I would take Keane as part of any deal for Samba. I would like Jenas or Palacios or Bassong as part of the Samba deal aswell because it would leave more money for us to buy proven goalscorer and that is what we need to move up the league and this is what we were lacking last season. Hopefully not this season tho!

Nicko any movement on papiss cisse or witsel or has that ship sailed?

Any news on any incomings or are we stil looking to offload before we buy?

Cisse has not found a buyer, neither has Vucinic for that matter. Witsel and Benfica is still being haggled over.

I believe there may be a better idea now about what the Rovers budget is.

But that info was before lunchtime.

Much could have changed since.

Depends where those in charge of it went for lunch doesn't it?

As you correctly point out, our owners seem to change their minds more often than normal people change their socks. However, if by a miracle they don't change their minds again, do you think the budget is sufficient to get some decent players signed up? IMO we need to spend quite a bit of money just to stand still, and even more if we are to improve.

Hope you are right. Do you know if it a decent budget ?

£7M for Johnson is too much... he's half the player without Dann beside him, and it's no coincidence Brum suffered once Dann got injured. Missing out on that "deal" is no big loss as far as I'm concerned.

so we still could get Cisse and Witsel in then nicko?

Both would be good signings

Cisse's fee and wages are miles too high. I don't see that coming down.

Witsel should be a deal you could do - for so many reasons.

I get the feeling the 'big money' will go on a striker...getting one won't be easy...no matter how hard you try.

If you get one and Benfica are still haggling then you might come back into the Witsel thing. I fear that will be done before you land your forward.

Are any of these still Rovers targets.

I thought they were not going for the big money transfers or is that just big 'name' players?

Cisse's fee would have to be cut by a few million and his wage demands would have to be almost halved. Chances of that? Slim.

Vucinic's fee is so high that even Roma admit they might be stuck with him. His wage demands are equally high.

Witsel remains a target until he signs for Benfica. They are far more likely to do it than Rovers. But they might get fed up. Then you would have to double your last offer...

A whole lot of 'ifs and buts' there.

It would be stupid to stick to these 'rules' when somebody ideal may just come up and fit your bill.

The owners would do well to concentrate on signing players rather than making statements.

Yes, it's a tough market. But, no, don't make it hard for yourselves by saying things that could come back and bite your ass.

If a good player became available at the right price and in the right position do you think Rovers would say 'no'?

You HAVE money from the sale of Phil Jones. You ARE four players down - on a thin squad at the end of the season.

Those are the only two statements that really apply.

So we did actually make an offer ? interesting, any news on Hoilett Nicko ?

With our owners wanting to be their own agents - (how feesible that is, is another subject) - would not the transfer of any player be a lot harder now. Wonder if you could clarify this news about venkys and family members being agents. Is that a plan for this transfer window or for later on in their ownership?

I understand there were two 'offers' made by Rovers for Witsel. Different figures, different formats.

Hoilett? Would you sign at the moment if you were him? I would be looking for a fortune and a fixed fee. He is in the position to do what he wants.

Fergus Bell.

You weren't joking when you said were scrapping the barrel. Giving a trial to a player released by Hibernian and now playing for Glen Hoddle Academy. Just to throw in abit of controversial debate he is also on SEM's books :o
