HemelRover Posted July 9, 2011 Author Posted July 9, 2011 spot on I dont buy that. The advisors will probably know what terms he will want in his contract. But how much the club would want for him? Nothing to do with them surely?

Exiled in Toronto Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 Odd isn't it! I'm not supporting Nicko, just saying, that the view that Rovers transfer policy is in tatters, isn't hard to believe. Not hard to believe at all, eveything else seems to be. I am surprised though that Nicko has got off scot-free for the fact that his 40-50 million article, seemingly listing every player on the A list, was the event that tipped what seemed a very well run transfer policy into a shambles as it was TOO accurate and switched our owners into mole-hunting rather than player hunting. We have imploded and he has seemingly lost his well-placed source. Excellent.
Grez Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 So nicko creates a frenzy saying we have £40-50 million to spend, then spends the next 2 weeks saying we are going to sign x,y & z top players. Then, we take our time to sign someone, but don't go for players identified by nicko Then nicko says the wheels are falling off. Cue hysteria from the doomsayers. In reality we've only made 1 bid for the Monaco defender and that it should be accepted. This came from the LET, who despite their declining standards of journalism, have still got pretty strong links with the club. I therefore believe more from them than a red top journo. Is it me, or is nicko pulling all your chains? 2 phrases come to mind: - Build them up to knock them down - never let the truth get in the way of a good Story.

I've been trying to say the same for weeks, but you've said it brilliantly there.

You do realise that Kamy has also mentioned the players Nicko has highlighted in his lists? Nicko was our best source of information- Kamy a close second, BPF and then others. Its a real shame that he is not on here.

The more you hear the same tale, the more it sounds like the truth. It still doesn't stop the original source being wrong!

Weren't you one of the people that accused philipl for getting information from a 'bad' source with an agenda against the owners not too long ago?
imy9 Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 Weren't you one of the people that accused philipl for getting information from a 'bad' source with an agenda against the owners not too long ago? Umm no I don't think so, I have however given plenty of stick to Phillip for his 'information' which tends to be wrong- plenty of examples.

Nicko was our best source of information- Kamy a close second, BPF and then others. Its a real shame that he is not on here. Kamy tends to be spot on but the others not so much at the moment. BPF's info is only so so even though he has been spot on in the past, according to him Roque was 'imminent' a few weeks back amongst other things remember. I don't for one minute think these posters make anything up as such I just think there has been some duff info coming out of the club on purpose. It's all a bit too easy to say such a thing is going to happen and when it doesn't just say 'well it was but things have changed' which is why I don't like people stating things as fact. I would love to see a list of incoming players that people have said would happen.

Athlete Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 U are surely not still buying the rubbish venkys are coming out with.......we are big trouble down the circus big top
leerovers1980 Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 U are surely not still buying the rubbish venkys are coming out with.......we are big trouble down the circus big top another one zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, make yourself a banner and get down ewood saying venkys out

I like to know who we are interested in signing, as we and Nicko also knows, the chances of these enquiries resulting in an actual signature ate pretty low. You will almost never see a Nicko article stating ' X will sign for Blackburn Rovers'
barry_ Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 U are surely not still buying the rubbish venkys are coming out with.......we are big trouble down the circus big top Apart from doing a Captain Mannering 'DON'T PANIC DON'T PANIC!!!... does it make any difference if you believe (or if you don't) what's being said. The facts are we owned by Venkys and have Steve Kean as our manager. Christ... on second thoughts it's definitely a Private James Frazier moment...
Martin Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 I honestly don't know what the fuss is all about. Jones left for United. Nobody would deny him that chance. Maybe we've got loads of money, maybe we haven't. Maybe the Venky's will sell, maybe they won't. Maybe Kean is buying the players, maybe he isn't. Reality is, nobody on here has close enough ties with the club to state with any certainty what is happening. We need to enjoy the ride. We've wasted no money to date and Samba is still around. Plenty of time to worry, but now is not that time.
Brownie Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 What I would wonder is, do we have the staff to register any signings, oversee the medicals, negotiate with players/ agents, find players accommodation etc etc.
modes98 Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 What I would wonder is, do we have the staff to register any signings, oversee the medicals, negotiate with players/ agents, find players accommodation etc etc. Yes, No, No and probably yes. But then again we need not worry about that as we haven't yet decided who to go for anyway. We might be ready for Christmas
booth Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 Amauri, anyone? It seems we made a bid for Amauri... 31 years old, not exactly prolific. Sounds perfect!
Teacup Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 At £88,000 a week would doubt that. Surely he wouldn't be expecting that much on a new contract? Will Juve even offer him another contract? If they did I doubt it would be at 88k a week. I don't see how he has much choice, he will have to lower his wage demands otherwise nobody will want him. This is the second most realistic signing I have seen mentioned, after Keane.
neophox Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 Just saw the pictures from the training camp on the official site and I saw Rochina, Hoilett, Samba, Roberts, Olsson among others listening to Kean for instructions...then there was a big dark guy to the right from Roberts, was it Mongongu?? Or Goulon, but isn't Goulon looking for other clubs? he was in Samba size....
neophox Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 yes, it should be Linganzi, I hope he makes it in the league next year as he's got potential!
Steve Moss Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 I think we should go for Jack Collison of West Ham, he is stalling with his contract, good young midfielder. His price wouldn't be so high. Seconded. I think he is talented, homegrown, young and relatively inexpensive. Perfect for us.
