I think it might be a case of everyone being that deflated at the fact we are looking at poor freebies that we dont really care who the other guys are because they will no doubt be uninspiring.

totally disagree with you as a player you'd want to play in the best league in the world thats not in portugal fella

It's not here though either is it Athlete, let's not get caught up in the Sky spin machine, the best league in the world is probably Spain and at least AN Other before you talk about our league.

And, if you were being honest, if a good player was to be offered Benfica or Rovers, he would choose Benfica, not ideal, but true nevertheless.

The "Premier League" for me is one of the most overrated leagues on the planet, and it's financial lunacy WILL end it tears at some point, and too many players just come here for a final pension top up for my liking.

I would also argue that German and French leagues are more exciting!

I completely agree with you Chris but I am not basing my current opinion on what Nicko says, I am basing it on

1. Us not having made a single significant signing even though we have been told we will spend money & hope to have all our business done by next week

2. We have sold one of our best players without a replacement lined up

3. We have no medical team

4. We have no chairman

5. We were in a relegation battle & only survived on the final day even though we were supposed to be aiming for fifth!?!

I continue to say that I hope I am proved wrong but why should I have faith in the owners at this stage?

They need to prove themselves!!

I'm not saying below your wrong I'm just turning your negatives its to positves, because it could go either way:

1: weeks not over yet and we still have next week, Grabbi, Davies, Kalinic all seems a bit too rushed to me.

2: Losing Jones is not like losing Shearer or Duff, its more like losing Dunn. Jones would have been great I'm sure but he was never going to stay and we never will see the best of him. Plus he is a defender and we need goals.

3: I really doubt thats true.

4: good because he would be sitting on his arse collecting 300k a year when we are not the same club we use to be. Sure he was here for the sale of our best players and purchase of poorer ones, but hopefully them days are gone.

5: yes but that doesn't make a difference, Most teams need to improve, Arsenal have to, another season with medals is a nightmare, Spurs can't miss out on top 4 again, Man U have already pushed the bar higher.

There really has been little activity at most clubs (exclude a couple of obvious ones). do you think a lot with not happen in the next month?

sure most fans are worried a little by the lack of activity, but I just don't want to end up with a pile of Carsley's, Blake's, Grabbi's and Dailly's

WITSEL...Benfica hoping to do the deal tomorrow...[thought that one was made up]...not agreed the final details of the fee...Rovers were considering a low bid or even asking for him on loan [that's a 'you couldn't make it up' moment].

MIRANDA...Atletico Madrid player tomorrow.

MONGONGU...maybe in for talks this week, maybe not.

TRIALIST...oh dear.

KEANE...price dropping...hope the committee knows.

AGENTS...quite clearly no longer the Kentaro and SEM domination that was [although that will no doubt be contradicted].

FAMILY AND FRIENDS...yes, there is an idea to use a Venky or two to do future deals...my oh my...

Did it ever come to light who the 'oh dear' trialist was, or did I miss it?

Fair point Chris, the negatives can be turned into positives & had only one or two of the above been the case then I would have spun them as positives myself but there is a pattern emerging!!

The main point in the context of this thread is that we need players, we need quality players, you need to spend money on quality players & we have not spent a penny yet!!

My message to the owners is stop talking about long term plans, European football, cup runs, marquee signings etc. & prove to your supporters that you are worthy of our support!!

Oh with QPR signing Jay Bothroyd, there are now only three teams who are yet to make a signing..

Rovers

Villa

Chelsea

One of those teams doesn't need to sign anyone (although their fans would disagree) but us and Villa will be prime relegation candidates at the moment (with them losing Friedel, Young and probably Downing).

That hardly counts does it? I mean, Bothroyd? Come on, it's not really a signing is it?

I think bothroyd will do well at QPR. Appears to have got his confidence back and also appears to using the talent others said he had.
