Nicko probably has great friends in Benfica, probably Rui Costa or the president...

Because, here in Portugal, no one knows of this supposed transfer!!!

Latest transfer rumour is Danilo, from Santos, to Benfica for €10 million.

And, like I wrote before, I doubt Benfica wants to buy Witsel because they already have 3 defensive midfielders and their priority is a left back and a right midfielder.

The news in belgium was probably just because they know Benfica sold Coentrao for €30 million, not because Benfica made any offer.

And clamming that Rovers lost 4 players... Please, PJ and JJ were important but MB Diouf and RSC hardly had any impact in Rovers season...

And there is also this: "after being priced out of a move for Schalke's United States star Jermaine Jones who starred on loan last season."

What a negative way to put it... £10 million for a 30 year old player that is not a first team player for them is just too much. Thank god Kean didn't make a bid for him...

this story was released to the Belgium press by witsels club just to try and forces rovers hand to make them up there offer, transfers don't happen over night , unless your man city, both clubs are just trying to get the best price possible, but as nicko wrote this article he must be right

Why did the owners only bid 4 million pounds for him? If we bidded 7 million we would have got him and he was the right player to replace JJ.

I don't get why the owners are being so tight with the money. We must have 20 million pounds to spend after the Jones sale. If Kean want him then we should have gone and got him. Kean knows who he wants to sign.

Come On the Owners spend some money!!!

At the time nobody else was in for Witsel so why go in high with a first bid, that would be equally as silly.

I hate how journos write things as facts when they aren't, in this case Rovers have missed out on Witsel, we will most likely but as of yet we haven't as he hasn't gone anywhere yet. So many times I see articles saying x club will sign x player and then it changes.

By the way what happened to Gyan being available I haven't seen anything about that since, thought there would have been some interested if it was true.

All being said I will be disappointed when we miss out on Witsel, if we were serious we would now match Benficas 'bid' (if there is one) and see if he fancies the challenge.

these message boards have been much more relaxed and efficaiant now nixons gone i think.

just read his latest article, he seems to have some kind of little vendatta against rovers now(joined the rest of the football press), must have a chip on his shoulder cos hes seemingly been frozen out by his sources(tell tales!) at ewood.

rovers do seem to be moving at a snails pace in the transfer market but im possitive things will all come together by the start of the season(i hope ),

the one thing i don't get, how come nicko is the only journalist who has picked up on all this and no other paper has bothered publishing so much negativity against Blackburn and there troubles there having signing players, i think ever since the article about the 45 million war chest( as nicko put it) he has had some kind of grudge against rovers and just wanting to print negativity against us

i agree, and the way there constantly belittle and refer too the venkys on match of the day and in the pres as "the chicken people" is just not right and very disrespectful.
