ElTwis Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Rumours on twitter from one guy who claims to be in the know, dont know anything about his sources so just worth mentioning his names.... Witsel #Rovers still hoping to sign Witsel on loan #Rovers have offered £4m + 20% sell on to Standard OR season long loan. Player wants to join but worried Benfica will move on if not agreed Malbranque Steed Malbranque to sign for #Rovers on loan in the next week to ten days Malbranque update - #Sunderland want 500k for season long loan, surely #Rovers should just buy? Samba #Spurs have enquired about @cs4christsamba1 #Rovers Defoe Good news at last - #Kean fancies Defoe, has pushed the merits. Owners agree but don't want to be seen to fail again, up to #Defoe #Rovers I've no idea of the sources but none of these seem very likely. Malbranque I don't think would add much and I would think we are after a defensive midfielder first. Defoe - surely not much cheaper than Cisse? Samba - yea OK, Spurs might fancy him to be fair and I suppose there could be a potential swap deal but I don't see them outbidding Arsenal if it's a purely cash deal Witsel - everything suggests that ship has sailed That said, I'd love to be wrong, Witsel, Malbranque, Defoe and Mongongu and I'd be feeling a lot better about the coming season!
Mercer Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 I am totally depressed after reading recent posts on here, in particular, Nicko's insights (welcome back). WTF is going on. Struggling to detect even a flicker of hope. To those who haven't renewed ST's yet, I say well done - let your head rule your heart. I am utterly gobsmacked - not in my wildest nightmares did I think that things could get so desperate. We are sh@gged.

DavidMailsTightPerm Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Mongongu should be straightforward. Surely. The wait for a striker is the one that is the biggest concern. All of the expensive ones have yet to find a home and seem to be off the radar. Even the average ones are expensive. So all the best with that search. You never know two might come along at once. Nicko always appreciate your input - but it ain't half depressing at the moment. Hope that eitehr your info is wrong - or the owners do a quick u-turn before we end up as relegation fodder - which is where we are going at the moment. The worry is - it isn't just the fans they have to impress but players like Samba and Hoilett who are currently considering the merits of what (at the moment) look like some pretty hollow promises about the club moving forward. Mrs D - please prove me wrong.

Its been the same for a number of seasons now, so you've clearly felt this way for a while, how about Prozac
Mattyblue Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Its been the same for a number of seasons now, so you've clearly felt this way for a while, how about Prozac It sure has Gav, but I thought this was 'a bright new era'?
JAL Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 rumours going around kean is interested in defoe and were trying to sign Steed Malbranque on season long loan, some one beat me to it lol Malbranque is somebody having a laugh Must do better much better !
adsfortheblues Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 rumours going around kean is interested in defoe and were trying to sign Steed Malbranque on season long loan, some one beat me to it lol I said a couple of weeks ago rovers were interested in steed nobody took me on, anyway good player i would be happy
pick32 Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Malbranque could be an option if Diouf goes. As for totenham interested in samba I would say that we want Defoe and bassong in exchange.
greco Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 i have a hunch that leasing, aka loaning players, will be used to fill in what ever gaps there might be. If im right, we will have to wait until the top teams, have established which players are needed or not. Nicko, do you know, whether such plans are being discussed or worked on.? if we bring in a couple of quality players on transfers, i wouldnt mind going in for some loans, later in the window.
roverandout Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 donnermeat, its how i feel right now, anyone got some rope?
Gav Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 It sure has Gav, but I thought this was 'a bright new era'? Don't tell mercerman, he'll have to up his dose
donnermeat Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Malbranque could be an option if Diouf goes. As for totenham interested in samba I would say that we want Defoe and bassong in exchange. Good call Bassong would be a great replacement for Jones he has been quality everytime I've seen him. As for Defoe I suppose it all depends on what system we play though I have never been a massive fan. that being said I wouldn't be upset to see him down at Ewood. donnermeat, its how i feel right now, anyone got some rope? I'm glad you don't have any nearby after reading that post!! Haha
JAL Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Malbranque could be an option if Diouf goes. Had his day unfortunately. Past his best
pick32 Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Had his day unfortunately. Past his best He would fit rite in with pedersen, emerton, roberts, grella, andrews and dunn then
patrickvalery Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Had his day unfortunately. Past his best And yet he'd be a marked improvement on what we've got. Says it all really.
Glenn Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 As much as I'm sure we have readers who enjoy grown men comparing the size of their "fandom", the bloody transfer thread isn't the place to do it. After Ricky has asked nicely I still had to remove nrealy 2 pages worth of willy waving. Reasons for not renewing season tickets go in the ST thread, not this transfer thread. It's not rocket science.
JAL Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 He would fit rite in with pedersen, emerton, roberts, grella, andrews and dunn then I'd say he isnt or definitely wouldnt be good enough to compare with the first three above pick, Three or four years ago, yes, but definitely not now. Somone at the club is being shown up at the club if theres any truth in Malbranque. Sack the board !
Lurid Coat Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 so you think there could be truth in these rumours he posted on twitter Let's just cling on to the hope that there actually is some truth to these rumours (at least regarding Witsel and Defoe). If Witsel actually wants to sign for us, I hope there is a slim chance that we can get him on loan with an option to buy (or for a fee, but we don't seem to have the money Standard requires). Player power and all that, see Demba Ba et al.
Hi Mack Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 so you think there could be truth in these rumours he posted on twitter Known hitch for 15 years and now, and there is no chance he would make it up or do it as a wind up! There will be something about the stories! I'll ask him to come on and explain what he's heard, he won't give a source I know that for a fact. He has however been summoned by Glenn on twitter so he might have been silenced! Haha

Parsonblue Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Having watched the Reserves at Kendal yesterday, I was intrigued by the appearance of Fergus Bell in midfield during the first half. A former Hibernian youngster, he joined the Glenn Hoddle Academy in Spain last September. Needless to say his agency is SEM. It would appear that Jerome Anderson is still involved in bringing players to the club and I note that Axel Witsel is another of his clients. Sadly, Bell didn't make much impression yesterday but hopefully will get the chance to shine in some of the remaining pre-season games for the Reserves. He had a very good reputation in Scotland while playing with the youth set up at Hibernian.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Had his day unfortunately. Past his best I agree with you on Malbranque, give him a miss.
