Amo Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 Isn't Tony Warner a Scouser? This must be who Nicko was on about.

rebelmswar Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 I doubt he will have a contract that states "player" on it anywhere.
Amo Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 I remember Man. Utd signing a 37 year-old Andy Goram once to cover the sticks. Really isn't a big deal. Let's see who else we sign before ranting and raving, once again.
Ferrit Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 But why though? We release Jason Brown, and let Fielding go on the cheap, to bring in a 37 year old keeper as cover? Bonkers. Edit: Just read that it'll likely be as coach. .. well that makes more sense.
Mattyblue Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 we signed a 52 year old Tony Gale as cover once, then look what happened! PMA!
Drover Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 To be be honest his wage will probably be less than Brown and Fielding combined, he's never going to play and we have no idea what his coaching abilities are like, they could be great, so this is probably a good move. I don't really buy the whole 'he wasn't a brilliant keeper therefore he won't be a good gk coach' thing some others have said as theres a lot of managers in the game today who are successful yet were pretty average players. PS Yes I'm new
67splitscreen Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 we signed a 52 year old Tony Gale as cover once, then look what happened! PMA! Would Palace buy Warner off us then. PMA.
JAL Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 What you guys need to know is that Andy Goram and Tony Gale had far far more ability than Tony Warner ever had. This is a totally unacceptable move thought it was a bad joke at first . Can we have a name and shame the people who have brought this guy Warner to the club because they're obviously incapable of taking Blackburn Rovers forward .
artemorethanlabore Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 It's strange times when an academy gk-coach can cause this level of emotion

Which part of he's come in a coaching role are you struggling with? Do you really think we've signed him as cover for Robbo?
mike at picture Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Jal. Which part of he's come in a coaching role are you struggling with? Do you really think we've signed him as cover for Robbo? Of course he does. Whatever he had that passed for a brain dribbled out of his ear long ago.
JAL Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 Of course he does. Whatever he had that passed for a brain dribbled out of his ear long ago. Tony Warner is never of premiership standard. Hes not even a good championship goalkeeper, so for him to be employed at Rovers is a sure sign of lowering standards at our football club. Suppose it all depends on where you want Rovers to be.
Roverite28 Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 3rd Choice cover who will never play and coming to rovers in a coaching capacity. Are you really to thick to understand that? Its not rocket science.
JAL Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 3rd Choice cover who will never play and coming to rovers in a coaching capacity. Are you really to thick to understand that? Its not rocket science. He should'nt be anywhere near third choice goalie at Rovers. Big questions must be asked at who's limited judgement brought him here in the first place.
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted June 30, 2011 Moderation Lead Posted June 30, 2011 He should'nt be anywhere near third choice goalie at Rovers. Big questions must be asked at who's limited judgement brought him here in the first place. HE HAS A COACHING ROLE JAL!!!!!!
JAL Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 HE HAS A COACHING ROLE JAL!!!!!! Why do posters keep saying hes third choice ?
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted June 30, 2011 Moderation Lead Posted June 30, 2011 Moreover, why you keep ignoring people saying the above? And even if he was signed as 3rd choice, will he even play? When was the last time you remember a 3rd choice keeper playing for the first team because of 2 'keepers being simultaneously injured?
Amo Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 Why do posters keep saying hes third choice ? I heard he's going to be first choice, after we sell Robbo to Spurs for £2.50 and a signed photo of Ramon Vega.

When was the last time you remember a 3rd choice keeper playing for the first team because of 2 'keepers being simultaneously injured? When Filan got a broken arm after he played a stormer for the beginning of the season (97?) when Flowers was injured. Bloody Collins, if I could have left the seat I would of been over him like white on rice.
chintits Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 hilario for chelsea was 3rd choice, if i remember right cech and cudinci got injured in the same game!
MeanGreenMachine Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 He should'nt be anywhere near third choice goalie at Rovers. Big questions must be asked at who's limited judgement brought him here in the first place. Please give me a list of 3rd choice keepers are in the league, i bet there are a few world beaters in there.
broadsword Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 Has there been any confirmation from the club that we've actually signed him, let alone whether it's a player registration or a coaching role? To let Fielding go and sign Warner, that's weakening the squad, and it doesn't make any sense to me. And no team goes into the season with just two 'keepers.
MeanGreenMachine Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 Your right, we have Jake Kean who is a better goalkeeper than Fielding currently 3rd in line. But no doubt he will be loaned out to get more experience, so we need a keeper who is never going to play a game. Am i missing something? Is it that difficult to understand? Its like saying we are replacing Potts with Efan Ekoku. Neither were going to play, its just one is coming in a coaching capacity as well as cover if half our squad falls to bits halfway through october which is highly highly unlikely.
Stuart Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 There's a reason why there are 288 posters on here at half 9 on a Thursday night. That reason is why news that a 37 year old keeper will be our most likely signing at the moment is being taken so badly. In a more sedate world, this third choice player/coach (if that's what he is) would slip in unnoticed and uncommentated. Goodness knows what Robbo or Bobby Mimms make of this news though.
