dobber to fill the numbers. Or start using Lowe in emergencies, even though I don't rate him. Under no circumstances that are remotely realistically conceivable would I spend £10 million on Jones nor sign Joey Barton for anything. I wouldn't sign Joey Barton if I were bribed with a harem.

  • 4 weeks later...

Played 90 minutes in Schalkes 3-0 loss against Stuttgart.

Did nothing at all apart from stupid challenges.

Got "flop of the match" on goal.com report of this game... For what it's worth.

We really missed this guy today..

One of the better midfielders we have had in recent times.. Although that's not saying a huge amount!!

Double-blow with Nzonzi moving into defence. We had no steel in midfield.

Still hoping we can fix a move for JJ.

Perhaps but with his replacement without his Visa and the other Defensive midfielder in defence, what can you do.

Hopefully Petrovic will step up to the mark, Iv had lots of discussions about him with people who follow alot of European football and they rave about the deal for Petrovic. Apparently Juve & Seville were both interested in him too.

Is Hiccups catching

Could have been hiccups, my mum said hiccups was when you told lies, bloody hell, Keans got a triple infection

Hi, I'm a Schalke supporter from Germany. He wasn't injured and the reason he was not in the squad was because of his international cap against Mexico (he arrived late on Friday). I think that he will be back in the squad on Thursday, when Schalke has to play his EL-qualifier against Helsinki.

Guten Tag.

What stories are going around in Germany about Raul and Jermaine, and where they may move to, if anywhere?

Who asked you?! Go and rain on someone else's parade.

Only joking...! What is the feeling from Schalke fans towards Jones - especially after he was allowed to go out on loan last season? Welcomed back with open arms?

:D

feelings about JJ are controversial between the schalke supporters. some say he will have a huge impact, if he plays and the other say, that we don't really need him, so he could leave and decrease our pay roll.

I personally think the latter, but nobody will be angry about him, if he stays. If you are really interested in him, then I think you will have to pay something like €4-5m for him. He is very good fighter with a "never give up"-attitude, but lacks in terms of his playmaking abillities (fast play, passing,...). It seems that his style of play don't really fit into our system, so it will be hard for him to get a spot in the starting XI.

About Raúl it seems a little complicated. He hasn't talk to the media for a while now, so that the yellow press writing a lot (rubbish) about him without any real clues. He is a great sportsman with a superb attitude on and off the pitch. Insta-Legend within only one season.

As I said, nobody really has a clue about him and his motives not to talk to the media. It would be great if he stays at Schalke.

We could do with both of them to be fair.

Absolute;y - we are going to play with two deep lying players for most of this season I think and having only two - Petrovic and Nzonzi - both relatively inexperienced is unacceptable. Lowe could maybe be back up but we really need a Jones like player to help guide them through.

We really really need to get Grella off the books.
