slough_rover Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 For a reported 75K a week im not too bothered. You can pay World Class players that much. Most ppl on this MB hadnt even heard of the guy never mind making him the highest earner in the history of our club.

Hughesy Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 For a reported 75K a week im not too bothered. You can pay World Class players that much. World Class?? Who, Where??? Or are you talking about retired World Class players?
slough_rover Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 World Class?? Who, Where??? Or are you talking about retired World Class players? Spurs have a reported 70K per week wage cap. So that would include Modric,Bale and Van der Vaart. All 3 are arguably World class.
slough_rover Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 And btw Chicarito who was signed last season ws on 20K per week and now that has been bumped upto 60K per week. So for 75K per week I would expect alot more than Pappe Cisse.
davulsukur Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 A players salary doesn't define them as world class slough_rover. Papiss Cisse is not world class, certainly not at this stage in his career. He's has 1 decent season.

Yes all now worth more in terms of wage - should any move then they will be on £100k +. They would also all cost double that of Cisse
slough_rover Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 Yes all now worth more in terms of wage - should any move then they will be on £100k +. They would also all cost double that of Cisse Wasnt Van der Vaart only 8 mill?
Hughesy Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 Wasnt Van der Vaart only 8 mill? Yes about 12 months ago....he would easy fetch £20m now after the impact he has had in this league.....even back then £8m was a snip, nobody knows how they managed it! Had he been touted around at £15m back then, a club would have bought him. Same with Chicarito....yes he might have come in on small wages, but United didnt expect him to have that big of an impact either - he would now fetch mega money & huge wages as big clubs watch him!
Backroom DE. Posted July 15, 2011 Backroom Posted July 15, 2011 Have to admit I'm still bewildered as to how Spurs got VDV for £8M .... everyone at the time was saying it was an absolute bargain, and so it's turned out to be.
Kelbo Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 Spurs have a reported 70K per week wage cap. So that would include Modric,Bale and Van der Vaart. All 3 are arguably World class. Yet Van der Vaart, surprisingly, is substituted in most of the Spurs games on around 70 minutes!!
slough_rover Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 Yet Van der Vaart, surprisingly, is substituted in most of the Spurs games on around 70 minutes!! Thats because he has a bit of the David Dunns about him!
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted July 15, 2011 Moderation Lead Posted July 15, 2011 VDV is a cracking player, but his fitness levels are quite poor, and he did fade quite badly towards the back end of last season. BTW- Modric is allegedly on £40k p/w at Spurs....
neophox Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2029168/Papiss-Demba-Cisse-wants-leave-Freiburg.html Get this guy signed up, pay Freiburg the money, He's a goalscorer!
roversfan99 Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 Nicko doesn't think so, he thinks the deal has gone unless the fee halves and Cisse lowers his own wage demands.
chris Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 apparently we were only willing to go as high as 6 million, but thats just what I heard.
youandwhosearmy Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 gutted we wont be signing him as I think he would be a monster... lets just spend 6 million on a player who is injured and has doubts about his overall fitness, just because he is cheaper. They dont see the bigger picture that Cisse will have a great sell on value

pick32 Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 Cisse is a class act and is worth about 8mill but in the current market you probably will have to pay 13million. He is a big risk, has no prem experience and has only just found his shooting boots.
True Blue & White Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Newcastle have agreed a fee http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/jan/17/newcastle-freiburg-papiss-demba-cisse
Backroom DE. Posted January 17, 2012 Backroom Posted January 17, 2012 Cisse and Ba should be an excellent partnership, assuming Ba stays. Assumedly they're using the money left over from the Carroll deal (did they spend any of it?)
Kamy100 Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 He'll do well for Newcastle. They getting a good side together, Cabaye, Tiote, Ba and Cisse. Ashley used the Carroll money very wisely.
chaddyrovers Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 He would be a Great Signing for Newcastle. It's a really shame that Rovers wouldn't pay the money for a quality striker
HemelRover Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 He would be a Great Signing for Newcastle. It's a really shame that Rovers wouldn't CANT pay the money for a quality striker Edited for you.
bob fleming Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Edited for you. Indeed. Things look that bad that I doubt Venkys would even fork out for a pot to catch the second part of his first name.
