Tricky Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 you'd think we were preparing for the championship for the interest in malbranque
Hi Mack Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Having watched the Reserves at Kendal yesterday, I was intrigued by the appearance of Fergus Bell in midfield during the first half. A former Hibernian youngster, he joined the Glenn Hoddle Academy in Spain last September. Needless to say his agency is SEM. It would appear that Jerome Anderson is still involved in bringing players to the club and I note that Axel Witsel is another of his clients. Sadly, Bell didn't make much impression yesterday but hopefully will get the chance to shine in some of the remaining pre-season games for the Reserves. He had a very good reputation in Scotland while playing with the youth set up at Hibernian. Im sorry but if the lad has been at Glenn Hoddles Academy he was deemed not good enough for Hibs. Have SEM got any impressive players? exc. Witsel? Dont see the point in bringing average players in on trial surely its only going to push out a youth team player! Fergus Bell
ackroyd75 Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 I wonder if UEFA's Financial Fair Play rule is the reason the owners have changed the value of the players we are trying to sign.
leerovers1980 Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 maybe we should put a sign outside ewood park everything for sale everything must go, getting more and more depressing everyday being a fan, I'm slowly being dragged into the hate venkys group
RibbleValleyRover Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Spurs lead Samba race Wonder which players Spurs would be willing to put in the deal. Bassong doesn't look too bad but is a downgrade on Samba imo, Jenas I don't rate, Bentley? I would love to see him back but with Hoilett here currently where would he play?
47er Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 You seem to be on a real downer about Rovers at the moment, and you are certainly grown up, and thick skinned, enough to put up with a few comments from people on a messageboard? Lost a key source due to all the changes being made? Cold be that there is no good news!
andyroversmad Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 I would rather we sold him to Spurs I would take Bassong and Huddelstone or Bassong and Kranjcar.
youandwhosearmy Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Surely if Kalinic is worth 12 million, Samba is worth more...haha seriously though...starting to get very worried for next season.
leerovers1980 Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 bassong and pavlyuchenko for me and then we sorted two positions out
bluebruce Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Wenger can shove it up his arse. Samba is UNDER priced at £12 million. Jackass.
T.J.Newton Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 i think exchange deals between prem clubs are a bit of an urban legend, i cant think of any of any substance in recent years, but saying that i dont follow other clubs transfer dealings to closely so i could be wrong.
Roversi Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 i said this about 3 weeks back, if spurs come in for samba than great, i'd take 3 mill and a couple of thier players in exchange. guys like Bassong, Kranjcar, Keane, Bentley, Palacios, Dos Santos, Jenas and Hutton are all being encouraged out the door at the Lane. Hutton however is on his way to Villa, and Dos Santos will be on his way back to spain or a end up signing for a greek team and getting lost out there. Jenas and Bassong for me. Kranjcar is apparently valued at 10 mill at the mo by spurs which would mean him and 2 mill for samba effectivly. however i'd rather kill two birds with one stone and get Jenas and Bassong. Replacement in bassong and JJ replacement in Jenas, leaving us with still 20 mill plus for a striker and whoever else.

joey_big_nose Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Problem with taking players off Spurs is that they over value them. ALso quite a few of them would not be that keen on coming to Rovers. That said Palacios appears plausible because he liked the northwest - also exactly the type of player we need. I imagine Kranjaer and Bassong might consider Ewood. Keane maybe but it seems a bit of a stretch to me... Anyone who thinks Pavlychenko or Defoe are going to end up at Rovers need their heads checked. Absolutely no chance. As for Bentley - things have gone so poorly for him that he probably would have a think about coming back if it was on the table. But for me it seems a bit of a side issue - the pressing priorities are striker, defensive midfield and defence in that order. Bentley does not address any of those positions.
roverandout Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 wouldnt want bentley back, overrated and thought he was too good for us, he can rot in spuds's reserves for all i care.
rovers1993 Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 The most we could get from spurs would be like Krancjar + 2m or Bassong + 5m or Pavylchecnko +4m. we won't get 2 players that are of enough quality to fit into our team. My preferance would be Krancjar + Palacios. That way our midfield is pretty much covered. Get 2 more defenders in for 10m or under. and we'll have around 15m for a top striker. that brings a net spend of 5m just as venky's promised they would. 5m every window plus all cash from sales. Jones 20m + 5m of injected cash.
philipl Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 I believe the owners are looking for very significantly more than £12m for Samba and would dig in hard to get it. This could be a rare case where player(s) could move in the opposite direction as Harry has a list which are undoubtedly PL quality and are on not totally unreasonable wages within the Spurs system. Palacios is a player who has played in the north west and is not in favour at WHL. Arsenal are not yet even at the race course so far as Rovers concerned irrespective of whatever smooching has been going on involving the player's connections.

Palacios would be a good replacement for JJ. If Spuds want Samba then I would take a couple of players as part of the deal from them. The players I would take are Palacios, Keane, Jenas and Bassong. I can't see us attract Kranjcar, Defoe, Pavlychenko or Hutton who is on his way to Villa.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 jenas???? Yeah, I don't rate him either, we should stay away.

I agree, but would remove Jenas and replace with Huddlestone. The other option people aren`t mentioning is Crouchy, who knows ? One thing we may have is the connection to spurs via Robbo - surely he could be a pulling factor for some fo the boys he knows well (that is, if he thinks ewood is still a place to come to)
davulsukur Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 If there is a swap deal to be done then we should be looking at getting it done. Bassong would be first on the list, which gives us an immediate replacement for samba. Then we could be looking at Keane or as others have mentioned Palacios to replace JJ. It would be difficult to do this kind of deal though, they would over value their players. We'd be lucky to get Palacios in a straight swap.
budha Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 Palacios' move to Naples allegedly collapsed as Napoli were willing to pay only £10M and Spurs wanted £12M. So Spurs would be looking for a straight swap for Samba, which I don't think would be in our benefit. For Jenas, Kranjcar or Bassong we might be getting a few pounds in return too..
47er Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 Palacios and Bassong for me as filling 2 essential positions. Would still like Bentley but I seem to be the only one who thinks that position needs filling!
