Player notes from this afternoon Bearing in mind this afternoons games were pre-season friendlies against lower league opposition.

Ribeiro, - steady game no mistakes, didn’t do anything special although he did hit the side netting to Accy goal late in the game, with a blistering shot. Not a bad game seeing he doesnt know his team mates yet.

Hanley - steady and dominant in the centre of defence

Kalinic – he’s a fox in the box, just needs the right service.

Samba – Looked stiff even before kick off and didn’t come out second half.

Anderson – He played blended into the game cant say I noticed him second half

Formica – Class, wanted the ball and looked dangerous.

Dunn – Lasted 90min sprayed one or two good passes and linked with Formica a couple of times.

Blackman – played wide put in some good crosses, did ok.

Gunning – looked solid enough, but we were playing a second div team.

Roberts – If he is our main striker we are in problems.

Good to see that Formica performed well even if it's against lowly opposition, will be interesting to see how he fares in the Asia Trophy against better teams.

Maybe it's just a good pre-season that he's needed all along.

What are those sports bra looking things the players wear in training? Do they monitor heart rate etc? I noticed the players were wearing them under their shirts.

I think they also have gps in them so they can track how far people have run etc.

By the way how did we not have a penalty? I don't think the linesman took kindly to me offering him some specs! Blackman was still shouting at him after the goal.

As an aside I thought Henley looked good

henley did look good.

was very impressed with robbie cotton when he came on against acc.

looked like he wanted to run the game.

linganzi also looked more up for it than nzonzi did in his game.

formica looks a player.. similar to kaka in looks and running.. hope he's half as good.

as for the brazilian. didnt impress. didnt try to make an impression. i was left asking.. why the hell did we bring this guy over?

and dont get me started on myles anderson. :angry2:

imperative we buy better players overall. the team against morc really lacked pace.

if we start the season with this squad, its gonna be a long winter.

Mate who text earlier and slammed the Brazilian full back is singing Formicas praises, says he looks a class act.

Ewood Spark?

my thoughts exactly.. knows his stuff yer mate!

Finished 2-1 poor game

Best player on the pitch for me was Linganzi followed by kalinic and Andrews

Worst by a country mile was James knowles.

Ribeiro looked ok nothing special but not awful

woah. bit hard on young knowles TCO. he's only had a couple of reserve games. tired in 2nd half. thought he looked bright in the 1st.

Sounds like you may have a grudge against Ribeiro for not being your guy

Not a case of being harsh just in my view he was very poor

Tom, it was a dive, he jumped after the ball was out. Embarassing really.

do me a favour tco.. id hold a grudge cos he wasnt who i was told he was ??

that would make me extremely petty.

the guy is 28.. come all the way over from brazil and didnt do anything to impose himself.

he was poor.

I was just kidding but he didn't do anything wrong I don't see what more a right back can be expected to do without being too gung ho.

Angry is how I would describe the majority of them. Robbo ripped olsson a new one in the first match, Roberts and Blackman kicked off with the linesman and morecambe fans in second, and Emerton got in a little scuffle with a Morecambe player too.

I don't blame any of the players for those incidents:

- lazy pass by olsson which nearly cost a goal and no keeper wants to concede

- Blackman was eager to impress and denied a penalty by a poor call

- Emertons season could have been over in the first friendly because of a stupid needless tackle by a fellow pro

The spirit seemed ok they were all quick to congratulate Mauro and Olsson came and sat a few seats from me for a bit of the second game and was in good spirit

I don't want to start referee bashing already, but he did let a lot of pushes, pokes, kicks, tackles and handballs from Morecambe in particular go.

Maybe he was just trying to even things up a bit? (just joking Mum :D )

I thought Mauro got battered all day and the ref didn't give him one. Funnily enough though the non-penalty seemed to unite all the Rovers fans for the first time and pump it up a bit.

Nice to see you and Mr Roversmum (I was sat directly behind you in the blue training jacket if you had no idea who I was  )
