Summer 2011 Transfer Window - Part 3.

As for people being right, most opposed the owners from day one, so built opinions without substance or foundation, hardly an exact science.

Most???? I don't think so, it was a minority and I should know as I remember feeling like I was the teacher trying to explain basic facts to a class of over excited school children.

Anyway, here's the Sun article on Pavone, who have chosen not to show a goal celebration picture but his reaction after a missed penalty for some reason (their subtle hint that he's crap?). He also looks like he uses the same gym as Benni McCarthy.

This is the problem I have at the moment, you guys can think it’s a negative attitude or a dig at Venkys, but like I said at the back end of last season, fail to provide quality for the new campaign and we will be in big trouble. This is the ideal opportunity, to provide sufficient funds on a few quality players to move the club forward. Give or take, it’s a simple process with or without Kean in charge, the process should be about maximising this season with enough quality, to project the club forward next season. You have a good season, with quality players(not necessarily big names), next season again with or without Baldy in charge, you will get players much more easily joining. Its not about next season, it about this season and making it work for the club NOW.

Imo , we are already behind in terms of where we need to be. Players should have been in, funds should not have been a problem and pre season should have started with a squad who will hit the ground running from the very 1st game. This is by no means a dig at Venkys, but if you want to sign players on the cheap, then expect the abuse because in all honesty we don’t have to spend huge amounts of money, but to go out of our way for bargain players and freebies, is a bit of a joke. There is no way back for Kean and Venkys, if we struggle untill January and find ourselves immersed in a relegation battle, and having to scrap to recover in the January transfer window. The January transfer window, we shouldn’t be looking to sign anybody, if we can just get it right 1st time.

I have given the owners a chance & chosen to take an optimistic pointy of view, I have believed what they said about their strategy & their long term plan

We cannot take any of the transfer speculation seriously as none of it has come to be

So, what are we left with?

no chairman

A rookie manager

no medical team

lost one of our best players

no sponsor for new season as yet

2 new players that have not played a full game between them

a relegation battle only to survive on the last day of the season

I could probably find more but am struggling to find ANY positives

My heart is being ripped out with all of this

I am made sound like an idiot when I say we are chasing this player & that player only to find no substance in it at all

I hope my fears are unfounded but at the moment I cannot see it any other way than us having a long hard season next year

I live in Ireland & planned on travelling to Ewood a number of times this season but cannot bring myself to do it in our current state!!

Im sorry to sound like a doom merchant but it is how i feel at the moment, i could honestly cry!!

AN UPDATE: Kean has met Nedum Onouha, fee agreed, only talking salary now.

this is all that I can, and will, say.

Would be very happy if this is true - would love to see him here and would start to quell some of this uneasy feeling about the whole affair

Nicko / Kamy - any confirmation on this from your sources ? Also, the other players that were in the building yesterday, any news on them, postion, talent, fee`s ? Any news on Hoilett ?

Not much to ask for, cheers

Really? Thats a decent buy imo.

Kammy, you mention in the podcast that Rovers are looking at a Defensive mid on a freebie, is there any progress on that one?

Well,at least it's a bit of good news. Sign him & Mongongu to cover the loss of Jones and the potential loss of Samba.

Sell Kalinic and buy a top quality striker and maybe hijack Witsel's alleged move to Benfica.

If we then stopped there I'd probably be ok with that although I'd obviously prefer another couple of quality signings.

Decent signing if true, versatile in that he can play in any position across the back four.

I might be the only one however that has a small concern that if say Onuoha is coming for close to £7m and Mongongu for close to £3m that our budget which might be a lot smaller (when you also factor in wages) than we think might get used up. I think we would all agree defense isn't the only area that needs investment.

But Ricky how can we talk about transfer targets and completely avoid the subject of our finances? The two are intrinsically linked.

It's easy, try it. Otherwise, do one and set up camp in a relevant thread where you can feed youy miserablism to your hearts content.

Is the J.Jones deal totally off?

Seems like we're going to have to have one of our best transfer windows just to be at the same level as las year.

A MINIMUM we need is 2 CBs, 2 CMs and 2 strikers. This is not taking into account Hoilett potentially leaving.

preston blue i was just about to let everyone know about him today as there has been progress with that today, it has taken longer than it should due to another club showed interest but looks like blackburn have won his signature

Slowly but surely we are steadily making some progress (in recruiting players) :brfcsmilie: I still want a sponsorless home shirt for my hold next week!!!

Lets hope so,my mate is a City fan and really rates him.In fact he said he would be gutted if Onouha left.Hopefully this should be the start of a few more new faces. :tu:
