Oklahoma Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 According to newspaper O JOGO, Standard Liége want more money for Witsel so a deal has not been reached yet. It will take probably around €10 million and it's possible the deal will include a percentage of a future transfer and/or some kind of performance bonus.

Kelbo Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 It does sound unlikely that Venkys will be able to grow their own agents, but if true, I applaud them for being the first owners to take a stand on agents' fees. It would be good for football if it happened, unfortunately, Mike Newell took a stance on this when manager at Luton, short spell at Grimsby apart, hasn't worked since!!!
leerovers1980 Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 is Bendnter in talks with rovers??? Sky sports news are reporting that Bendnter is talking to an unnamed club? is this us? i think bednter will be at an italian club next season, my moneys on ac milan
DavidMailsTightPerm Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 So [according to nicko] we want £12m for Kalinic but will only pay £4m for Wietsel. If True, Venkys..... ..are you Daniel, are you Daniel, are you Daniel Levy is disguise? And that would be bad how ? Spuds always seem to get the best deals for the players they buy or sell.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Keep Kalinic, don't give Benjani another contract, and get 1 striker in. I'll go along with that. Also I'm another who doesn't want Gibson.
The Rover of Finland Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Keep Kalinic and release Benjani, it would be a shame to lose Niko and to keep such an average player like Benjani. Also a good sign that we could be using Venky's people rather than the likes of Kentaro etc. We need to move forward quickly. Well said. Getting new number one striker in is the main thing. Rochina, Roberts and Kalinic battle against each other for minutes. Benjani could be fifth striker but if his wages are problem don´t sign him. At the moment we couldn´t play two upfront because our midfield can´t win opponents midfields. Wingers are ok and Nzonzi. If we won´t buy decent centremid we need to play 5 man midfield. Yes, it´s Sam´s game. Nzonzi-Dunn not good enough Nzonzi-Gamst not good enough Nzonzi-Grella ha Nzonzi-Andrews ha ha Nzonzi-Emerton best of current alternatives but Emo isn´t centremid
neophox Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Better paying players than agents! I think agents demand too much. at least our owners seem too care about their team and business.
Backroom Tom Posted July 10, 2011 Backroom Posted July 10, 2011 Keep Kalinic and release Benjani, it would be a shame to lose Niko and to keep such an average player like Benjani. Also a good sign that we could be using Venky's people rather than the likes of Kentaro etc. We need to move forward quickly. I personally think it would be a shame to let benjani go on a free and keep an average player (yet) in kalinic. Last season overall in terms of contribution to the team benjani was the better of the two. It's academic though, nobody will pay that money for Niko so we have to hope he gets his act together, sorts his attitude out, stays on his feet (get wilkins in as coach) and actually lives up to the potential he possesses.
Al Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 If we get an offer of £4mil for Kalinic we should have their hand off at the elbow. What anybody sees in him defeats me. He has never looked like a Premier League player to me and in my opinion never will. £6mil down the drain.
roverandout Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 totally agree, poor man's santa cruz, (and thats saying something). Need a proper striker in, will cost money, if the owners arent prepared to dig deep, dont expect next season to be a whole lot of fun.
Amo Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 £12m for Kalinic? Worth a try. I dare say he'd be worth it in that league. But I'd prefer to see players coming in, before we let someone else go.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 How about Roberts up front for us this season, great striker, scored over 100 goals and says he has nothing to prove. Lets not spend any money as our squad is top 10 material easy. See you all soon after my lobotomy!
RoverPedro Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 I think things with kalinic could have been very different if certain goals had Counted when disallowed wrongly. The brilliant turn and finish against spurs and the goal against united. If these had counted it could set him on a goal scoring run with the boost in confidence. Also the sending off at west brom again stopped him in his tracks when his confidence would again have been high. Its been a series of unfortunate incidents which have hampered his rovers career and i think if he goes elsewhere with a strike partner he will bang them in for fun
T.J.Newton Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 im sure they'd accept 4-6mill for kalinic, if the reported 12mill asking price is true its clearly just there to deter time wasters. i think if he gets a few starts in preseason and does well he wont be going anywhere, when samb was asked if kalinic is leaving on twitter he said he doesnt think so as "kalinic wants to stay and prove his worth"(can only do that if he gets games though!), id love too see him come good.
Fife Rover Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Venkys to employ family memebers to bid for players not Agents http://www.people.co...02039-23260166/ Good for them and I hope they make it work. Shame that the rest of the football clubs dont do something similar because there is no doubt at all that since football agents were invented transfer costs and players wages have not just spiraled out of control, they have gone completely insane and are a MAJOR reason for the increasing costs of owning a football club.
Mattyblue Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 You're not wrong Fife, City 'reportedly' to offer Nasri £185,000 a week! Where is it all going to end?!
scotty_beam_me_up Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Any truth in the David Hillier rumours. I know we are out of the Andy Impey after Venkys baulked at some of his bizarre contract requests.

imy9 Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 If a player in the Danish league wants 50k a week and is valued at 8.5 million, then I can see why the owners value Kalinic at 12 million-crazy Market to work in. Good plan by the owners to have in house agents- not going to help us in the next couple of weeks though.
Inta Beaver Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 If a player in the Danish league wants 50k a week and is valued at 8.5 million, then I can see why the owners value Kalinic at 12 million-crazy Market to work in. Exiled in Toronto Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 I suspect Nicko is attempting to show the owners that it might be better having him inside the tent peeing out
Al Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 I'd prefer us to go for Carlton Cole at £6m than blow the money on a unproven player. Prefer one proven to be useless then would you?
Inta Beaver Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Prefer one proven to be useless then would you? So you would prefer us to take a gamble on a £8m player who plays in some tin pot league?
Roverdale Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 I think things with kalinic could have been very different if certain goals had Counted when disallowed wrongly. Roverdale Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 So you would prefer us to take a gamble on a £8m player who plays in some tin pot league? Carlton Cole is just an expensive Jason Roberts.. we cannot have them both! I'd much rather spend £8m on a striker from another league. Especially one that is built. Even if he's crap he will still be better than Carlton Cole.
