I'm hearing Spurs have asked for 7m

where do spuds get their prices from?

if we can get him for a low fee then fine. better then RSC i guess but both are worth about 3 million and no more.

Go and sign Cisse and Randon instead with Roberts and Kalinic as back up.

I disagree with people saying Keane's legs have gone. I just think he's lost a bit of confidence and with enough time on the pitch alongside the right strike partner I think he can be very useful for us. £2-3m is a reasonable price in my opinion.

I agree think his link up play would be good but £7m no way. I agree £3m is about right.

We saw fans calling for Roque to come back when he was clearly past because he had one decent season here. Pedersen peaked 3-4 years ago and some still want to keep him at the club and now we see fans wanting to bring a past it Keane on big wages to the club.

Some Rovers fans need to get out of this mindset that because a player was very good once it means they can reach those heights again.

I hope we don't spend over the odds on Keane. Doesn't fit in with the new business model.

Perhaps Keane is one we should be leaving until the end of the window....get the real business done first and let spurs sweat a little in the meantime.

Odds on a £7m Keane being our main striker next season?! <_<

I also don't get the legs gone comments with regards to any player around 30 who is off form, it's nonsense players are playing longer these days, not all players need pace, I think Keane is one of them.

Keane's game was all about using that great sudden burst of acceleration to get into decent positions to score, from what I saw last season he's completely lost that.

There are plenty of 30 year olds who have kept their pace, Keane aint one of them.

I was expecting to hear they were wanting closer to £10m. £7m isnt too bad a starting point - would be ok with him coming here providing it's alongside Cisse or similiar and the price is £4m-£5m.

Robbie keane is only 30yrs old and brings with him a wealth of experience, as an alternative to RSC Id be more than happy to take him, as an alternative to Jason Roberts the whole town will be more than willing to take him.

He scores goals, simple as that, must be the right price though.

Max £2.5m and I wouldnt mind him as 3rd/ 4th choice striker - Cant see the £7m being correct

He will score more goals than Benjani/ Roberts or anyone of that ilk. However ONLY will I be happy with him if we sign someone of Cisse's quality + a young up and coming talent.

It's not his form, it's his pace that has gone. He has lost that burst. The loss of pace has led to the loss of form

That pace and sharpness is only maintained by playing every week, he has not been, does not mean his legs have gone IMO, I have always thought his link up play is very good also.

Keane was never that quick. He had quick turns and a small burst of pace, but I don't think he relies too much on it. He's soon 31, that's not old in modern football.

No agree that he never relied on blistering pace and you are correct that he had that burst in and around the box. But i think that's the thing he is struggling to adapt to losing. IMO he just looked a different player in the latter stages of his 1st Spurs stint and then amazingly Liverpool bought him and he has struggled to regain form.

Since 2008 he has only really done it at Celtic.

Spurs are robbing barstewards.

Want players for next to nothing (eg Parker @ WHAM) and top dollar for their own. £7m for a guy who's hardly played last season and is out of form yet their jibbing about £7m for Parker who's same age and just been voted Player of Year. A total joke.

In any event, Kean wouldn't even be on my 'B' list - agree with the general comments that his pace and edge has gone which has shot his confidence.

We really can do better.

Agree with BPF, beginning to sound a bit like last pre season.

People clearly have some differing opinions on Robbie Keane and a proposed move to Ewood Park.

For what its worth Keane, IMO, would be an ideal striker to have at Ewood. He is an instinctive finisher, he has never needed to be blessed with pace he just knows where the back of the net is. Compared to Benjani or Roberts, he is a massive improvement and if Rovers were looking to sign him I would be happy to see him in a Rovers shirt. One things for sure where Keane is concerned, Rovers would not miss many 1 on 1's like we do with Roberts in the team.

I would love Rovers to have made inroads to buying their targets, Cisse is a player I know little about but based on what I have read he appears to be a potential future star.

There are those that dispel the likes of Hitzelsperge and Reo Coker as players that would not enhance our team, all I would say on that is that those people clearly dont realise that compared to our current crop of midfielders those two alone are stand out stars and would clearly benefit a Rovers first 11.

A midfield of Reo Coker, Hitzlesperger, J Jones and Olsson added to the likes of Hoilett and MGP is a quality central set up, We even have Formica to add to that potential formula not to mention Piatta and others.

Rovers are clearly intent on playing football and not hoof ball. Thats a good thing. I remain reserved as to how Rovers may or may not perform in the transfer stakes and for the time being I am not renewing my ST. I am waiting with baited breath becasue a lot is happening off the scenes which I think is benefitting the club. Its on the pitch that slightly worries me and until the first signings are made I feel no further need to comment with exception that BPF, Kamy and Nicko should continue their good work.

btw

If anyone on here thinks they will beat me to giving Keith Andrews a free lift to Nottingham, should they sign him, you are mistaken

I don't think Keane would be a terrible signing, and may be the perfect foil for someone with a lot of pace I.e Cisse. In fairness to Keane again, it's very hard to make an impact on a sinking ship, and whams style of play hardly suited him.

We're obviously looking for someone to link the play, and Keane may be the man, but as many have said I'd only pay approx 3-4million for him as he is only likely to continue play for 3 more years at a push!

Wonder what his wages are 50K? 3 million fee, at least 5 million in wages (2 years @ 50K) so 8M all in.

I hope spurs stand their ground and we move on.

He would be a direct replacment for the striker we sold windows ago.

50k is less than we would have paid for Jones, Santa, etc.

Sensible trade.

Sorry if this has been mentioned at all but heard on TalkSport that Harry Redknapp is offering Bolton Robbie Keane and three other players (Jenas, Bassong and Hutton) in exchange for Gary Cahill.

Sounds a bit far fetched to me...
