There's no need to panic about the lack of signings yet. Rovers will get players in, but the quality of those players is in doubt - to my mind anyway.

I don't agree with the views that we've got until the 1st Septmeber though. Once the season kicks off, clubs wont be as willing to let players go. Any quality permanent signings, would have to be done in the next 3/4 weeks I reckon. Last minute deals will most likely be loans of players.

You would think that any new arrivals would have to happen in the next 10 days or so before we jet off to India/Hong Kong, i presume it would be hard to do business whilst we are out there.

Am i the only one who thinks that 7 million quid for 28 YO defender who has been part of a back 4 that got relegated is still far too much?

no youre not alone, pal. i feel the same.

maybe johnson and dann are benefiting from the fact that birmingham's squad was terrible, on the whole, and because they were always involved, throughout most games, due to the pressure they had to soak up! therefore they looked better than they actually were/ are.

shining in a poor team doesnt necessarily translate! :)

Birmingham where not relegated because of a defensive weakness, they where relegated because they where the lowest scoring team in the league. They kept more clean sheets and conceeded less than Rovers

DIDNT SAY THEY WERE RELAGATED FOR DEFENSIVE WEAKNESS! just that due to the action areas dann and johnson were made to look better. read things!

We have depth there?

Well, relative to central midfield and up front! Samba, Givet, Nelsen and Hanley is an embarrassment of riches compared to what we have in other positions.

We should be joining West Brom in offering Hargreaves a 'pay-as-you-play' deal. He's the answer to our midfield problems if he's over his injury problems.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha! You should see the mess I was in in Asia!

I was the only one who supported Blackburn Rovers in my school - okay, maybe only one is a stretch, but we never numbered more than 5.

Everyone else was supporting clubs like Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal, etc. I received weird looks of disbelief whenever I tell the other football fans I support Blackburn Rovers.

Not that I cared. Rovers till I die.

Anyway, seems that there is no news on Mongungu yet.

I think the only way I'd be happy to see Samba go is if we could get a couple of the Spurs lads in return and that's only because if it was cash, no matter how much I'd be worried it would never be used.

Has Andranik Temouryian shown up yet?

Nicko any truth that were scouting a 16year old from Caen with a view to play in our first team squad :(

Niang? Man City tried, Spurs bid, Liverpool are in. Exciting player. May be a bit flaky.

Full story was in the Sunday People a couple of weeks running.

Lazy readers, eh. ;)

Would Spurs offer us a couple of players and no cash in part exchange for Samba?

or would it be a cash deal with Bassong coming to rovers instead?

or just straight cash deal?

i agree. hopefully Kean and the owners are putting bids in for players today and them signed up in the week or so.

My dad wouldn't have let me in the house wearing a 'glory' shirt. Not thatit would have ever crossed my mind as a Blackburner from a family of avid Blues.

Are you a passionate Rovers fan Matty? You haven't mentioned that before :)

Spurs are no mugs when it comes to valuations and negotiations. The idea of taking them for a ride with player exchanges is an optimistic one at best. I'd imgainge that they value Samba and Palacios pretty much equally, for example.

Checked with three separate sources close to Samba - and there is NO fixed fee in his new contract.

Why in your article then, is 12 million quoted? Seems awfully low if there is no fixed fee.

Even stranger, considering we value Kalinic at 12 million also...

Spurs have been 'talking' about this with Rovers for some time. That's why the Robbie Keane thing came up. Since then it has got more serious and Levy has given a mandate to his favoured agent to get it done.

However Spurs being Spurs it will take forever and a day to get done.

And I don't see them paying his wages.

I would not fret too much on this. It has a long and twisting way to run.

Bassong? Things are never THAT bad.

Spurs and Arsenal are dying forces, I'd avoid both if I was Samba. Arsenal have already lost Clichy and are set to lose Fabregas and Nasri too. Spurs didn't look the same force last season (maybe the CL took it out of them), they are devoid of top four talent up front and are set to lose Modric and possibly Bale.
