Defoe would be a great signing for us because he is the proven goalscorer we NEED!!!

If Samba goes to spurs then we should say we want Bassong as part of the deal, leaving us only needing one centre back.

Nicko, is WBA the rival for the Mongongu?

Malbranque is a decent player and ok has squad player.

Lille are the rivals for Mongongu - info from one of the excellent researchers in this parish that checks out too.

Chaddy, if you keep mentioning Bassong I will have to put you on ignore.

;)

What's wrong with Bassong?

Can't say I know a lot about him as I have only been following Blackburn players.

Positive news today then nicko. Think we are all too aware that it could change by the hour and we could end up with nothing. Keep the updates coming

Just to put it in perspective...there is ONE MONTH to the first game...and FIVE players needed.

So time to turn the talk into action.

I hope that the dithering spell of role-changing, list-ripping, budget-trimming and then budget-part-restoring plus possible takeover-dreaming does not prove to be damaging in the final analysis.

so as normal lots of players linked but no one signed.

while I think there is still time, pre-season has started and if we want players to be settled the sooner we sign the players that we want the better. :D

lets hope Mrs D can get the ball rolling because some one needs too. :tu:

..and that is the big question, likes the clubs and the nighlife Defoe, can't see him moving up north.

That's the rub. He will have options dahn sayff, so I just can't see it.

However, anybody knocking Defoe as a player need to give their heads a wobble.

bout a year ago I remember watching Defoe and thinking he could do a job at United, but Harry loves his chopping and changing, I really feel that all the strikers

Pavlyuchenko

Crouch

Keane

defoe

all four struggle to gain consistent form under Harry.

excluding Keane I think all three would be huge stars at Blackburn because if if they don't score for 2 games they will not get sacked to the bench.

9 million for Defoe is a must for me although I think he is worth more, will he come though and what does he earn.

A lot has been made of Spurs fairly strict wage limits so I'm sure he'd fit in with our structure.

I just don't know if he'd fancy the move or not.

And if a player agrees to play for Spurs in London for a one sum, it doesn't mean he'll come to Rovers for the same sum.

Conflicting news about Witsel:

Newspaper Record claims a deal has been reached between Benfica, Standard Liege and Witsel. Price: €8 million

From Italy, the rumour is that Roma made a bid of €9 million.

Thanks Oklahoma.

To me it sounds like Standard Liege is very eager to sell the player , but no one are willing to meet the price yet.

How reliable is that paper who broke the story about the 5 year deal Okla?

Good question.

The newspaper that usually "defends" Benfica is A Bola. News today is there will be a board meeting at Standard about transfers. Possibly to decide on the future of Witsel.

Newspaper Record usually defends Sporting Lisbon and normally attack Benfica. The news can be reliable but not as reliable as A Bola. Although they are very positive that Witsel is going to benfica for €8 million.

Same goes for O Jogo, pro FC Porto newspaper, that today claims that a deal is close and there has been a lot of negotiations between the clubs. However, no one claims it's a done deal.

interesting. might me an auction, and who can blame standard.

as roberto said the other wk, they value him at 11M, so be surprised if they accept anything below that.
