Bolton have signed Darren Pratley and Everton have signed Eric Dier again on loan. Should have said Villa and QPR, I'll give you Chelsea though.

Good buy Darren Pratley. Still good players and relative bargains to be found in the Championship. Just cos they don't have exotic names, doesn't mean they can't play!

Hopefully we are after McGuigan.

Not so sure about Pratley... he wasn't even in Swansea's first team at the end of last season in the Championship. I'm not convinced he'll cut it in the premier league.

So the papers haven't printed anything new then. All of those names have been on here for a good few days yet now it's printed in a tabloid people start stressing.

I don't actually think malbranque is a bad player, but that's the rub, he's not bad but no better than the rest of our current midfield. I'd put him on a par with Emerton, Dunn, and Gamst. So what's the point of buying another squad player. We need players who will improve our team immediately or young up and coming players. Steed does not fall into either of those catagories so I'd pass on him.

I actually really like bassong. I'd be happy to get him in a deal for samba. Prefer him and Pav / defoe but doubt spurs will offer that. Shame we didn't go for Rose when they were looking at selling him. They won't now I doubt.

Spurs really do have some quality players who Harry wants to shift.

I'm on the "we won't get Defoe" boat.

I just can't see him wanting to come to us.

Malbranque.....Meh, as said before. Not bad, but not great.

Bassong would do a good job for us.

And I hope that Venkys not wanting to waste money on Keane is true.

Would love to see Defoe up here, and even Robbie Keane if his price is reducing - would much prefer a cash deal and Samba staying.

Come on Venkys, lets splash some cash and start improving our team in prep for the season - improve the team = win over your fan base and start improving the relationship !

You have to be quicker than that to beat Chaddy!

Oh and before I forget, I know I am probably reading too much into this but I wonder if this is a slight dig at Venkys?

@TimmoYoung: @cs4christsamba1 What's better KFC or Venkys Chicken?”// kfc

:D

I'm not really seeing the funny side of our captain's Internet squakings. Seems like he's doing his best to put the club in a bad light, when it's part of his job to do the exact opposite. He may as well use his phone to call a Paraguayan radio station...

One thing that is looking clear is that we are likely to have to sacrifice Samba to get any semblance of quality in (providing we can part ex). Cash deal is a no, no.

Haven't we already made a big enough sacrifice? But the right part ex sounds favourite.

I can't believe we are reduced to the same transfer policy as we were under The Trust. Talk about a false dawn. :(

We need to invest PJ+extra if we are to move forward this year. I don't mind a couple of players for a couple of million each as long as they are young and have potential.

Nicko-cheers me up with great names but under Venkys I feel impotent at the moment- we need a signing or two to settle a number of nerves. Is there any update on the Chairman situation?

DEFOE...fair play to the phantom twitterer...checked that out with my own people who revealed that it is a live one and the club are using a few of Defoe's mates to talk him into it...big target...would make a difference...will he leave London?...the big question.

SAMBA...it wouldn't HAVE to be a swap, but obviously that would help the deal through...trouble is that means TWO centre halves.

MONGONGU...there is rival interest which is good because he must be OK but bad because he may prefer them.

MALBRANQUE...not so pleased with the phantom twitterer on that one [private joke]...it's a possible...one of many.

So, a bit of possible good news. But nothing done yet.

:D that bit made me chuckle.

Nicko, have you heard any rumblings in your circles on the potential club sale front? If we are in negotiations to sell, it could well explain the lack of transfer activity.

Defoe would be a great signing for us because he is the proven goalscorer we NEED!!!

If Samba goes to spurs then we should say we want Bassong as part of the deal, leaving us only needing one centre back.

Nicko, is WBA the rival for the Mongongu?

Malbranque is a decent player and ok has squad player.

and? Have they contacted the club and offered shirt sponsorship?

Bang on Hemel, No they haven't, they are focused on their relationship with Lancashire Cricket Club and their Old Trafford Ground.

Good for him. Now let us never speak of him again.

Too true! What a complete plant pot that guy is.

Anyway, we are "Rent a name" aren't we? Need to link your player with someone to drum up interest? Then just use Blackburn Rovers, Simples!

..and that is the big question, likes the clubs and the nighlife Defoe, can't see him moving up north.
