Black Burn Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 There are as usual some very worthwhile reads on this thread, then there is the usual crud spouted by those who refuse to accept the views of other contributors. Alan Nixon may not be a Rovers supporter but he brings a lot of good insight into what is happening. Those who dont like it can simply ignore it. keep up the good work Alan. some of this threads contribitors should reaslise the Rovers are a club in crisis. We may have some cash and we may have little debt. WE DO NOT HAVE ANY LEADERSHIP WE DO NOT KNOW WHO IS RUNNING THE CLUB WE HAVE NOONE WHO CAN TAKE CHARGE OF NEGOTIATIONS ON THE TRANSFER FRONT OUR OWNERS ARE PRETTY CLUELESS ON HOW TO RUN A FOOTBALL CLUB Until the above change we are going nowhere fast. It appears that Mrs. Desai has assumed leadership, is now the one who is effectively running the club, taking charge of negotiations on the tranfer front and this came from both Alan Nixon and Kamy themselves. So we don't have to worry about the first three anymore. The last one is still debatable, and it's up to Mrs. Desai whether she is capable of running a football club and handling transfers.

bluebruce Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 Whilst I think I know what you are getting at I think you've contradicted yourself in two lines there - surely you don't need a "feel" for anything if you're just going to pay what the player wants? Yes, you do. Because you have to understand what is a sensible wage to pay to a player. If you don't understand this, you may walk away from discussions because you think somebody is asking far too much when they're not, or give somebody a lucrative contract far beyond what they will actually settle for. And I'm not talking about paying them whatever they want, that'd be stupid, I'm talking about there being a limit to how little they will take, and you also have to understand how the right bonus packages may help.
beastlove Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 If a good player became available at the right price and in the right position do you think Rovers would say 'no'? You HAVE money from the sale of Phil Jones. You ARE four players down - on a thin squad at the end of the season. Those are the only two statements that really apply. Nick can you really count Santa cruz as a player last season. I am just going to pretend that we signed him and he is injured again! Looking forward to him getting fit again
nicko Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 I wonder who the foreign free agent midfielder is? Don't waste any time on that one...he signed for Crystal Palace instead. Nick can you really count Santa cruz as a player last season. I am just going to pretend that we signed him and he is injured again! Looking forward to him getting fit again You have to. In fact, if you throw in Benjani then you are FIVE down on a pitifully small squad from the end of last season. Three 'strikers' away, your most powerful midfielder and the class act at the back. Not much work to be done, then...
modes98 Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 Even if he decides to stay in the Midlands? So...we should relocate the club to the Midlands to sign him? Really? Really? We should go in for him. If he then makes the decision to stay in the midlands with Wolves then so beit, but at least we tried to get him. Also he could probably live in the midlands and travel up, depending upon where. Brum mates were expecting £10-12m for him and are not very happy at all.
beastlove Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 Fantastic. I challenge anyone to make a positive out of that. I have heard that her tactic is to recreate that famous scene from basic instinct during negotiations! That is the positive for you
rebelmswar Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 Don't waste any time on that one...he signed for Crystal Palace instead. Well that sentance sums it up really. I have heard that her tactic is to recreate that famous scene from basic instinct during negotiations! That is the positive for you Positive is such a subjective word.
adsfortheblues Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 Don't waste any time on that one...he signed for palace Don't tell me we where after jerdinak? If so we are in for a depressing summer
tugay5 Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 Nicko .... So are there any transfers close apart from cedric mongongu? or has any progress been made lately
The Rover of Finland Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 So we "missed" Mile Jedinak. Are we really concidering these kind of players? Can´t decide whether cry or laugh. Just hope we won´t sell anyone besides Grella before buying. Venky´s would bring even worse in. Even dingles must be laughing at us. I know I would if I could.
ChesterRover Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 Thats who I thought, fits the description and i highly rated. I wonder who the foreign free agent midfielder is? Has Mahamadou Diarra signed for anyone yet?
leerovers1980 Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 Has Mahamadou Diarra signed for anyone yet? isnt he at monaco
dhughes07 Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 Listening to the pod cast the attacking midfielder has got to be the Forrest lad. It all adds up to why everything has stalled too, or at least I hope it does.
donnermeat Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 Has Mahamadou Diarra signed for anyone yet? Would love it if we could get him but depends on his wage demands I suppose. Would be a more than adequate replacement for JJ
ChesterRover Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 isnt he at monaco Pretty sure he only had a short term contract at Monaco and is now on a free? A very good option if still available.
davulsukur Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 Surely Mrs D will seek advice on transfer fees etc. Also now at least we have a decision maker, isn't she Keans biggest fan as well? So surely she will back his targets and they won't have to have their bookgroup meetings anymore.
DavidMailsTightPerm Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 It's not funny Gav,we should not be in this position..we are being run like a flurkin Circus! NO POSITIVES TO BE FOUND HERE. I agree it ain't ideal - but at least somebody is taking control. Providing she takes advice on football matters - and is only necogiating - I have no problem with it. Would prefer somebody with football experience - but at the moment football is like a cliche run by agents - maybe she can shake things up as she did with the Jones transfer. Maybe established hacks thought it funny - but few of them admitted that we got a further £4.5m when they said we had given in to United. Give her a chance - and to be honest it is her money at risk !
den Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 Give her a chance - and to be honest it is her money at risk ! Jesus.
daveoftherovers Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 Jesus. It's not his is it? FFS, that will upset a few folk... ;-)

The same woman who openly admits she knows nothing about football? This is by far the craziest decision yet and there have been some real corkers
Mattyblue Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 The same woman who openly admits she knows nothing about football? This is by far the craziest decision yet and there have been some real corkers Tell you what Dave, you could say decisions are being made through seances with the dearly departed Mr Venky Senior and it would get support from the usual crew on here.
DavidMailsTightPerm Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 Jesus. Some people are "glass half full" - some are "glass half empty". I think somebody nicked your glass If you are going to Morecambe - we can discuss the merits of our new owners over a pint - your buying

Yeah Mrs D is Kean biggest fan. didn't the Rao's brothers want to get rid of Kean and Mrs D said nope!!!

Ha ha, as long as there is a Toffee crisp involved it gets my thumbs up. I feel i have fallen into the Anti-Venky crew, but i would love nothing more than for them to succeed but one decision after another reduces your faith in them. Lets hope the things mention on the podcast come to fruition
