Just saw the pictures from the training camp on the official site and I saw Rochina, Hoilett, Samba, Roberts, Olsson among others listening to Kean for instructions...then there was a big dark guy to the right from Roberts, was it Mongongu?? Or Goulon, but isn't Goulon looking for other clubs? he was in Samba size....

Are they on Rovers.co.uk?

Apart from doing a Captain Mannering 'DON'T PANIC DON'T PANIC!!!... does it make any difference if you believe (or if you don't) what's being said.

The facts are we owned by Venkys and have Steve Kean as our manager.

Christ... on second thoughts it's definitely a Private James Frazier moment...

It is Mainwaring and anyway it was Lance Corporal Jones who said "Don't panic!"

The facts are what concerns me.

It was Frazer as well by the way.

another one zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, make yourself a banner and get down ewood saying venkys out

Or just don't get down to Ewood. If there's no-one on when the first home game is played they will soon be off.

Do you really think Sam would agree to sell players to Rovers ? Forget it.

I think Sam is a pragmatist. If the price is reasonable, he'll sell. His immediate objective is promotion, not sticking it to Rovers or Newcastle. From his perspective, that will [with luck] happen the following year after winning promotion.

Who is Captain Mainwaring, Corporal Jones and/or Private James Frazier?

Witzel going to Benfica, deal to be finalised on monday, another player missed out on,BRAVO VENKY'S doing a top job in the transfer market.

That's disappointing. I was really hoping we'd get Witzel. He was the type of player we needed, if J. Jones wasn't doable. Better even, as he was younger and could, with a bit of luck, be expected to give a few more years of service and/or have his value increase.

once again another question

who are we looking to sign :blush:

Probably Mongungu when Kean gets back from the training camp in Austria.

The Witsel deal fell through, and nothing has been heard on the Onuoha front.

I must admit things are not looking up for us right now. Well, there is still 53 days or so, but unless the Venkys and Kean have a hidden secret list of first-choice targets somewhere in their highly guarded headquarters, it might not be a good thing to see these targets slipping away.

The deal to be finalized on Monday, did that come from a Portuguese source, or from somewhere else? It makes no difference either way, just that if Benifica supposedly signs Witsel, it should be all over the news in Portugal, and some say nothing's been spoken about on that front.

we will end up with RSC i reckon.

anybody watching Brazil and Paraguay tonight in the copa America and see how RSC plays?

what about Nelson Valdes? decent player

If we buy RSC, then that will be the last straw for Venkys/Kean, so far as I am concerned. He adds nothing and is too expensive. Rather buy a pair of U19 internationals. At least there would be hope that they would produce.

Nelson Valdes would be a very good choice. Ollson at LB and Valdes at LW. We would be incredibly dangerous along the left.

It would also allow us to play Givet in the center, which minimizes P. Jones defection to the enemy camp.

If we could only pin down Hoilett, then get a strong tackling central midfielder, and a top drawer striker, then we could expect a decent season. All it takes is three good transfers, and pinning down one existing player. Next year we focus on a RB and add another quality striker.

I may be wrong, but it seems simple to me. All it takes is cash for transfers, room on the wage bill and management who are able to walk and chew bubblegum at the same time.

Oh, I see. Thanks for that.

About Roque Santa Cruz, if I remember correctly, Alan Nixon mentioned the other day that we are definitely not getting him.

Apparently two other clubs have made bids for Roque Santa Cruz, and he's more likely to head for either of them than for Rovers. Alan Nixn in particular expressed his surprise at the ridiculous fee both clubs were willing to pay.

In fairness i just read it on twitter but it's been updating rapidly in the last few hours, futbol.portugal claim Witsel will earn 1 million a year and a fee of 7.5 million euro will see the player transferred to lisbon.7.5 million euro how the crap can we not afford that for one of europes best midfield prospects and a kentaro client is mind blowing, venky's sort yourselves out, apologies for spelling Witsels's name wrong in earlier post.

if we end up signing ######, then Venkys, Kean and Kentaro can (Please don't use that word again) off. its ridiculous, that after the struggle of last season, that we don't seem to have learnt our lesson.

Here in Portugal, the newspaper "represent" the 3 big teams lol

So, in the online edition of newspaper A BOLA, there is this news

Basicly, it says that Witsel could be on his way to Benfica and just some details are in the way. Decisive meeting will be next monday.

Benfica's manager thinks he can be used as a right midfielder or centre midfielder.

Tranfer fee of 8 million € or 7 million € (rumour passed in the Standard Liege stadium).

You've changed your tune....you were lambasting Nicko for reporting this yesterday and you said Benfica were definitely not interested because they had 2 similar players already!

all remember the formica transfer, everyone thought we had lost out when he was close to signing for Monaco, and then in a last minute attempt we got are man as venkys gave the go ahead for the transfer it could still happen, maybe that's there way of doing things so they know what price they have to pay

We didn't do that for Piatti, though. So it could go both ways.

don't think the position piatti plays in was a priority as we have a few players who can play his position , but the defensive midfielder is important with jj not coming back
