I believed in giving the owners a chance. I respect people who put money into clubs. I also respect their right to make the big decisions at their club.

However if you waste that chance when it comes to the crunch, then my opinion changes.

Not a question of integrity. Just common sense and analysis.

If you're gonna go in, you've got to go all in. No sense in committing and then suddenly trying to reverse at high speed because suddenly you're not so keen.

They're all mouth and no trousers. They need the football version of Viagra because otherwise that hot chick they've taken home from the disco is gonna get hacked off and will be getting medieval on their ass.

I cannot argue with that.

My opinion has been changed by the last 2 or 3 weeks worth of gossip. I agree that you should simply not read posts if they aren't from posters you respect, or take posts with a pinch of salt.

My only gripe is currently I am neck deep in salt

I can agree with that.

Nicko is a lovely man and his views show us a little of how the behind the scenes side ofootball works.

Currently batting 0 for 9 is not really his fault if the mayhem at Rovers is to be believed.

How come you didn't report that he'd been offered a deal a month ago then Nicko? You were pretty clear that there was no deal in place, that he wouldn't be offered a deal and that his future lay elsewhere.

You then dismissed the LET's claims of a contract offer out of hand.

I think you will find I did run that tale after Keano's conference at the end of the season...

But then it moved on. He didn't want the offer. He spoke to other clubs.

I also recall writing he was coming this time last year. He didn't get his deal until the last minute.

It would be a total shocker if he has been signed NOW when the club is supposed to be making progress.

Defoe wont come, simple as, he did his drop down a club to get back up again at Pompey and at 28 or whatever he is, he is slightly to old to try that again. It's annoying for the first time in years that we have a nice little budget for a striker and we are having as much trouble finding one then we did when we had no budget at all.

Defoe would have been fantastic , however i think we would stand a better chance with Crouch

Nah I dont think we've got more chance with crouch at all, he was an important part of spurs squad the year before and the beginning of last season. They was playing the ball into him and he'd be laying it off to van Der vaart who would be peeling off the defender . Worked very effectively aswell and I can't see harry wanting rid of him

Benjani didn't even look that bad last year people are labeling him with an unfair donkey tag. I cant think of anyone who would be a better option as emergency backup for less than £5000 a week and would be happy to be proved wrong if anyone can think of a better option.

you should never be allowed to go to Las Vegas.

Easy, tiger.

Grr.

Currently batting 0 for 9 is not really his fault if the mayhem at Rovers is to be believed.

Two for 11...claiming Phil Jones to Man U and Frank Fielding to Derby. ;)

Maybe even three for 12 if somebody would come out and confirm Baez.

The score that matters is 0 for 0 signings of any real note.

This is my problem with the "vague" comments I mentioned. Comments such as this;

Lead to comments like this;

the club is in a total shambles they don't even no who there going to sign

Unless I am missing something, we have been under new stewardship for less than 8 months. Can anybody honestly say they expected the change of ownership to be a smooth process, where within 2 weeks, all aspects of the club and franchise became instantly right for the new regime?

Things take to bed down. The mere fact we escaped relegation has to be attributed to the players over the manager. A new transfer advisory systems are new to the press and fans alike, new scouting methods, new contract methods. Everything has to be looked into in the same way. The club will take at least 18 months to be run in a way the Rao's are comfortable.

Patience has to got to be given to Venkys. At least we haven't spent 50m on questionable signings, or thrown in our wage bill in 5 injury plagued free transfers. Save the mass Hysteria for 2 weeks into august.

Bit of a big ask to ask people to tone down the mass hysteria JB- have you seen most of the threads on here ;)

Cheers for clarifying Alan.

Signing the likes of Benjani BEFORE a big name signing will not help sell season tickets.

If we bought in 2 or 3 top class players I'm sure nobody would have an issue with Benjani. But making him our first signing (or possibly second if baez is confirmed) is surely commercial suicide!!

I would add that I am quite happy with Benjani as 4th choice, If Niko is being shipped out it makes sense to keep him on a very low deal.

Does she know her football though?.

None of us can claim to know what happens in the boardroom when negotiating premier league contracts

Only a select few business men, football managers & agents know how these deals work & i am sure it is not an exact science!!

Everyone will have their own strategy & style & im sure Mrs D's business knowledge, if used in the correct manner, can only help

The football side will be left to a mix of Paul Hunt, Kentaro/SEM & Kean

Mrs D negotiating contracts is the least of our worries

"Squad player" ... a new euphemism for "rubbish"?

An alternative to 'not every player can be a first team player'. Obviuosly he's not good enough to make the starting eleven every week but then if he was he'd either be in the starting eleven or not be here at all.

Think people have every right to worry about the lack of transfer activity going on at the moment. Pre season has started and its crucial for new signings to be involved in order to hit the ground running also the new season starts next month. Two weeks into august is far to late to just start be bringing players in.I was hoping for a couple new signings before the tournament in asia to be honest but as things stand we maybe able to get one win over there.

£5k p/w for a backup striker? The only way we could do this better would be to get him on a 'pay as you play', and even then it's unlikely his base wage would be less than £5k!

I wasn't counting when you were hitting for other teams.

Fair play to you though, even though it hurt me deeply when you were pinch hitting for Burnley.

I think your Baez line is quite correct but the club are as afraid to admit such things, much like Mr. Moss and his love of fizzy water and bath salts.

I personally like the lad.

Had reservations when we signed him before but he does his job and doesn't moan.

Will do a job as impact player.

I wouldn’t be opposed to keeping Benjani IF Roberts was going, but it's clear that Roberts is going nowhere and he already fits that lack of goals/veteran role. I just don't see why we need both of them.

Vague? It's a fact. You have money [supposedly]. You had and have targets.

Stop talking. Get signing.

Is that vague enough for you?
