Even though it was only Stanley, he still knows where to put the ball.

rog of the rovers Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 Positives (for me) over the two games Andrews played well first game. Cotton looked tidy when he came on. Both kits looked good. Formica dealt well with the physicality of Morecambe and took his goal really well. Dunny was a touch wasteful at times, but was the metronome that kept things ticking in the second game. Great turnout by Rovers fans, seated area sold out! Hanley look threatening from set pieces. Biggest negative of the day - the queues for food were ridiculously long!
arbitro Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 Tom, it was a dive, he jumped after the ball was out. Embarassing really. In footballing parlance it was a stick on penalty. If you think that was a dive you should get to specsavers. Overall the object was achieved, namely to get the players 'game legs' on and improve fitness. I can't get worked up about x played well or y didn't. Any players on trial will NOT be judged on one game - they will be assessed during training and other games.
broadsword Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 Anyone see this? @brfc_uk Kevin Mills Thought it was quite amusing Jason Roberts wanting a fight outside with a morecambe fan after being acused of diving.
Ozz Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 No but Dunny heard a 'wag' in the Rovers end question his refueling ethics and mouthed some abuse at him. Dunn looked very peed off.

I have to say that Dunny's arse size looked to have increased significantly, so much so that I heard someone shout out 'look, Dunny has got two arses' Remember when Neil Ruddock had to have his shorts specially made, well Dunny must be getting close to contacting Umbro.

I love this post! Can't wait for the season to start so we can focus on the players on the pitch rather than all of the speculation that winds everyone up. Scrap the transfer window I say. It's only good for agents and the media. Thanks again! COYB!
broadsword Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 I have to say that Dunny's arse size looked to have increased significantly, so much so that I heard someone shout out 'look, Dunny has got two arses'
roversmum Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 Well Dunny didn't do badly considering, it's just the way he's built... Yes TCO, nice to see you! Must have a proper chat next time! I managed to get soaking wet before the match, it was throwing it down in Bamber Bridge when I was daft enough to walk to the shop for a paper without a coat! Great afternoon in all. Nice to see old and new friends, and a good workout for the lads.
grizfoot Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 Good day out, glad the rain stayed away for the large part. First game I thought we didn't play that well and there wasn't too much to take away from the game. The new right-back (Riberio?) played okay I thought looked very steady if a little sluggish (only pre-season mind). Andrews had a decent game, although cynics would argue he was playing against opposition at his level. He did take his goal well and it appears shooting is one is better attributes. I've always been impressed with Lingzanzi, he's no nonsense wins the ball back and passes it on just what you need for a defensive midfield don't know how his technique would stand up in the Premier League but the few games I've seen him play he's always done okay. Pedersen was woeful, jumping out of tackles all over the place and even is crossing skill seemed to have been lost. Upfront Kalinic played okay in parts and sscored a classic Kalinic goal, give him credit where it's due he always seems to be in the right place to capitalise on defensive errors. But I'm still yet to be fully convinced by him he drifts out of the game too much for my liking. As for the youth team lads who played various parts in the game, Cotton looked by far the best showed a few neat touches and passes whereas the others looked to have a lot of pace but lacking in technical ability, but can't really judge over such a short period I suppose. Second game team was much better, especially second half we where more of less camped in Morecambe's half. Slightly worrying maybe but the two players taking the lead in the game was our 35 year-old right-back and David Dunn (who actually appeared to look quite fit and managed to finish the ninety minutes). Probably the major positive of the game was Formica's goal he showed a great turn of pace and finished well. He was getting knocked about a bit early on (ref didn't help much) and the game seemed to be by-passing him. But second half especially after the goal he looked far more confident and was getting into the game looking more creativity and linking up with Dunn. Promising signs hopefully he can build on this during the rest of pre-season and be in contention for the first team. The clear sign for the day was that we desperately need a number of new players, especially upfront.
A cup of beans Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 What were the main attributes the Brazilian right back showed? Is he fast, slow, good defensively or preferred going forward? not quick. went forward once and shot from an impossible angle. he was hardly 1st to everything defensively either. compare his game to when we had agathe on trial.. he impressed far more and he was nowhere near good enough either.
cn174 Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 It was right in line with where I was sat. The ball was going out then Blackman was hacked down, same as what happened when United played us and won the league. It was a pen, took him down.
Ozz Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 youre having a laugh, ozz. are ya ? From what I saw of him I though he was fairly sterile, yes. Although I did miss his goal as I did the Morecambe one too, so possibly not a completely fair revue! Anyone notice the girl selling ale under the away terrace with the two black eyes? Welcome to Morecambe. I took some photos , but my PC says the Memory card needs formatting so I cannot access them right now. See if I can do it at work tomorrow.
Stuart Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 It was a pen, took him down. Great photo Clare. Not very conclusive without the ball in shot but I'll take you word for it!
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted July 17, 2011 Moderation Lead Posted July 17, 2011 Good day out all in all. Happy with Formica in the second game. Good turn out from BRFC fans it has to be said, the stand I was in (standing one behind the goal), largely full! Good spot Ozzie- I did notice her 2 black eyes, that wasn't a great sight....
Teacup Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 Was Rochina involved in anything? I really liked the look of him in the few games he appeared in last season.
roversfan99 Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 No teacup, not 100% fit after his shoulder injury, but not far away.
hollowsr Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 How did Myles Anderson play? I thought first half he played very well, 2nd half he disappeared a bit but then we were camped in their half for most of it! Left footed as well, not the dribbling mess that some would have you believe in my view. Can he make it at the very top, time will tell I guess. Need to assess more when up against good players
A cup of beans Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Anyone notice the girl selling ale under the away terrace with the two black eyes? Welcome to Morecambe. i did.. terrible!
3rdpillar Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Enjoyed the day, even if the hangover did start to kick in. Good to stand on terraces again, first time since Blyth for me. Best bit was nipping over to the holiday park for a beer between matches.....Excellent.
arbitro Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 How did Myles Anderson play? My first impression wasn't too good. reminded me of Goulon in the way he ran, slightly awkward and cumbersome.
Backroom Tom Posted July 19, 2011 Backroom Posted July 19, 2011 Anderson did fine, also whipped it a belting cross from the left in the first few minutes.
A cup of beans Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Anderson did fine, also whipped it a belting cross from the left in the first few minutes. 1st few minutes is the key phrase there. what did you make of his passing tom ? for those who werent there.. reminded me of callum davison chipping the ball to damian duff!
